Tokyo still have that geisha thing going on where we can serve teas talk and make money?
Was wondering if there are any dancing potential clubs in Tokyo, or if anyone worked there recently
Would love to hear your experience

yeah, they still do that geisha thing. if you speak fluent japanese and don't mind training for a few years first. lol.
a few years ago, there were lots of threads about stripping in japan. haven't been any in a while. probably not worth it anymore.
-love everyone but keep them far from your soul-
last i heard... the clubs (whats left of them!) are full of eastern euro girls and extras. the old school foreign girls "geisha style" clubs your thinking of- one eyed jacks etc, have closed down. some years back actually i heard. pretty sure it was never rebuilt...
try GaijinPot.com online and see what clubs are now advertising positions, but chances are, its going to be tough work, and high milage.
5-15 years too late.sorry![]()

"Geisha thing" -_-
Those women train their entire lives to become a geisha. It was considered an honor to be one of them where they "serve teas talk and make money?"
I have a great respect for Japanese culture.
Do your research before you go blundering into Japan.
"Geisha thing" my ass![]()

Geishas were not just confined to Tokyo. There were numerous hanamachi scattered through Japan.
There's a lot more than "doing that geisha thing" besides "serve teas, talk, make money".![]()
Geisha are trained in music, dance and conversation. Some learn to play several musical instruments.
A geisha spends several years as a maiko, or apprentice geisha.
There's way more to being a geisha than a foreigner thinking you can just walk in and apply like your friendly neighborhood strip club.
ARGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! Sorry for the rant. I'm trying to learn Japanese and get a certification to teach English. It pisses me off when I see stuff like this posted.
If anyone wants to learn more about the life of a geisha, the American anthropologist Liza Dalby wrote a fascinating book called Geisha. She actually lived and worked among the geisha community of Kyoto for a few years learning the language, learning the customs, musical instruments, dance, the art of conversation, and tea ceremony.
She didn't just walk in and apply off the street.

i've heard they usually have the foreign girls working at those clubs outside to advertise and it's easy to get round up and deported for working without proper papers.

Thanks everyone... it just pisses me off when I see ignorant stuff like aforementioned post.
There are numerous hostess clubs with women of all nationalities, some working illegally.
Non coital sex acts are legal in Japan so there is a plethora of services for every sexual proclivity and price range.
I personally would not go to Japan do dance or do the original activity mentioned since I would be a bit over the hill in geisha years.![]()

Update: I showed this post the owners of Kabuki, my favorite Japanese restaurant in King of Prussia. They were laughing so hard they nearly pissed themselves. "Baka" was what they said when they stopped laughing. I got my meal free for providing mama-san with a good laugh.![]()
