    Default Quick Investment question

just looking some opinions and advise on this offer.

Monthly interest of 3% on investment.

Im not big into finance as such or have any real knowledge of things chatted about in this section of SW but I was wondering if you were offered this what would your thoughts be?

Money put in on the 1st is then given back on the 31st (end of month) with 3% added.

3% per month? Sounds a little too good to be true.
What's the risk? If the reward is huge, you can bet the risk is huge too.
    Need more details.

yes this corresponds to a 40%+ annual interest yield ... which clearly smacks of fraud / ponzi / illegal activities !

I meant because I offer it to one of my family members, its not a joe public thing sorry.

Im usually kept down in the "other work" forum with the webcammers. I run the daily pay service for the girls there. In my work if I put X in on 1st of month I get X+6% back in 3 weeks. So to help my family with their savings (and me expand a little bit faster) I was going to do up a little savings/investment scheme for them. My brother was the first person to give me ago and he gets his money back shortly with the extra 3%.

From the responses it sounds like a good deal for some of my family so il go ahead and start the "paperwork" for it. Was just checking so I dont feel like im ripping them off.

My site is btw and I have some threads in other forum

    Thanks everyone

just out of curiousity, do you get many real start up companies offering things of this nature?

I can only grow as fast as my capital will allow, seriously considering getting a bank loan soon, if they are still lending.

It sounds like what you are offering is "commercial paper."

If the 5 C's of credit is character, collateral, capacity, conditions, and capital, I guess you are really banking on character and capacity.

I guess it is a good deal for your family. Have you really made a cash flow and cash budget to really figure things out for the company?

Alot of words there Im not familiar with sorry, will have to do some more learning. I have done my taxes for the previous tax year by double entry ledgers which shows the company's "health".

I just read this , wow looks like I have a look to do and learn

yup exactly ... 30 day 3% discount unregistered commercial 'notes' ... backed by zero collateral ... with a non existant S&P / Moody's rating.

Arguably, under recently issued financial regulations, only 'qualified investors' are allowed to purchase such commercial 'notes'. In general, being a 'qualified investor' requires a minimum of $5 million in personal assets. Arguably, it is the note seller / broker's fiduciary duty to assure that they are only sold to 'qualified investors'.

Typically, commercial 'notes' are sold in $100,000 increments and are yet another opportunity for the rich to get richer while the 'middle class' are priced out / disqualified from participating. Arguably, even though 'privately' issued, and even though sold to friends and/or family, and even though sold in small denominations, the sale of commercial 'notes' to 'middle class' non-qualified buyers is no longer legal ( as a result of the recently passed Financial Reform law which President Obama signed last July ).
