Default Weight Gain and Birth Control

I was looking for a little advice on how to go on birth control WITHOUT gaining weight!! I was on the pill for ten years, so I came off it to let my body recover a little, and I lost about ten pounds within a month of coming off it. Its been about a year since then, and I'm getting really frustrated being unprotected and not having control over my periods like I used to, so I want to go back on, but I am terrified of gaining those ten pounds back! Any ideas or tips? I'm at a total loss!!
I take cash, debit or credit. I just don't take shit.

find the right pill for you. they are all a little different.

i finally found the right one for me and its a godsend, no weight gain other than the typical water weight right before my period.

everyone has a certain balance that will work best for them. the pills have different doses and different types of progestin.

I hate to butt into girl chat, but my wife loves her IUD.

She has the Mirena. IUDs don't depend on hormones for birth control, but this version does have a slow-release that eliminates her period, just a few spots.

IUDs are much safer than pills, almost 100% effective (more reliable than tubal ligation), removable, hormone-free if you want, with no weight gain or crazy.

    (From my experience and research.)

Check it out for yourself and chat with your gynecologist, of course.

^ I love it when men butt in on the girly conversation with legit advice. No really, I do.

The IUD sounds tempting. I don't want children for another 5 or more years at least. But I heard Mirena is only good for women who have already had a child?

To the OP: I concur with the advice from the first response - find the right pill for you to minimize the side effects as best you can. Research what pill you were on last time - obviously that one didn't work with your body well. Talk to your doctor - new formulations of bc come out all the time. Good luck!

I can't say ENOUGH good things about my IUD... I just got it in August, so it's been about 3 or 4 months.
I have the copper, non-hormonal one.... I have NOT had any kids... you don't need to have had a child to get a copper IUD.

There is a bit of an adjustment period after insertion, where your periods may be longer or extra heavy, but it normalizes.

I LOOOOVE having this thing in me.... no more interrupting the mood to dick around with condoms.... no weight issues, no 'oops.. missed a pill'. I LOVE IT.

That said, it's contraindicated for women with a history of pelvic inflammatory disease, and for those who have multiple partners. It's ideal for women who are in a stable, monogamous relationship, and who don't want kiddies for a few yrs..
    Talk to your GYNO!! :-)

Try another pill, that has a different progestin.
