    Default BA and nipple sensitivity

As I careen towards forty and after breastfeeding 4 kids for over a year each, I'm seriously considering a BA.

My ONLY conern is loss of nipple sensitivity. I don't know if it's a result of years of breastfeeding or just luck, but I can climax from nipple play alone and I would seriously hate to lose that.

Some of my friends have had BAs and one swears that her feelings in her nipples improved after, two have no sensation at all, and another says there's no change.

Ladies, what has your experience been?

I had my BA through the under crease and under muscle (if you need this info)

I had feeling in my nipples from the first week, they were really sentensive, when putting clothes on, taking a shower etc. Now the sensitivity decreased but, its more than I remember. I still jump and twitch when I touch them.

I also had hypersensitivity right after the operation. Now they are normal which is very sensitive. I also had crease incisions.

I had an areolar incision and had almost no sensation for a month or two. This was followed by extreme hypersensitivity, which took probably a year to 18 mos to completely subside and unfortunately made nipple play very uncomfortable.

Aside from a tiny area on the outside of my right boob which is entirely numb (but completely unnoticable unless I touch only that particular dime sized spot), I now have normal sensation (thank gawd, cause the hypersensitivity suuuuucks).

It's important to ask where the incision was, because nipple incision has the greatest likelihood of affecting sensitivity. When you go thru the crease, arm pit or belly button and place the implant under the muscle, you aren't disturbing the nipple directly. In those cases, what causes loss of sensitivity is the size of the implant. The larger you go, the more the nerves get stretched, and the higher the chance of nerve damage-which may or may not repair itself. I went with a crease incision, with rather large implants. I did have some loss of sensation, not on the nipple, but on the underboob area, below the nipple and above the incision. My nipples were not affected. Over the years sensation in that area has come back, but not completely.

No sensation at all really - but I had little to no sensation to begin with (tuberous breasts) so its not entirely the BAs 'fault'.

    I had areola incisions.
