Just out of curiosity what brought you to webcam and how did you discover it?

Well I started webcamming because I was already working a 2nd PT job making $9 an hour. I work 530 am to 2pm everyday and then headed directly to my PT job 4 days a week. I got so tired of doing that. I knew about camming and did as much research as I could and then decided to take the plunge. I'm a big girl but have always been comfortable in my skin. I figured I didn't have anything to lose and have found there are plenty of guys out there that are BBW fans. It allowed me to quit the 9hr PT job and set my own hours. So for me it was for added income but I can honestly say I enjoy it!

I found out about camming on here; I was thinking about stripping, and noticed how many new girls would come on here and talk about auditions and how their first night was, and I felt so left out! I don't have a club ANYWHERE near my hometown, and I don't drive. I checked out "Other Work" and learned about camming, and finally decided to just do it! I love it, it's so much fun.

A friend of mine told me his friend who is a nurse was camming. I was intrigued and asked to speak to her, and she told me everything she possible could about it. I didn't really think guys would pay to see a cam girl when they could watch porn for free. But I tried it and have been doing it a few years now. Sometimes I am amazed still buy who pays for a show and the type of shows they pay for. I have a regular who pays me to ignore him, and I am happy to do so!
Well I was fresh off an eviction and had to borrow money from my father and couldnt find a job to afford my lifestyle (meaning paying all my bills) so I Googled at home jobs and camming came up... Now I live happily ever after...
Back in 2008 I had a killer job as a restaurant manager making 44k/year. Unfortunately, the economy killed our business and we ended up going under. One of my fellow assistant managers told me that she did webcam work part time and loved it, so I figured why not? I thought at the very least it would hold me over until I found another job. Well, it tuned out that management jobs were hard to come by in my area and I ended up getting hired as a waitress, which sucked. I was working 40 hours a week bringing home about $300./week busting my ass & feeling like a slave. I was making the same amount in 1-2 nights at home camming so I quit that job and never looked back.
I'm saving every penny I possibly can right now so one day I can open my own place & I swear I will never ever treat my employees like I was treated.
Rock on! Dude sounds just like my story!!!
I wanted to become a stripper back in the hay day, alas fate closed that door. I still lurked here for a while cause i love you gals and the fascination was always there. Then i read the others thread and camming was big. I'm like "well if i can make men fall in love with me and buy me things by just IMs and shit, i can get PAID for it!". So i weaseled a cam and after months and months of mondo lurking here i did it. Here i am, a little over a month now and i love it. Its my play money (i'm a SAHM) and it feels so good to have money in MY account and not wait for my SO for stuff.

My boyfriend worked for a studio for cam girls! But not as a host but as IT and web desinger! He met me with a few cam girls and they told me all about this job! AS my salary then was just around 150 euro per month /for which i had to work 10 hours every single day, if i had days off i could take less/ my choice was very easy! I am not a top earner but still is much better then regular job , for now of course!

My boyfriend spends all of his money on ifriends! I don't know what type of custie he is, but I sure would love to find out, LoL! I know who his favorite is...she gets all of his money, he promised to take me on a cruise and spent it on her instead! I'm not mad at her, she's just a girl trying to make a living, as we all are. They even send each other emails, he has her private email address also! I don't know if he does private shows with her or not, I asked and he said no...but why else would he communicate with her outside of the sight? I have an account there, (I havent worked from there yet, have only logged on to read the forums) but I'm not sure if there is a way to look up user names or not. I would never contact her, or anything like that, she probably doesn't even know I exist...I just wish I knew what kind of show he likes. I mean I would do anything to have fun like that with him, but whatever he likes remains a mystery to me.
Anyway, I figured if SHE can make money doing this, I certainly can!

My club of 5 yrs booted me out the door with some bullshit reason. I had been a clean loyal dancer and I was pissed! I tried to get hired at another nice club but something kept getting in the way of it. So I decided to try camming. I'm really glad I did because my family is looking to move soon and we weren't sure how the financials would work out with hubby finding a new job and whatnot. Now it looks like I can just pack up my work and move whenever. Yaaayy
Yes, I'm real.
Well, I first used my webcam to keep in touch with ex-boyfriends in long distance relationships. This was back around 2003/2004 back then I didn't have enough guts to use webcam to earn money. After years later I started doing voice sex with charge and then some customers wanted webcam with me. I would just give them only photos of me and I used to reject offers for webcam. This one customer after a while having a few voice sessions with him. I just became more comfortable with the idea of doing webcam to earn money and he was my very first customer that got paid to do it with.

camming keeps me from getting in trouble at the clubs Ive danced at. I dont have the temptations I do when I work live. Here when a customer annoys me I can kick them out of the room.
It also allows me to be home with my baby and cut down on childcare.

HiInitially, I was intending to use webcamming to supplement my income from porn, but after going through the drama of inconsistent producers and fickle male talent, I decided that it was best to rely on me. In addition, I realized that it may be safe to assume that since I'm particular in my personal life of what partners I deal with and I only engage in monogamous situations that I wouldn't be too keen with sexing many professionally. I started doing group live shows on rude and I loved it, but because most of the attendees were members, I generally acquire money from tips. Folks kept advising me to go the private lounge for that's where the money is. In trying it a few times, as well as on LJ, I was annoyed with all the demands made during free chat and wasn't sure how to handle it. When I do group live shows, there are no requests and I run the show like I want to.
Reading many of the posts here has confirmed some things for me. First, I can run my private lounge in a way that works for me. Sure, I want to put on fabulous shows for my custies, but demands and rudeness is not something that has to come with the job. Secondly, I've learned though there seems to be benefits in running free chat, there is the members only option. Third, I'm reminded (AGAIN) that consistency is key and I now commit myself to that.
I love the concept of generating real income from the comfort of my home. Although performing with a partner is cool, I like depending on only me to get the show in and be profitable just as well. Between operating our home school, completing my degree program, home management and my research - not to mention I'm a single parent - working consistently a few hours out of the day and making what I would generally make from the 9-5s I've had sounds empowering.
Thank you all for being so inspiring! It's because of the information shared in this forum that has motivated me to explore camming further and embrace the income possibilities.
I do a lot of affiliate marketing. Last winter I got interested in promoting adult websites. Through my research I came across webcam sites... I vaguely knew that such a thing as webcam girls existed but I guess I had always assumed that it was only a studio thing, like you had to physically go to work in a studio somewhere to make money.
Upon learning otherwise, my boyfriend and I contemplated it for several months until we finally took the plunge and signed up to Streamate. In the beginning we kinda assumed it would be a "get rich quick with little/no effort" type thing but after our first week or so, we realized that wasn't the case.
Now we both solely do webcam as our primary source of income. He doesn't make much on any of the major websites but does pretty well when he takes it independent. Of course, he's limited by the amount he can cum in one day so it's up to me to make the majority of the money.
