    Default Air travel complaints?

This isn't meant to be a TSA thread, just general bitching about air travel and the things that happen. Today I was on a half empty flight and a guy takes the middle seat right next to me. Really? You don't want the aisle? You want to get all close and cuddly with me because my earphones, book and look of apathy scream "chat me up?"

I hate how long the whole process takes and how long it takes to get off the plane and how when the plane lands everyone stands up and just looks at each other cause you can't move anyway.
I also hate when I'm trying to sleep and someone opens the window.

Yeah, that bugs the hell out of me too. I lost a really lovely scarf when someone did that - and it just flew right out.

the only time I'll fly anymore is when I'm invited to ride along in a Lear / Falcon / Cessna.

I don't get the girls that dress up extra sexy when they fly. Flying home to my mom's the other day I saw girls in leggings with no skirts, mini skirts, and sexy tops. I'll totally dress like that to out to a club or a party, so maybe I'm being a little bit of a hypocrite but flying I prefer to wear a sweatshirt and jeans. TSA already has the body scanner, I don't need to put on an extra show for them. Plus it's COLD out here.

Guilty here too. In my defense I was going to go out with a friend straight from the airport. I was flying from LA to visit a friend who was going to school in Champagne IL in February. I was wearing my "sexy let's impress the boys at the club" outfit. I got a lot of looks at the airport, and I thought it was because they thought I was hot. It really was because they thought I was stupid. I walked out to the rental car and it was -20 degrees! I'm in a mini skirt and heels....

    I hate that!
I frequently fly on Southwest and I usually put a book/newspaper/iPod in the seat next to me to discourage that.

I thought it was a bunch of BS I couldn't bring baby formula on the plane and had to take my (at the time) infant son's shoes off.

I hate winding up next to some chatty motherfucker who wants to talk while I'm reading/have headphones on... like. SERIOUSLY? I look like I want to talk?

I also hate ending up seated next to someone who should've had to buy two seats but didn't.
Or the time before last... I wound up next to a 300 pound man who tried to raise the armrest so he could spill over into my seat. I slammed it back down (shoved it past his fat and all) and had to keep my arm on it the whole flight.
He spent the whole trip eating the GIANT baggy full of unpleasant smelling sandwiches he'd brought with him.

according to the TSA, one of the criteria for 'random' selection of people to X-Ray / pat down is women who are wearing skirts / baggy clothes ... on the rationale that they can't 'see' the outline of the girl's body and as such opportunity exists for hiding all sorts of potentially dangerous items.

However, there appear to be 'other reasons' while the TSA selects particular women for X-Ray / pat downs !!!

(snip)"ORLANDO, Fla. -- The head of the Transportation Security Administration said the agency will look further into allegations that two male TSA workers picked a woman for additional screening because of her breasts.

Eliana Sutherland recently flew from Orlando International Airport and told Local 6 she felt the two male TSA workers were staring at her breasts and chose her for additional screening because of their size.

"It was pretty obvious. One of the guys that was staring me up and down was the one who pulled me over," said Sutherland. "Not a comfortable feeling."

Experiences like Sutherland's have been reported across the country, leaving many people to join a group planning to boycott the TSA's new full body scan in an effort to clog security lines on the day before Thanksgiving. Whether it's pat-downs or full-body scans, the changes are making some people question who gets chosen and why.(snip)

Oh tell me about it. Last time we went to Portugal I was stuck with some office bimbo who'd come straight from an all night party and stank of stale booze and garlic.....and she was one of those 'Daaaarling' - in your face talkers. You know, all bad breath and flappy hands?

I felt green all the way.

    - I hate it when they search my small bags, we they dont go off and fully appear fine within the scanner. Esp when I know to take everything out that is considered "harmful" before I get to the airport erhm nail file hah! And they still fucking search and it takes 10 mins !

    - I hate it when the person infront me, slams their chairs all the way back, or when the person behind me, slams my chairs.

    - Last time I flew, the flight attendant got on my ass. I had my knees up to my chest and was trying to fall asleep since I was drugged out and sore. She starts " how old are you - are you under 15.. you shouldnt sit near the window.. Are you ok. *stares for 5 mins*.. Is she ok?"

