    Default Painful Stripper Shoe Strap!

I have these shoes. I love them, apart from the strap! When I first put them on I have no problems, but soon into my shift, the top of my foot (not my toes though) where the strap ends starts to hurt. If I wear them through to the end of the shift, I'll have two little cuts on top of my feet.

I've been counteracting this by wearing those high athletic socks with skirts, but my options are fairly limited and I do miss wearing my dresses, but they look damn silly with athletic socks. I could try hosiery, but I feel like it's too thin to make a difference, and I don't think I'd much like the look with a dress anyway.

Any suggestions? Do I need new shoes? Suck it up and keep wearing the socks?

Hey babes. Got high heels problems? Right up my street!

I do LOVE this style of mules, but they do get uncomfortable. I know what you mean about the tops of your feet....I model heels like these for a living now, and standing around in them for hours soon makes my feet swell up, or they slip down. Either way, the top of the PVC vamp starts to cut in and hurt like mad. I always have deep red lines on my footsies afterwards - and they take forever to go away.

Try hosiery first. A sheer/medium deniere glossy hose should do the trick. They won't completely stop the vamp from becoming uncomfortable, but they SHOULD stop them from actually cutting into your feet. The only problem with hosiery is that it makes the shoes really slip...and heels like these get tricky to stay balanced in, if you're dancing.

If hose doesn't work, then just go for a nice strappy high heel - with the straps just around your ankles and toes - leaving your instep bare. They'll easily look as lovely as these mules - if not prettier with some of them.

Pleaser, Ellie, Tony, Reflections, Night-Life, Pierre Silber, The Highest Heel, Hollywood Heels - they ALL do hundreds of styles, so you shouldn't have a problem finding some to suit you. Something like these perhaps:

You could also try a 2-band mule that gives your foot more support - like these:

If you can't wear the mules all night, then keep them just for short shifts...and for pleasure.

Heat the strap with a hair dryer, put on a pair of socks and walk around the house in them, that will stretch the plastic.

Thank you! I was hoping to avoid buying new shoes since they're still fairly new and in great condition. I'll definitely try to hair dryer trick.

AGREED. This always saved my feet from cuts, I have these pairs of shoes too.

The hair dryer helps... and if that doesn't fix it completely... I find that if I wear the shoes just until they start to rub the skin raw and switch to something else the rest of the night... my skin builds up a tolerance in that area pretty quickly.

I use the chafing gel/makeup primer and it really helps with tight shoes.

I second this!! After popping my shoes on top of heater/radiator to soften them up (potentially dangerous but quicker than a hairdryer), I put some of this on and it works a charm.

    How new are the shoes?

Blowing drying them to stretch will help... Also wearing them on your time off with socks will help them stretch as well.

You can try to lace your ankles (lace, ribbon) to support your ankles with the shoes, see if that works.

I started getting marks from my old shoes th same ones you describled for my foot sliding down too much.. putting a cushion in helped.

I have the 6 3/4 inch version of this shoe..Whenever I purchase a brand new pair I know the more I wear them the less they will hurt my feet. So in time theres no pain at all--but til then I alternate between wearing my old broken in pair to give my feet a break and the new pair til the new pair is officially broken in.--Then I throw the old pair away.
