Default Strip club DJ buying first whip, color choice advice?

Working as a club DJ you make a lot of stripper friends. My stripper friends have given me hands down the best advice on style over the years, and talked me into getting a tattoo I always get compliments on and other stuff so I thought I'd throw out a dilemma.

I'm in my mid 20's and finally making decent money working 5 nights a week and I'm ready to drop significant money on the first car I've ever bought. It's a '10 BMW 335i coupe and I had my heart set on red and everyone agrees it's the best paint color. I've narrowed down what I like for the interior, but I like two different options for different reasons (classy vs sporty).

I want to know which of these two options is more appealing, and hopefully why. What are your opinions?

    Thanks.

So the car is a 'whip'? I've never heard that, but I'm not into cars that much.

'Whip' is slang for expensive and ostentatious vehicles or cars. It comes from the fact that when steering wheels were first put in cars (as opposed to a 'tiller') - they were called 'whips' after the way that horse-drawn carriages were guided.

I SOOO wanted to call it a 'pussy magnet' tho'.....Oh there...I just did!!

(PS: My BMW is bigger than his...and it's got CREAM leather - So..Neeeeh!).

I don't like either. What is up with the orange? It clashes with the red big time.

    Please don't get red...

Black, gray or even white... But not red. The leather I agree in that car on top of that DOES CLASH BADLY.

To me, it looks like you are trying too hard and the color is tacky. You are a strip club DJ, you don't need anyone pointing more fingers at you. (on how you afford it at 25 - not that being a DJ is bad because its not.)

I would have some investments before I bought that car also. - Just think about that. You as a DJ do not get a Pension or 401K. Contribute into a SEP first.

AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD- DO NOT BUY A 2010. You pay so much in depreciation. If you must have a BMW (and I have one so I understand)

Also, for those of you that said get a civic- that is horrible!

I think its too flashy. But everyone likes something different. As for making a decision, when its comes down to it pick what makes u happy..Not what appeases others. Its supposed to be about what vehicle u want for you..Not about the attention the car will draw. Someone who used to be really close to me had 2 BMWs..They were nice but wayyy wayy too expensive to maintain..Not worth it..But hey everyone has an opinion and an asshole. ALso u dont want to attract women who initially want u bc of ur car..Those can be the vain, shallow type..Unless u want that...But w my close friend--he was the vain, shallow type....So either way.....

I'm going to be serious for a moment now. I agree with all this.

I have a BMW as well - a 1997 540i. It's bronze, cream leather, aircon, 5-speed switchable autobox, electric everything (incl seats), onboard computer, GPS (which I don't use) and it only had 36K from new on the clock when I bought it.

Price? £1,650.00 - NO lie. That's about $2,720.00. A lot less than yours I'll wager - and the same, if not more of a car....and it came with a Dealer's Used Car warranty. All the money you are spending is on cosmetics - and the Dealership's profits.

Unless you have the cash to literally throw away at this car, you're losing money in bucket loads the moment you pull off the forecourt. Like...18-20% in the first 12 months.

The next person who gets this car will reap ALL the benefits of your expenditure - including all the 'new car' mechanical gremlins sorted by YOU, under your warranty.

A less expensive car is much wiser, and it leaves you far more free income to invest in your future, not just tacky flash.

I'm sorry, but it is tacky. The colours clash horribly - so black is the only way of reducing the glare. Then again, you're a young guy in a flash industry....so appearances are still more important to you. My husband and I have done all that, he was the same as you at 25 and he's a musician.

You could have bought a 6 year old 5.0L V8 Mustang for half the price....but there you go. You've done it now.

I know that BMW's have some mad kind of high status over in the States. the cost of used BMW's in America, is three times the price they are here. But then, BMW's are to us here, what Chevvy Caprice's are to you guys over there......commonplace.

One last thing. Most girls really don't care about cars - just so long as they go, and look nice.

Not to disagree with my esteemed colleague Pussyinboots, but there are a lot of women that care a great deal about what kind of car a man drives. Literally millions of them. It was a real shock to me coming out of college, working my first graphics job, listening to the young office girls talking for literally hours about what kind of cars all these guys drove. And the longer I was out in the real (really superficial) world, the more I realized how important it is to certain very common types of women.

I usually don't care for that type of woman, but hey--to each their own. If buying a 60,000$ car gets a guy a lot of that kind of ass and it makes him happy, who's to say that is an evil thing.

And there is something to be said for the sheer pleasure of driving (or riding) a precision engineered machine, all blatant sexual advertising aside.

I can tell you from personal experience that the BMW motorcycle is magnificent, and from what my Beemer driving friends tell me, their cars are pretty nice as well.

The bikes don't come with a pussy magnet though, you have to install it yourself.

Certain types of women go for certain cars, I agree. If that is what you want to attract-so be it, right?

If someone is spending that kind of money starting out in his career when he is not stable, that is a huge turn off.
Basically, hes shooting his future in the foot.

I think the coupe is maybe 40 or 45k- not 60. I think its more likely they are leasing it out, unless hes putting a big chunk of money down. Either is just a bad, bad decision.

If he gets it just a year older I do not think the body style was changed that significantly and he might be saving at least 10k.

No disagreement 'DJ'...(Can I call you 'DJ'..?).

Yes, compared to say, 15 years ago, there are VAST numbers more women who are interested in cars now. Their man's car...and their own.

Of course, most girls are interested in boy's cars (and boys WITH cars) when they are younger - it's the perennial problem isn't it? Guys with cars get the girls.....at least at School.

However, there are still a vast number who don't care too much either. Swings and roundabouts......whatever floats your boat and all that.

The only thing I will add to this thread is driving is an experience & I like to have a good one. I drive a black on black E 350 Benz & work very hard to pay for it.
