When conservatives cry for free markets, it's this^ that drives them. They aren't interested in cheaper goods for all as they claim publicly. What they want is market forces at work on labor not goods, where people would be willing to work for ever falling wages as they compete with those without jobs who could be free to undercut existing employees without the constraints of unions or minimum wage laws.

Big Business has no national loyalty as they demonstrate by their willingness to throw Americans out of work in pursuit of profit. They would be happy to keep jobs here, but only if they could lower the standard of living of the working poor, and absolving themselves of any social responsibility through their mantra of "personal responsibility". Yet somehow they have co-opted the middle America middle class through fear and the espousing of family values, who regularly vote against their own self-interests.

Persons are smart. People are dumb.

I'm interested to see if the Tea Party will hold those they helped elect to the standard against which they judged the incumbents.

Hell, i wish Palin would run in 2012, it would save Obama
neither she nor the Republican Party's big political donors are that 'stupid'. My guess is that Sarah Palin will continue to act as a 'lightning rod' while someone with a solid record in both business and politics - like Newt Gingrich or Mitt Romney - will run for election in 2012. Also, with a fair probability that America's unemployment rate / economic state won't be significantly improved over the next 2 years, I doubt we'll see a replay of 2010 'Tea Party' conservatives duking it out with 'RINO' republicans. Remember that prior to the 2010 election results proving a conservative political shift, the 'Tea Party' often promoted any candidate that was willing to run and take the heat.

Everyone seems to think Obama has been totally useless. Contrary to popular belief, taxes are LOWER now than they ever were when Bush was in office. Those stupid goddamn upper-class tax cuts that all the Republicans are saying are completely necessary to rejuvenate the economy...it's total bullshit. It's just like Reaganomics with the "trickle-down theory," and it's been PROVEN not to work.

This is why I want to be a History teacher. It's simply shocking how everyone thinks that the Tea Party is this great new group with wonderful ideas for the good of the country. Anyone who really believes anyone at the top of that party is there for the good of the country is just kidding themselves. They're there to make MONEY. They're there to get POWER. And all they have to do is get a lot of poor, ignorant Americans to believe all their bullshit, and they're doing a damn good job of it. Groups like this have been around before. They keep comparing Obama to the Nazi Party...well, I think the Tea Party has a LOT more similarities to the Nazis than Obama does.

The Republicans and the Tea Party are phenomenal at using propaganda to further their cause. They all have their little catch-phrases they use at the same time. Americans are proven to have a very short attention span, and when they keep hearing stupid fucking phrases like "death panels," it sticks in their minds. The party as a whole is very good at playing that card. Democrats don't do that. Maybe they should start. They could put out the news that taxes are actually LOWER than when Bush was in office, despite what the Tea Party nutjobs would have you believe.

Gah, this is kinda making my blood boil so I will simply reply to the original post -

As a TV personality Palin is annoying but mildly entertaining. However, the qualities that make her fun to watch (her ignorance, lack of concern with people's opinions ...) are what make her a dangerous political figure.

While it's true that she's smart enough not to run it will also be a lot harder for her to continue to be relevant if she is not running for office. Her fans expect her to run, they don't care about Sarah Palin the reality TV star, they want Sarah Palin the saviour of our country.

OP, you do realize that Sarah Palin and most tea party members hate your guts, don't you? This is not a sex worker friendly group of people.

If you got raped and murdered in the street, most of them would just cluck their tongues and say you deserved it for being a dirty whore who takes her clothes off for money. You really want to support people who think all of us are less than human? Seriously?

Check from the reality TV show, check from Fox News, checks from the lecture circuit, checks from the book publisher ... it would appear that Sarah Palin will maintain her 'relevance' in the same way that Oprah has !

Yeah, but Oprah has never held a political office, and she's not talking about running for president.

What makes Sarah Palin so dangerous is that she is actually using reality shows to attempt to further her political career. The ignorant masses will want to vote for her because they've seen her in a dumbed-down reality show, not because they actually know any of the issues she REALLY stands for.