I hate how people's IQ's drop like 50 points as soon as they walk into an airport. They immediately get so completely rude and clueless.

Once I flew into O'Hare when all flights were delayed because of a snow storm, my light was over 2 hours late getting there. Everyone's flights are delayed and we're all a little annoyed but one guy want's to yell at the agents about his flight and how he is inconvienced! I mean really! We're all in the same boat by no ones fault but mother nature, shut the fuck up and deal!

I hate being stuck in the cabin and there is a farter around me. You never know who it is either. It always seems to happen. If I get gassy, I will go to the fucking bathroom, hold it in, take a Gas X strip, whatever. Plus, don't eat flatulance causing food the night before or the day of a flight. Have some courtesy to the people around you!!

ALWAYS happens to me. Especially on Southwest when you pick where you sit. I think they see me and say "oh she's tiny and I'm fat, I'll sit next to her and it'll even out!"

Also whenever I end up next to a man no matter what his size he monopolizes the armrest for the whole flight. The worst is when I've been in the middle between two guys doing that and I could barely move. Guys like their space!

I was flying to another state to work and was meant to work that night until my damn flight got delayed by 7 hours! Only they never told us it was going to take that long. Every 30 mins they kept saying, "it will be here any minute". They gave us a meal voucher for the airport but it was only $10 and try finding food in Sydney airport for under $10. I couldnt go to work that night because I arrived after midnight. I was pissed! Ive never flown that career since... Aussies it was Jetstar aka Latestar or notatallstar.

1-I am 6-5. People who but their seats back without asking me PISS ME THE FUCK OFF. If you put your seat back, my knees are basically either jammed against the seatback, or forced outward in a very uncomfortable position. Anyone that does that can expect a flight that consists of my knees in their back, moving often. This is the single rudest thing that happens on flights.

2-Anyone that is shorter than 6 feet tall that asks for an exit row seat. Whenever I see some petite woman (or man, or any small person) sitting in that row while I'm squished into my little regular seat, I want to yank them out of it and throw them down the escape chute.

3-When people jump to their feet the moment the "ding" is heard at the end of the flight. I don't mind the aisle people so much...it's nice to stretch your legs...but anyone else...sit the fuck down and relax. It's gonna be 5 minutes before the door opens, and 5-10 more minutes before we can move up the aisle. Oh, and YOU...the one who is trying to move up the aisle out of place...GET THE FUCK BACK. We all want to get out of the plane quickly. If we all pushed our way up to the front, it'd be a riot. Settle down, asshole. Let me get my bag down and wait til it's your turn to start moving.

4-People who rush to get on the plane, ESPECIALLY when they don't have a carry-on.

5-People who take more than their share of their space. Here are the rules...1-If you're in the aisle, lean out a little. 2-If you're at the window, lean against the side of the plane. 3-If you're stuck riding bitch, you automatically get two arm rests.

6-People who want to talk to you the whole flight. An exchange of pleasantries is fine, but if I make it obvious that I want to read my book/do my crossword/work on my laptop/pick my nose and look at it, then leave me alone, ok Chatty Talkingman?

7-People who smell. Have you ever heard of personal hygiene, asswipe?

8-Parents who do nothing to control their kids on flights. I'm actually pretty patient with kids. It's hard for a kid to sit still on an airplane, or for a baby not to cry, so I don't mind when they cry or get rambunctious...except if Selfish Parent ignores them. PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR SPAWN, you jerk-ass.

9-As the OP said, when the flight isn't full and someone decides to sit next to you anyway, especially when they sit in the middle seat. Those people are just stupid.

Can you tell that I hate flying? It sucks.

Today I did a good deed. I was sitting next to a HUGE bodybuilder guy with arms bigger than my waist. He was crammed into a middle seat next to a big fat guy that I could smell from where I was sitting. I traded with the bodybuilder and took the middle seat. He called me an angel when the flight was over and asked for my number so he could buy me dinner as a way of saying thanks. Maybe I'm finally going to break my string of dating assholes.

I flew this weekend and was through TSA in about 10 minutes from the start of the line to the end. And my return flight was about 15 minutes.

I just went through the scanner. No big deal.

las vegas to denver and back.
