A few questions:
Does the site have any policies on models advertising their own personal websites/members' sites? Where does the site stand on models self-promoting projects outside the site? Are we allowed to sell content with our own logos/URLS burned into them, for instance?
Are you keeping the function for "goals" and if so, will the model be able to post her own goals or different goals at a time?
This does sound rather intriguing but I wouldn't want it to become oppositional to my goals of supporting my own indy-cam business. One thing I hate about MGF is they somehow want girls who cam but are exclusively confined to that one site (they make you sign a non-compete upon applying). Are your policies around this issue?
Thanks!

Hi there-
answers to your Q's
We do have a no advertising policy so you wouldn't be allowed to promote other interests. Obviously we need to protect our investment. We wouldn't last long if the site was just a vehicle for participants to meet our members and point them elsewhere.
Naturally we love having cam models as Virtual Girlfriends. We've taken a policy decision not to offer live cam not just to make the site different for our members but also for the women that get involved (as they know that they're not going to be asked to live cam during the time they're on our site). If we were to allow Virtual Girlfriends to advertise live cam elsewhere we wouldn't just be losing business but we would also have all the women on the site constantly being harassed to give out live cam aliases and immediately go to meet up on a live cam site.
On the subject of goals, we were all for them to begin with. Feedback that we got from this forum convinced us that the majority of Virtual Girlfriends would feel uncomfortable with a system that gave a guide to earnings. We're happy for anyone who wants to to post details of how much they've made/how far they have to go, but we won't be making any of this available to members ourselves. We do think that members will be interested in what goals you'll be spending your money on, so we include that as part of your profile.
Would participating be "oppositional" to your indy-cam business goals? Only in so far as you wouldn't be able to advertise that business. Otherwise we don't look to replace anyone's live cam activity - just add another income option. As we have an automated 'pay to see' content system you can stack up a pile of things for our members to buy and they can buy them whether you're on-line to make the sale or not. By definition live cam is not likely to be making you money when you're chilling out watching TV or asleep in bed. Virtual Love Affair is something you can dip into on your downtime and make sales on all the time.
No one that joins us is exclusively confined to us. We recognise that most of our Virtual Girlfriends are web professionals with other interests. We just think that this is something else they might be able to fit in. Non-compete clauses are anyway almost universally invalid and we wouldn't want one anyway.
For non-compete clauses from any business that uses California as the jurisdiction for it's terms and conditions? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-compete_clause - scroll down to California and have a good laugh. The fact is there's pretty much nowhere in the western world that will uphold a non-compete clause for anyone lower down the professional food chain than a nuclear scientist. It's called 'restraint of trade' and generally frowned upon in the wonderful world we call capitalism.

I, personally, won't work for a site that prohibits me from posting content that has my personal URL burned onto it. Are you saying you would NOT prohibit me from burning my URL/logo onto my content that I sell through your site's pay-to-view? Obviously, passive income is attractive (not something new so please quit acting like you invented pay-to-view content sales) but what's the point of making money off my content when I can't even claim it on THAT site as MY exclusive content? What's the point of branding myself if you won't let me site my brand when I sell it through you?
I understand your stance on it, which is why I have goals to work primarily for myself and then only for sites that don't see such tactics as competitive to their own. Ladies, if you want to have a great pay-to-view option for your guys or stores for exclusive conent sales, you really should just stick to the Clips4Sale/Kinkbomb-style places. Even signing up for NF and using only the PTV buttons is a great option. They are neutral, offer more payment options (some of us DETEST the e-wallet shit) and are catering to those of us who truly want to optimize our earnings and control how we drive our traffic to ourselves. Stop essentially selling your content to these types and control it completely.
This isn't doing anything for us that hasn't been done before and certainly not as or more effectively.