Being the President or running for it is becoming nothing but a big joke. What happened to the secretiveness of it?? We shouldn't be seeing Obama on TMZ or have someone who is going to be running for President, have their own reality show! What a fucking joke! This is the bitch people WANT for President??! Next thing you know the "Situation" will be running for the Presidency... oy..

My point is why would Sarah Palin supporters continue to care about her when it becomes obvious she's not about to ride in on a white horse and save the country from the scary liberals? Every single person who likes Palin wants her to run, the fact that she's utterly unelectable completely escapes them. What happens when 2012 rolls around and she dashes all their expectations?

I was sort of nodding my head to parts of your post until I saw this gem...

If it has said "The Republicans, the Teat Part and the Deomcratic Party are phenomenal at..." I would still be nodding my head. But like so many of the democrats and liberals (and republicans and conservatives) you suckle at the teat of your party and only beleive that the opposite side does anything wrong. Case in point "Change, Change, Change".

More and more I get fed up with the entire political spectrum, both the people who are in Washington and their supporters.

Maybe I should buy myself an island... I'd miss the Strip Clubs though.

Just saw this article & had to post it...

Sarah Palin’s Hunting Trip To Feed Her Family Cost — $42,400

Hunting for caribou means “food on the table and in the freezer for a lot of Alaskans,” the former Govenor extolled. She opened her freezer to let us see how the Palin meat pantry was getting bare.

“For many people in remote areas of Alaska, there’s no grocery store nearby, we just got to get out and hunt,” enthused Sarah. The only thing is that getting out and hunting for Sarah turned out to be an adventure requiring three separate airplanes to get her to her hunting spot with her father and family friend Steve Becker.

HollywoodLife.com researched the logistics and cost of Palin’s hunting trip which resulted in a bagged caribou, and discovered that it was a mighty expensive way to feed the Palin family, at $42,400 for the trip.

The grand total to charter a Dehavilland Dash plane from Era Alaska to travel round trip from Wasilla’s Palmer airport to Deadhorse, Alaska was $37,600. In Deadhorse, the Palins switched to a 6 seat Cessna C207 Skywagon which they flew into the Kavik River Camp, at $1200 for the round trip, according to Lori Goodman, director of sales and marketing of Era Alaska, the company which chartered the planes for the Palins.

Once in Kavik, the Palins spent two nights at the Kavik River Camp at $250 a person per night, for a $750 total.

Finally, the Deltana Outfitters flew them individually on a Piper Supercub airplane from Kavik into their hunting spot at a cost of $350 per hour for three hours each way, for a total of $2100, according to Deltana.

The grand Palin total to bag a caribou and get it back to the Palin homestead added up to $42,400, or $141.33 per lb. of caribou meat. Sarah shot and killed a female cow which may have weighed up to 300 lbs.

Just to put this is perspective, the Palins could have filled their freezer with ribeye steak at $10.99 a lb. from Alaska’s Mr. Prime Beef, which is based in Anchorage and ships anywhere in the state.

I have no problem with hunting as a hobby and eating what you catch. But when Sarah goes on about being “tough, independent and self sufficent” and that’s why she hunts, she can’t be serious. How many Americans can afford to be that “self sufficent” and “self sustaining” when it costs $42,400 to personally hunt for their meat?

It’s a nice fantasy Sarah — but that’s what you’re really selling on your reality show.

Are you sure about that? Go to your next tea party rally and tell those people that you have a young daughter and support her by stripping. Give them your full name and then go home and see if you have enough time to cook a poptart before CPS is pounding on your door.

You might share some of their views but I damn well guarantee you that they do not think it is acceptable for a mother to take off her clothes for cash. Good luck finding a private school full of abstinence only nuts who wouldn't want to stone you in the street for being a whore.

Agreed. The Presidency of the United States affects a whole bunch more people than just America. I have seen plenty of Sarah Palin's speeches and TV interviews, and heard her politics - and I can see her almost child-like lack of political common sense and forsight.

