Default But I bought you a drink.....

I always ask for tips. More often than not I get them, but I can't stand when a customer says this. As if the drink is a form of compensation. First off, you OFFERED! I accepted, that's normally what a gentleman does. I would just prefer them to flat out say no than to use the fact that they bought me a beverage. I highly doubt if I would have declined the drink it would have made a difference. Just keep it real and say no, it's all good. Just don't make the assumption that because Im a stripper a drink is just as good as money.

At work we are expected to swill drinks all night and we will get in trouble for refusing a drink because it's a big source of income for the bar. When I first get to work I enjoy having one but towards the end of the night "drinks" tend to become a source of anger for me, especially on bad nights when guys are all for buying drinks but not dances. It is my understanding that some customers think that if they get us drunk they will be able to take us home.

Like I said in another thread; "how about watching me onstage instead? "

Or: "I come here to work and being the center of attention, not to get wasted; if I wanted to get wasted, I'd drink my roommate/f buddie's vodka; now, come on watch me on stage".

It may sound a bit rude (I use a very sweet tone, actually), but it works.

I just tell them I am underage and when a guy is like, "so?" I add in a flat matter-of-fact tone, "I also have a seizure disorder called Epilepsy too." *gives blank stare with left eyebrow cocked* That usually makes them feel like shit and they always say, "oh my gosh, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to...well, sorry."

    dumb asses.

One time I was at sitting the bar after my stage set and this guy came up and started talking to me.
He said he didn't "pay to play" (as in buy dances ) but he offered to buy me a drink.
I accepted, since I was cooling off from my stage set and could use a drink anyway.
After I got my drink he asked me, "So what am I gonna get in return?"

I told him he got the pleasure of my company while I drank it.

Sometimes, depending on the night and the guy, I'll just tell them I'd rather them buy a dance.
I did this more in my old club since "lady drinks" were $10 and so were the dances.

I don't mind them offering drinks. I have no problem accepting a cocktail or a water or whatever. I just don't like them thinking that the purchase of a drink prior to dances constitutes as a tip. They are not the same.

Just like a drink in a regular night club is not only a gesture but a way to get to know a lady, how is it different in a strip club?

Some men also believe that buying a woman dinner equals sex.

    Forgive them.

A lot of men think we get paid on drinks, which is mostly a regional thing. Just clue them into the fact that you don't make money off of the drinks.

If I'm not being a super bitch I'll say something like "That was a tip for my company. You enjoyed that, right? And you enjoyed the dance? So don't you think you should tip me for that, too? "

Ok ladies, here's the thing. You have to remember that men who frequent strip clubs, webcam networks, escorts, etc are usually just as hip to the hustle game (if not more so) than you are and they count on the fact that your self esteem and concept of self worth is low enough to where they can pull that "but I bought you a drink" or "your price is too high" bull shit on you.

Bottom line: BE A BITCH. It took me YEARS to figure out that being a bitch and having a holier than thou attitude in the end makes you MORE money.

No one else will tell you this.

I tell them that drinks do not pay my cellphone bill, in case they "call" (to an old number I always give them), and that's why I prefer the actual money.

^OMG me too. I can totally pull it off when I really AM pissed off..which, when working , eventually happens with these morons. But..I almost can't NOT be nice..its just sorta..how I am. And it sucks. I can sometimes switch to bitchy mode and of course depends on the custie and try to read if they'll actually like the bitchy girl, or rather have the sweet girl..but almost always, the sweet girl gets put in friend zone and makes less money.

Well..no, never gone home owing. But, I know I have to find the inner bitch more often. The guys that really just want company and talk about themselves and be with a pretty girl- those are the ones I turn into 3 hr CRs..even a hardcore hustler the other day at work said "what did you DO for 3 hours in there last week?!" ..easy, have them fall in love with your personality and talk talk talk..

