Default Has anyone temporarily MOVED to avoid the cold weather ?

I kind of want to do this . I just HATE the winter and I'm already caught up in feeling like shit because of it ( I fight SAD with spectrum light + working out + tanning once a week 15 min. + eating healthy + vitamin D supplements now ). Even with my fighting ..... I offer feel sluggish ..... down ..... irriated ..... unable to focus ..... you name it. I'm tired of " falling apart " 3 months out of every year.

My non stripping job is flexible enough that I could actually do it in another area . I'm down to doing this only about 20-25 hours a week anyway and stripping a couple days a week. This has been a good mix for me other than a couple recent stripper trips gone bad / burn out.

So .... tell me if you've done this successfully ! I'm worried about the normal things : friends forgetting about me ( but I know some will visit ), family being mad , not being around to tell my brother to kick his shady girlfriend to the curb, and just the hassle of it all. I'm pretty adventurous too though! I've stripped all over ... like 6 states so far ! It's just that a 2.5 month trip ( or even a month ) one would be the longest I've been away from home. I usually do 3-7 day trips then come back a week , then do another, ect.

No one really supports the idea. I only pay $320 a month inclusive to live where I do ( I have one roomate who I don't think would mind if I subletted my room ).

This could be my little chance to try dancing where I actually LIVE instead of having to do these ridiculous drives to get to work. I have to drive FAR since I don't really want to dance in my home area + even if I did there is only one club that sells lapdances in the whole town . I really don't want another "Stripper license " on my paper record. I already have one for Rock Springs WY.

I find that just traveling more during the winter to work warmer places really helps my mood. I'm usually gone a few weeks out of every month. I don't know that I have any real desire to work anywhere long term, but I can enjoy being at the same club for a few weeks, & then going somewhere else.

The friends thing is hard, but I think keeping my calendar online helps because then they know if I'm home.

Before I just moved out here...
For three years straight I'd move to LA for the winter months to avoid the snow/cold.

I just kept paying rent for my place out there and found a place that was fully furnished out here.

Winter sucks. But then I have had my fill of it, having lived in Maine and Chicago for entirely too many years. Michigan as well, but that's less to whine and bitch about.

I don't even like winter here. Mostly because none of the old houses have heat, though. It gets down to 50-60 sometimes--even in the 40s occasionally, and without heat that is not comfortable. It is funny to see the natives running around in full Eskimo gear when it is 50 degrees, though!

I want to do it.. I'm just sick for the whole winter.. I want to buy a small house so during the winter I can be in the sun, drawing and painting the day away and dancing the night away.

its something that takes more than 3 or 4 winters to get used to...maybe it helps to be born into it.....lived in chicago & NY all my life...i love the winter....i love big snows...even the occasional below zero temps. Got a snowblower that i havent used in 3 years because i like shoveling.....get a beer, put it in the snow, & spend an hour outside clearing the drive & sidewalks.

By the time i start to get a little sick of it in early March.....you get a nice 50 degree day and it feels like summer.

The best thing i have heard in a strip club to date:
customer: we should get married right now! we should get a shotgun marriage!
me: uhh... i think you are misunderstanding what a shotgun marriage means. A shotgun marriage means you knock me up and my daddy shows up at your door with a gun and forces you to marry me and raise the baby. You mean elope.
customer: hmm... nah actually i will take the shotgun marriage. At least then we would be having sex.

I feel your pain and experience same. I'm looking for a place to rent for a month in southern FL for Jan or Feb, to recharge my batteries. I have more friends and biz there, then I do in MA anyway. If I can pull it off, I plan to get a small condo down there, and go back and forth as needed, and perhaps move totally, but I'm not convinced FL is right for me year round.

I moved permanently to avoid the cold... I love Canada, but seriously? Fuck that shit. The weather is really the only reason I live in Australia. I mean I like it here, but I'd rather be with my family IF canada was warm. But its fucking cold and I could never ever live in that again. My family and friends werent too happy but they sure love coming to visit me in January since thats the height of our summer.

I did the Canada to Florida thing for years.... And I just now moved back to canada and holy shit! It's fucking cold! I feel your pain.

Totally trying going someplace warm for a few months. Rent a bedroom, work at s new club and soak up the sun. I would much prefer that to where I am now....*shiver*
