Commonly used at go-go bars where the girl is dancing on/near the bar, then does a walk around the bar for tips from patrons.
Idealism is fine, but as it approaches reality, the costs become prohibitive.

What CO said...
They are not very common in my area (New England) but I have seen them at clubs in Philly and on the west coast. Many cities have ordinances against a dancer accepting a tip while she is on stage. Many clubs have stages that are actually behind the bar where a customer can't really hand the lady a tip. Hence, the tip walk.

thanks. i live in SF and here the clubs don't really have any tip walks so ive never heard of em b4 this forum.

I hated those. When I first moved out here and started at a club, I got off stage and sat down.
The girls were all, "You gotta go ask for tips."
I was like, "If they wanted to tip me, wouldn't they have came to the stage?"
It was really uncomfortable and different for me.
Glad I went to a club where I didn't have to do that crap anymore.
Made me feel like a panhandler or something.
WWW in Salina is THE definition of the tip walk. At the close of each stage set, the dancer will visit every customer in the joint and request a tip, even those who already tipped her at the stage. If she's smart, she'll ask for a private dance, too. In Salina $1 will do for the tip walk, but with upwards of 50 to 200 men there every night, each tip walk can net a handsome sum -- not even including the private dances. As many dancers will net a private dance or two and interrupt their walk -- continuing it after done in LD central -- there are sometimes 5, 6 gals doing the walk at once. Even if you just walked in and never saw the dance, you get hit up. I've often declined on such grounds, getting looks of shock and dismay.
That said, I love WWW. Why? There ain't much two-way contact in Colorado, but during my first dance in Salina, Summer grabbed my hands and planted them firmly on her quite lucious breasts. Mmmmmm...

I didn't know that there was/is a club in WI that does not have a tip walk.
To the OP: Tip walks are not common in many areas of the country, including New England and parts of the South, but they are very common at the clubs I frequent in Queens, NY. As noted above, they are also very common in parts of Milwaukee that I travel to and in the DC clubs.
They take on a couple of different forms. In places that have stages surrounded by a bar, the girls will often walk along the inner bar side and take the money with their hands, breasts, etc. You can easily spend a lot of money very quickly in places that have 3-4 girls dancing at a time.
In the clubs I frequent in the Milwaukee area, the stages are set away from the bars. After a stage set, each girl hunts down customers in the club for a tip. Heck, I could swear that, from time to time, a girl that did not even dance will do a tip walk just to collect more cash. Many of the larger clubs have multiple stages so it can be hard to keep track of every girl that was on a stage.
DC is similar to Milwaukee in terms of aggressive tip walks. There are no lap dances in DC, so tips for stage performances are an important source of income for these girls ITC.
If you are light in the wallet then some discipline is needed as these tip walks will soak you fast. Even at $1 a pop (and I often give $2) you can, after a couple of hours, quickly realize that you spent $50-60 more than you thought.

They have them here in PA. When I first got out here I wasn't used to it. Usually in Albuquerque they sit in front of the stage aka "Pervert Row" salivating and not tipping.
