Default I got banned from Plenty of Fish!

I'm not sure whether to be angry or laugh. I had a profile at Plenty of Fish but didn't have luck so I put it to hidden. Mostly I read the profiles. Anyway on my profile I stated "don't contact me if you have kids". Very blunt, yes but got tired of getting messages from dads. Anyway I got an email, went there and it said I was banned. Long story short someone complained because I stated about not dating dads. Not that I care anyway since I hate online and didn't have luck there at all.

That's the whole point of dating online to save time and filter out people you don't want. That's pretty lame of them! PC gone silly.

if i decided to online date, i guess i'll avoid that site. i'm child free by choice, so apparently i shouldnt be on a dating site? i mean, wouldnt it save everyone a lot of time and disappointment if they knew up front we dont want to date parents? i think it would be more of a problem to have a misleading profile and screw ppl over.

It really was silly but some how there's this idea that women must take anything but men can be picky. I've seen nasty male profiles looking for 18 year olds but when I state dads don't contact me it's called "offesnive". Never had this problem when I did Match. Free is stupid I guess, though I know people who met on there.

So stupid ! Specific profiles are better than vague ones!
Maybe the phrasing was harsh but like you say , you have to be.

I never had luck on OkCupid. All I found were young guys, which would be ok but they were much younger (like 19) and lived 2-3 hours away. If I do online again I'll do Match or eHarmony.

wow...i have a profile on OkCupid and i put at the very beginning "i am not kid friendly. Your kid will not be the exception--i'm not looking to meet dads". I also put something about you must have a job and you must have a car. Not surprisingly i still get a ton of messages from dads, i think they just look at my picture and skip reading anything. I've seen plenty of guys with "no fatties" clauses on their profiles, to me that seems like it would offend more people. Banning someone for expressing their preference on a dating site seems a bit excessive to me.

I've seen a lot of no fatties statements and while I agree with them, that is harsh. The funniest ones are those guys (it's usually guys) who state no fatties but they are fat! One guy was 45 and had all these requirements including no fat women, must have long dark hair, etc. This guy was nothing to look at at all. No wonder he's 45 and still single.

Dude I'm surprised that your account got banned. Before I met Chris my profile said "White men only or light skinned hispanics, anyone else don't bother wasting your time because I won't reply". My account was active until last month when I deleted it. I was tired of the "your new matches" filling up my gmail.

They go after you for saying you won't date dads, but they let me keep my nazi-esque ad? Hypocrites...

It really is a joke and I basically created the profile to look for men who would compliment my looks. I got many of them but then realized that wasn't much fun so I realized it wasn't a god place to find people. I know people who have, but most people there seem like jokes. Apparently what happened is several guys emailed me to complain. I emailed them back and they got upset. They shouldn't have emailed me to begin with. Yeah, I've seen worse profiles, so this is why it surprised me.

I had luck on that site. Never put "no kids" but put a lot of other strict requirements. That's online dating for ya. There's plenty of other sites and plenty of IRL places to meet people too.

How is that any different then saying you only date guys over X height and so forth? People have every right to list their preferences. Had you said something like "I don't date men with kids because they are of poor moral character" or something like that, I can see the issue. Lots of women list they wont date guys over X age, etc, etc. so why should kids be any different? I don't date women with kids either as a rule.

Now I honestly think a lot of what some women write are shallow and limiting (like they will only date guys over 6' when they are 5'1" or they guy has to be between 25 and 28 when they are 33, he has to make 6 figures when they make 30k, etc, etc) but it's their right to do it as long as they are not adding some nasty/insulting remarks to it.

I don't look for women, but have heard women are big on height. Height has never been an issue for me. In fact most of my exes have been 5'9 or less, and I once had a crush on a 5'1 guy. No, I didn't list why I didn't date dads, and when a few guys asked I told them (basically the drama issues). There's other reasons why I don't date dads, but mostly the financial and the drama. Oddly, this is the one thing I am picky on. While I don't generally date obese men, this I probably could bend on if the guy was nice (and trying to lose weight).

Everyone has their non negotiable issues. For me, no smoking, no kids, and they have to work out in some form or another. They have to care enough about their body and health to do some form of exercise with dedication and passion...Everything else is negotiable.

In college back in the day, my GF was 5'11. 6'4" in some big heals, which I encouraged her to wear! I'm 5'7". Neither of us cared. Funny thing is, the outside world did. My own friends said they could never date a chick that much taller, and her friends said they could never date a guy that much shorter! People are sad and shallow...

    Like I said Fu^% 'em. Try Match.com I guess?

Years ago I did Match and no luck. I'm not big on online dating so won't do it again unless I get desperate. I really wasn't looking for anyone, keeping my options open if the one I want doesn't come around again. If he doesn't, I'm checking this one singles group I found out about that's a half hour-hour away from me but probably won't until the spring (we get heavy snow and I'm terrified of driving farther than I need to).

Take a night class at some college. Something you are interested in. That's a good one that at worst, you learn something you didn't know about before.

I can't afford to take a class, though I have considered it. I might though to help my skills, though the colleges out here really don't have people my age. I'm not really looking now for a guy until my situation (jobwise, guywise) clears up. Once I get a fulltime job I'm hoping to move to the city and that's where the jobs and the single men are.

That's not true. You'd be welcome no matter when you want to go. I saw an 80 year old graduate at my mom's commencement (when my mom was 40). It's never too late!

I should clarify, yes they have people my age but not SINGLE people my age. When I was in grad school between ages 31-33 there wasn't one single man in my class. There were people my age but not single. Doesn't matter since I really don't want to go back to school, spending 6 years in college/grad school was more than enough.

Haha I have been seeing this thread title and wondering what the hell kind of site would ban you, and for what. Now it is all clear. Their loss, I'd say...

I don't know about these dating sites. I got tricked into joining one because somehow on MySpace or Facebook or somewhere it said someone 'has a crush on you'. Naturally I was a sucker and signed up to see what that was all about. Then I figured it was a come on, but what the hell, I'd already spent the time going through the shit to sign up, so I put a couple pictures up and left it at that.

I still get 3-4 messages a day from the site, after 1 1/2 years of never, ever replying to them (you have to pay more for that, of course ). But almost all of them are from Keys area women in their 40s saying things like 'Do you like backdoor fun?' etc., with obviously fake pictures of magazine models. Once in a while I will see an attractive looking woman with a genuine message, but I still haven't ever followed it up.

I once got tricked into rejoining Match and I felt stupid. I had a membership a few years ago and for me it didn't work. Too many con artists, married men, etc. So I cancelled when it was over. Right away I get a message from a guy too good to be true.Stupid me (knowing I didn't have luck the first time) rejoined to contact the guy. Lo and behold he never responded. Yeah, right. I am not a fan of online anyway but Match got in trouble for doing that.

When I found out I was banned at POF I really wasn't upset, just amused mostly.