UGH! I HATE when men think that because we are strippers, we must all be crazy drunken party sluts, and dying for a drink all the time! I especially hate it when they offer it instead of a dance...let me see:

1 drink (fake) = me getting nothing, and having to sit here with you for another five-ten minutes of the most boring conversation I can think of.
1 dance = $40-50 for me, and me getting rid of you in three minutes. (five if you factor in walking to the booth, waiting for a song to end and getting the money)

I absolutely agree with Pure - if you don't want a dance, don't buy a dance. If you don't want to tip, don't tip. DON"T act like a drink is worth either of those things.
I take cash, debit or credit. I just don't take shit.

Some customers do believe we get a commission on drinks, and in some clubs with "ladies" drinks we might. But I think most of the time, this customer is thinking that if he buys you a drink you are going to feel obligated to be polite and drink it with him. He's probably the guy who also thinks that his date should feel obligated to have sex with him if he buys a nice dinner!

If I accept a drink from a customer, I am STILL going to try to close the sale in the next song or two. If he says no to a dance, I am leaving, full drink in hand. If he is offended, who cares!! We are at work to make money, not bend over backwards being "nice" for men with misguided notions. No need to be rude, because a customer who offers a drink right away is usually a good sign. I always say thank you for the drink, "I'm going to go find someone who will have some fun with me(or some such line)," and leave with a smile. Always remember that if you play nice you will probably be able to sell the same guy later, and that way he is "trained" to be a better customer next time around.

I wouldn't allow a drink sale to elongate how long you spend with a customer. Does your club offer shots? The great thing with shots is people expect you to drink the whole thing at once... which is particularly convenient if you do fake drinks... 1 "chilled vodka" = 1 shot of water. It's quick & easy to down, after which you can continue with your sale. I normally let customers know that they are welcome to bring their drinks with them to the lapdance area as well... so they don't feel rushed to finish it before we go for a dance.

I hate it when people ask me if I want a drink... I don't drink at all... So when I say soda they go on a whole ask if its wrong to drink in front of me or something that kills the mood..

Sadly, the extra 5-10 minutes is not me sitting with my drink - we are woefully understaffed with servers, so its 5-10 minutes of him getting someones attention, ordering, and waiting for the drink. Even if I took a "shot" and walked straight away, I would still sit there for five minutes waiting for the shot! I was honestly being a little sarcastic - explaining what goes through my head when they offer a drink instead of a dance...
If the sale is clearly not happening, I turn the drink down...I lost the need to be polite for free years ago! Lol

i thnk its because so many free whores (aka regular girls) go to nightclubs just looking for free drinks...as if drinks had any sort of nutritional value and you needed them to survive. it sucks. whenever a guy offers to buy me a drink i ask him if hes going to pay for my medical bills when i get cirrhosis. if a guy pulls that crap with you just ask him if he thinks drinks pay the bills or something.

To be honest with you, a drink for me is just as good as a tip. I would sit at the bar and usually the "practice guy" approaches me. The "practice guy" usually don't have a lot of money yet very talkative.....I love the practice guys because they help me get warmed up for the night. They throw compliments, engage in conversations and usually buy you 1 to 2 drinks....It helps me get the ball rolling for the night. It's a contribution for an easy night.

I don't even ask for tips or even a lapdance. I ask for VIPs and it works out for me.

    Are you an alcoholic?!

Sorry if I sounded rude, but you prefer a drink over extra money, then you probably have a drinking problem.

If all you drink are non alcoholic beverages, however, please refrain from paying attention to this post.

This. One of my besties used to have this problem. She was making 50% the money she should've been because she felt like she had to sit with customers after they bought her a drink. (nude club... so drinks were bigger the more they spent... even though you only got $5 or 10$ from the sale)
Once she got out of this nasty habbit she saw a pretty big jump in earnings because she had more time to hustle OTHER guys for dances.

Reading on I realize this isn't the case in this particular situation... but if any other girls reading this are spending an extra 10-15 whatever minutes chatting because they feel like they have to... stop!
