Default whatever helps you sleep at night

This is going to be kinda rantish. Just warning ya . I had one guy earlier this week, keep insisting I quit calling myself a stripper, I'm a "dancer". He said I needed to give myself more credit than that. Umm I'm sorry, but what is so wrong about being a stripper? I don't candy coat anything. I don't get on stage and do the cha-cha. I shake my ass and borderline emulate solo sex. If I don't consider what I do dancing, I'm not gonna call myself a dancer. Fred astair, dancer. Michael jackson, dancer. Me? I'm a STRIPPER. And then he proceeds to tell me its not a strip club, its a GENTLEMENS club. Sure it is buddy, and denial is just a river in Egypt. I realize now, after I typed this all out, it was pointless, but I really had to vent about it. I think I'm just burnt out.

Customers are silly. Try not to let them get to you so much!

If you're burnt out, is it possible for you to take a little break form dancing so you can recharge and come back with a fresh perspective? New club? Even a night or so off that you take all for yourself and spend at a spa?

Men are goofy. The guy I want to be with always says to me "I never considered you a stripper". I asked him why and he said because I actually danced on stage and didn't remove clothes. Makes sense but I think it's because he's afraid of being attracted to a stripper because his mother thinks strippers are whores. Men often have this negative attitude about strippers so if they meet someone without the stereotypes they change it their head.

I like the idea of being called a "dancer". I actually do dance--Im not saying Im the greatest at it, but I swing out, do a half pull up on the horizontal bar, I do a handstand on the pole..And move around alot..I do actually dance. I work in a bikini bar so there isnt much "stripping" and there are no lapdances nor private dances of any kind. I know Im not the norm but yea Im fine working in clubs that technically rnt strip clubs. They r considered go go bars actually or bikini bars where I work. I also prefer the gentleman's club term. It is an effort to bring some class to the business and thats what I prefer.

It didn't bother me so much that he looked at me as a dancer, guys use the term dancer all the time in conversation with me, it was me talking and referring to myself as a stripper, and him cutting me off to say "no your a dancer". It was repeatitive and annoying. For him to say I deserve more credit than to refer to myself as a stripper. Well, that's what I am. Yes I dance, but I'm not a tap dancer, I am exotic dancer. It was the annoyance of him feeling guilty of being in a strip club when he shouldn't have been, in his eyes. The whole give myself credit thing kind of annoyed me, like being a stripper isn't a good thing, and to be a stripper should be shameful. Normally I don't trip out over customers like that. Like I said, I'm burnt out. I've taken two days off now, and am working the weekend so maybe ill feel better

If part of you "act" is taking off your clothes then technically you are a stripper. Although, I will say that some entertainers are not deserving of the title "stripteaser". I don't know why so many people have lost the art of the tease, but I really appreciate my co-workers who still perform an actual striptease.
    Don't you ever sleep?
Not at night...that's when the stars have rather better things to do. They're coming out, shining, that sort of thing.

I've had a customer in a lap dance once be like "you're so pretty I hate to think of you as being the s-word" and I thought he meant something else so I was like "huh???" and he goes "you know...a stripper"

one time at work lol they were playing "I'm in love with a stripper" and one drunk girl got so mad she was like "I'M A DANCER NOT A STRIPPER UGHHH"

I call myself a stripper. I don't give a fuck, I take my clothes off for money, it is what it is.

Maybe he was trying to feel better about it because of the screwed up stereotype society has of strippers. So he wanted to elevate you and the club to feel better about himself and for being attracted to you (a dancer could be a ballerina, but a stripper-well we all know the stupid stupid stereotypes; that we are drugged up whores with neglected kids and pimps who sleep around everynight)

Who cares what they think or say, or whether they think we're awesome, or cracked up whores. I just want their money.

yeah, i just want the money. whatever.

unless he isn't spending. or he's only spending a little and expecting extras galore. or he thinks that because he "respects" you so much, you'll take him to a dark corner for a free, bareback ass to mouth session.

i judge guys who say stuff like that by the tone of their voice. if he sounds like a normal, clueless guy who means it, whatever. if he's got that creepy perv who'd like to wear your skin-suit voice, he's just trying to see how you react so he'll know if he can manipulate you and how to do it. those are basically the only ones.

Absolutely! They can call me anything they want, with whatever positive or negative associations, as long as they pay me! Lol

Personally, I call myself a stripper - I used to be a dancer (ballet, street etc etc) and taught dancing, so I find it odd to consider what I do now "dancing"...but thats just me - a rose by any other name, right?

The one thing that DOES make me fume is when burlesque dancers are incredibly derogatory towards strippers, saying things like "I do burlesque - I'm a performer. Stripping isn't dancing, its not skilled, its just anorexic sluts taking their clothes off" (thats a quote) C'mon ladies! I love good burlesque, but I know that historically, burlesque is a forerunner to modern stripping - you are taking your clothes off on a stage! Pasties or no pasties - don't be a bitch!
I take cash, debit or credit. I just don't take shit.