I have seen enough to air the view that she would be highly dangerous as a major world leader.

Having said that, I have no idea how she sits on the domestic front. It may well be that she stands for a lot of what you guys need for a healthy domestic economy.......IDK. All I'm saying, is that from where I'm sitting here in Blighty - she would be a severe threat to everyone's peace of mind.

I did not group the Democrats in with the Republicans and the Tea Party in terms of propaganda because I find that the Democrats have done a LOUSY job of standing up to the Republicans. I'm about sick of the Democrats because I am a true liberal, and I am finding that the Democrats are slowly moving more towards the center, just to try and make everyone happy. The Republicans are refusing to play ball with Obama and the Democrats. They've admitted that their main goal until 2012 is to ensure that Obama fails miserably at everything he wants to accomplish. The Republicans who are in office are SUPPOSED to be assisting the president in improving conditions in this country; instead, they are doing everything in their power to bring him down. He can actually say he believes something that all the Republicans believed in two months ago, but as soon as it comes from Obama they act like it's the worst idea in the history of mankind.

And yet, after all of this, the Democrats are refusing to take a stand. They are not united as a party and they keep trying to please the right instead of standing up for what is right. Universal healthcare is a RIGHT, not a privilege. But I never really heard anyone say it like that. It's all negotiations and wheedling and pleading. Fuck that. The Republicans aren't doing it; why should the Democrats? If they stopped worrying about the right maybe they could accomplish something. But instead, they aren't using any tools at their disposal, and they are all turning into fucking pussies. I think the Democrats could turn everything around if they started playing the same games and using the same type of propaganda as the Republicans. But they aren't, and I don't really have faith that they will. They're going to alienate the majority of the population with their bullshit, and it's totally going to pave the way for Sarah Palin to waltz into the white house and royally screw all of us.

I remember a cartoon I saw not long ago equating the politicians to the Wizard of Oz. It said the Dems have no courage and the Reps have no heart. This is true. You have the Republicans who obviously have no heart when it comes to the poor and middle class in this country. This is seen when we see them veto unemployment aid and help for the middle classes as "welfare", forgetting the fact that many unemployed are this way because corporate American sent jobs overseas. The only ones they want to help are the rich. The Dems are supposed to be the ones with the bleeding heart but how are they helping people? Many Democrats are blocking bills to bring back jobs to the USA! They have basically sat back and done nothing to help this country.

I happen to loathe both parties and will not believe either one. Neither party has our best interests in mind. Both parties are in bed with corporate America. I'm not even really a liberal (more of a Libertarian in many cases, socially liberal, fiscally conservative) but think the Republicans as they stand now are pretty dangerous and so are the Democrats because they are letting them get away with things.

The Democrats have not been true liberals in many years. I'd say they are how the Republicans used to be many years ago and the Republicans have been taken over by the religious fanatics. Clinton really ruled at a moderate Republican and several things he did ruined this country (signing NAFTA, signing 1996 Telecommunication Act, etc).

Yes we do, not a women with IQ of a blender, which is Palin. Some of her greatest hits:

Another "christian" who spouts off about family values and why gays should not marry, while her 16 year old daughter is banging away and has a kid out of wedlock. Yup, that's who I want running the country....not.

My interest in the Tea Party dropped the instant they allowed a religious zealot- who makes Bush Jr look like a genius - their defacto spokes person.

I liked what the Tea Party stood for early on, but for me, and many others, it died real fast when right wing repubs strong armed their way into it, and now use it for a shell to push their own agenda.

Mark my words, their will be a split when enough of the original Tea Party are forced to start another movement. Will probably be called something like "the real Tea Party" or something like it.

Actually the original Tea Party people started the Coffee Party. Their agenda (which I support mostly) is more of a grassroots thing to get this country back on track. The Tea Party was taken over by religious nutjobs who are only into politics because they hate Obama. They hate him not for real reasons except he's "Muslim" (which he's not) and because he's black. There are things they truly could dislike about Obama but they aren't concerned about those.
