Default Blue moon already causing chaos

It is now a full 'blue moon'.

This is apparently a somewhat unusual astronomical occurrence, and also is the origin of the unlucky number 13 thing.

I should have known from all the crazy shit that went down tonight. Lots of fights, lots of chaos. People acting crazy.

It is apparently pretty well known amongst staff that police and emergency rooms are busier during full moons.

Perhaps most telling of all, mental hospitals have to have extra staff for the more dangerous patients.

Why do you think they call them 'lunatic' asylums?

"That explanation said that the moon "... usually comes full twelve times in a year, three times for each season."

Occasionally, however, there will come a year when there are 13 full moons during a year, not the usual 12. The almanac explanation continued:

"This was considered a very unfortunate circumstance, especially by the monks who had charge of the calendar of thirteen months for that year, and it upset the regular arrangement of church festivals. For this reason thirteen came to be considered an unlucky number."

And with that extra full moon, it also meant that one of the four seasons would contain four full moons instead of the usual three. "

Very interesting...I wonder why this causes violent behavior?

I've heard various theories, but nothing ever really convinced me there was any special reason. Like more light at night means easier robbery, etc., then people get caught and get violent, whatever. I don't think that's it, though. Also it wouldn't explain the lunatic asylum extra staff thing.

But it was in force tonight. One guy got thrown out for being an asshole, came back near one of the entrances talking a big game, got chased down the street to another big club, nearly arrested; upon his most fortuitous release, however, he went to a liquor store and started in with the same 'Yo I'm from Dade County!' shit with somebody there, and got the crap beat out of him, then arrested.

Another guy in the club was acting really weird. He came up to the booth and was very polite but said 'Hey can you squeeze some old school gangster rap soon, please.' Something like that. It was like he was very polite but clearly expected I really ought to do it just because he asked.

It's hard to explain--after you work in the clubs a while, you develop a sense for certain customers who are close to the edge of getting weird, violent, perverted, whatever. I don't mean pushy music requests, I get that all the time and blow them off without a second thought.

He triggered the alarms right away, polite and all. I gave him my not quite as polite brush off and hoped he would stay away if I played a Biggie remix for a girl who liked it. But he came back again, again polite, but getting weirder. I explained to him that I had to take care of the girls first, but I would see what I could do.

A little while later there is a standoff with him, the jello shot girl, and a bouncer, followed by the manager and one of our biggest bouncers from the back. The guy was pretty tough, but they got him outside and pinned down til the cops got there, when he had a chance to explain, I suppose--they didn't take him away right away.

Bottom line is, this guy went to jail for refusing to pay for a 5$ jello shot!

There was a lot of other shit, in just our club alone--those were just the two highlights of crazy shit I saw.

Wow. There were 2 fights at work last night-- I've never really seen a bad one before. It involved 8 girls total. Craziness. And customers were especially mean... we had a lot of people get kicked out. Way more than a usual Saturday night. Weird. When is this officially over? lol

I read about this on yahoo news last night when I got home from work last night; it made me feel a little better about how very, very bad the shift was.

There were two police cars in my complex with the lights flashing about twenty minutes ago when I was coming back from the store. This is a VERY nice, security-patrolled complex, so I wondered what happened......Hmmm...

this weekend was kinda slow, but i didn't notice any bad behavior. i work at a pretty nice club though.

full moons always seem to be bad for business though, so at least maybe that explains it.

From my experience they aren't always bad--but more often weird!

Wooo blue moon! I KNEW it felt too soon to have a full moon again when I looked out the window. lol. I JUST looked up, saw the full moon and said "Hmmm didn't we JUST have one? Is it that time again already?" Looked down at the comp and say this topic, lol. Fantastic timing. I love Blue Moons.

this weekend was pretty whack at our club. considering we had a game last night and how busy it was, it should have been bank. there was money but nothing spectacular or worth bragging about. and it was a rare weekend where most of my money was made off of dances instead of CRs.

oh and also on friday the water pressure went out city wide. and we had a boil water order. god bless new orleans!

yea, i blame this blue full moon.
The best thing i have heard in a strip club to date:
customer: we should get married right now! we should get a shotgun marriage!
me: uhh... i think you are misunderstanding what a shotgun marriage means. A shotgun marriage means you knock me up and my daddy shows up at your door with a gun and forces you to marry me and raise the baby. You mean elope.
customer: hmm... nah actually i will take the shotgun marriage. At least then we would be having sex.

Yes this is going to seem a bit
"know it all ish" but the term "blue full moon" is totally redundant guys. It's simply Blue Moon, as it's definition is "being the second full moon withing the 28 day lunar cycle". A blue moon is always full, not just any old waxing or waning crecent. Now I will leave before you all start hating me.
