    Default Odd little bumps

I have two itty bitty bumps on the outer side of my labia minora. They look like whiteheads.

Part of me thinks they're infected Bartholin Glands, but if I'm not mistaken aren't those glands located on the inner side of the labia minora, right next to the vaginal opening?

Both me and my boyfriend are clean. I got tested during my annual checkup a couple months ago and came back negative for everything. The only thing that came up was I had a bacterial infection because my pH was off or something.

They're tender (hurt when I wipe) and I get them just after I ovulate every month, during that dry period right before I start my period. They're not inflamed and I don't feel them when I'm not having sex or using the restroom.

Any idea what they could be??

Okay, don't know if this is gonna help, but here goes.

Even though Bartholin's gland is located where you said it is, bumps you get are cysts that form if the gland is blocked, not the gland itself. I had them occur several times, and they were never in the exact same spot, though always on inner labia. They felt like pea, sometimes pretty tiny, sometimes the size of the actual pea (though they can grow to the size of an egg, apparently). Hard to the touch, smooth and round below the skin and more often painful then not. I don't recall them ever looking like whiteheads, though ones time when I was feeling particularly masochistic, I squeezed it very hard between my fingers and there was a bit whiteish fluid coming out (this really is what they are, cysts filled with fluid). Other times I was also masochistic, but nothing came out.

My gyno just waved if off with her hand (I presume because they were small) and they indeed disappeared soon enough on their own.
I hope this info helps...despite the icky factor. Sorry everyone.

For anything that shows up down there, though, I'd schedule an appointment. It's your safest bet.

See and these bumps are almost exactly how you describe as having your cysts. Very small (about half the size of a pea), smooth, firm. They always show up when I'm dry and go away when I'm more naturally lubricated.

I've scheduled an appointment for tomorrow but I'm worried that my doctor will refuse to test me beyond a visual inspection because my insurance "only allows one free pelvic exam a year."

I think that visual inspection is normally enough to recognize these, but of course, I'm no doctor, I have no idea.
Also, don't you get more free exams if there's an actual health issue?

If it's that and they don't disappear or grow, I'd go to a private clinic. I always go to a private clinic anyhow, I rather pay 100$ for an appt then spend hours in the waiting rooms for doctors who mostly just want to get rid of you.

And as far as I'm aware, they're not dangerous, just pesky.

    Oh yes, definitely pesky.

I'm considering going to Planned Parenthood. I've heard good things from girls that get exams there.

And no, the way my insurance works with my doc is I get one free exam per year, and that's my annual "Well Woman" exam. Pelvic exam, swabs, blood work, all that. After that, I have to pay. My insurance will cover some of it, of course, but not all.

See if your county has public health. They use a sliding fee scale usually and can be a great bargain for such questions.

I am sure it's nothing. If it was herpes you wouldn't get a flare up monthly. Sounds like clogged sweat glands.

I'm going to agree with MistyRose, particulary because you get them around your period - probably do to a rise in hormones which causes more of your glands to clog up. Cysts/pimples are very common on the outter labia in younger women. You could have your doctor look at them, or just mention them & asked to be checked for staph infections as well, but I strongly think it sounds like cysts/pimples. I'm not sure how old you are, but if they are cysts/pimples you will stop getting them as you get older & your hormones slow down. In the mean time birth control that help regulate hormones & acne could be helpful to you.

I can't do hormonal birth control. It's why I"m on Paraguard. I'm 22. Right now the only regulatory stuff I'm taking is Spiro 25mg, but I'm thinking about asking for a dosage increase.

Autumn lily - if you figure it out please let me know. I've had the before too. I swear it was a large, hard whitehead on the inside of my vag, same location that youre describing. I would always pop them like a pimple, which just made things more painful as they would always come back twice as bad. At least I'm not the only woman who gets them....
