    ^^^^Argh.

Think of it this way, we're strippers, we make a lot of money. Not everyone else, including those who made the movie, so why not use trickle-down economics? I mean, to rent it from Blockbuster or the like is about 3 dollars? And Netflix is pretty affordable and worth it....

    That's my stance.

I only said torrents because I think that's the only place that has it anymore, I don't think blockbuster has it.

If your saying this ^^ the BEST thing to do is not rent from super corporate Blockbuster and rent or ask for them to get the movie that you want at your local, independent, getting fucked over by the big chain, humble video store!

Anyways, I'm always trying to find new stripper movies so thanks for the insight... never heard of Dancing at the Blue Iguana before will try to check it out! I haven't seen it yet but how about the movie YELLOW? Anyone seen it?
Oh I'm also surprised no one has made a movie about Portland strippers yet! It would be a perfect setting!

^^^ Doesn't matter about going to Blockbuster- around here they're dropping like flies, going out of business.

I haven't seen Yellow yet, I'm going to. It's like number 9 on my queue right now.

Striptease (the one with Demi Moore) represents the struggle some strippers go through in order to provide a better living for their kids, something that seems very common in this industry.

However, most music videos featuring strippers do NOT do a good job portraying our job. Do people actually think that guys can grab us and take us with them or that we make out with customers?!

Powder Blue was not a realistic view of the strip club at all, don't waste your time.

    My report:

Yellow is NOT AT ALL realistic. It's an OKAY movie. Powder blue- the same.

Blue Iguana is the best. I really enjoyed it. The Wrestler is decent- not my cup of tea, but realistic.

^ Powder Blue was the movie I'd watch before work to help convince me that stripping is just like in the movies.

I like it that in closer the only innocent victim was the stripper. Everyone else was a bunch of lying cheating sacks of shit.

^^^ But she moved on to better things and was happy in the end--- the very end.

I'm watching "Live Nude Girls Unite" right now- it's a documentary, so how much more realistic could you get? I'm also about to watch "Strippers: The Naked Stages." I'll let you guys know how they are.

the stripper in closer was a lying cheater as well, the biggest of all really. which was kind of the twist of the film (not really a spoiler).

yellow is realistic for 80s or 90s stripping (it's not set in the present, but in the late 80s or early 90s). girls were still paid then and there was still a lot of importance to fancy stage costumes and such.

a bizarrely realistic stripper movie is fear city.

a (very) tiny point to hustle and flow for mentioning tipout in one of its stripclub scenes. the guy who wrote it had his wife work in a stripclub to pay the bills before hitting it big with the hustle and flow movie. i would love to see a movie about that relationship and situation, as it has its similarities to the pimp/ho of hustle and flow.

You it is funny My wife and always say people get the wrong idea from movies about this industry, funny when a show goes bad and other girls at these parties call her a whore and we both laugh. Far from it, We laugh all the way to bank with Hubby's money. We have to see a movie that is close to the real deal. Zombie Strippers was bad..... What can you do?

Bloody hell. Taking out the Mummy to watch Closer again and pay closer attention. She lied about her name, but told Clive Owen the truth. It went like this. Natalie Portman+Jude Law then Julia Roberts sneaking around with JL. Then enter Clive Owen.

I got a headache I'll post after I rewatch it.

I really, really enjoyed Dancing at the Blue Iguana. Definitely worth watching. I'm glad I bought it (for 2 cents on Amazon).

Powder Blue was weird....but am I the only one that loves Zombie Strippers? It has a special little spot in my heart!!

I remember when I first watched independence day - I think that was the first time I saw a strip club scene in a movie...and its SOOOO unrealistic - they each had these little showgirl style mirrors with the bulbs around them, and the dressing room looked so huge and luxurious. I've heard of dressing rooms like that - but I've yet to work in one...sigh. I did love that scene though - and I love the movie for showing a very realistic version of a stripper who lives a normal life, with a nice guy, a nice kid, and just strips to pay the bills. Its still one of the most positive portrayals of a stripper I've seen..
I take cash, debit or credit. I just don't take shit.

^ I loved Zombie Strippers the first time I watched it, but the second time it didn't do much for me. I was disappointed that they didn't take the opportunity to show off some really cool pole tricks. And it was kind of disappointing that Jenna didn't have more camera time on stage. She's the reason I got into stripping!