Sorry if I wasn't clear, I was saying that we don't allow content with offsite links burned onto it (as this goes against the no advertising policy).
I'm certainly not claiming that we invented pay-per-click, but I think it's worth pointing out that we operate it as it makes us different from the "nail every sale in chat" approach required at MGF.
I don't think that we're the same as sites like Clips4Sale/Kinkbomb on a number of levels. With them there's no personal connection with the models producing the content, they take a larger cut of earnings and they generally seem to be filled with a jungle of anonymous content trawled from the net.
I can't see how you get enough of a profile or following on any of these sites to make automatic sales. Naturally you could use any of those sites as a sales point that you direct people you meet on live cam to - but then that's really a sale you made on cam.
The alternatives you're suggesting don't seem to give any scope for women making their personalities part of their on-line sales strategies (unless you're simply suggesting that they use them as content sale banks - in which case, why make a lower percentage?).
Nobody is selling their content to us - we're a marketplace. As for control, you retain the copyright.
Being able to advertise on sites that you participate in is obviously something that's vitally important to you so our no advertising policy naturally rules us out. Clearly you have a strong focus on what works for you and a healthy suspicion of site operators and I respect that. However the alternatives you're suggesting actually don't seem like a better deal in terms of facilities or financial reward for anyone that doesn't need all of their sold content to be burned through with another site's URL.

VLA goes live in like a week!! I'm so excited!!
Quick question re: watermarking... Can we watermark with just our name? Like could I put for example, "Miss Ego", if that were my name on VLA, across my pictures?

Yes, you can watermark with your site name if you like. And thanks for reminding me that I had to pop on here and leave a "going live next week" message (exact day to be announced - and I will remember to come back and post it here when we have the day set). $25 pre-launch bonus expires on launch day, so if you think the site might work for you, now's a good time to get involved.
Everyone who has been part of this thread has been a great help in informing our approach, allowing us to explain our thinking and boosting our recruitment. Many thanks to you all for your time.
it is up and working or not yet?
How long does it take to get approved? I signed up like 2 or 3 days ago and haven't heard anything back.

I was approved pretty quickly; log in and look in the top right corner of your profile - does it say "awaiting approval" or "profile live on site"? (or something similar to those).

Now it is. Lol.
I can't remember. Are we supposed to upload a picture of us holding a piece of paper with our name or something? Can't remember if it was this or another site I signed up on.

I have two pictures on my page of me holding a piece of paper with "Virtual Love Affair" and my model name written on it.

Bottom right of your profile there is a box for uploading pictures that says:
ID/fansign images show you (with your face visible) holding a card with the site name. These images prove to members that you are the person in your profile. DO NOT upload copies of personal ID documents - we have to remove them for your personal safety.
Your Profile image must show your face.

Ok. Thanks! Probably why I haven't been approved yet. I don't have those up yet. My camera just broke so I'll have use my webcam for the time being till I get a new one. Luckily I already have a bunch of pictures I can upload so I'll have some content up.

I used my webcam for those pics as well.
You can only upload max 250k for a photo, so you might want to edit those before you upload; the site seems to load pages really slowly for me, so it's always a pain when my pictures are too big.

I do not like the idea of not being able to delete the content we upload, i understand we cannot delete content that's was bought by a custy, but by mistake i uploaded a picture twice and now i cannot delete it... bs.
^^Yeah thats the only issue I have so far with virtualloveaffair. I wanted to change my profile fan sign pix to something more flattering (took the pix w/no makeup because I didn't realize the custys would see those pix! lol) and I want to take one down from my public area but it won't let me. Besides that I am really excited for the official launch of the site!
yeh site sounds great to me really! but now im doubting becouse of that...! what to do...
If you don't want an image to display on your profile you can either 1/. move it to your private folder using the image editing page (unless you attach it to a content package no one else will ever see it but you) 2/. send us a message and ask us to delete it and we will.
The reasoning behind not having a delete button is that it means participants have a permanent visual record of the content that they have uploaded to the site. This may not seem too important when we're just starting out, but after the site has been running a while it means you don't have to remember what you've already uploaded or used in a content package.
As said, if it's in your private folder and you don't attach it to a content package you're the only person that will ever see it. Hope this helps - and if you really want to lose a duplicate image rather than have it sitting unused in your private folder, let us know and we'll get rid of it.
Once the fansigns have been approved they're locked down. This is because we don't want to have to keep going back and approving new fansigns on live accounts. Unless we checked them again every time an ID image was changed a Virtual Girlfriend could swap her fansign images for others that are not valid fansigns.
If you want to swap a fansign image we are happy to do that for you - just send an email with the new fansign image to (including your site name) and we'll get it changed.
Can we put our wish list in our profile?
We're saying no to wishlists for now, but we'll review in the future.
We appreciate that often someone might want to send you a wishlist item with no strings, but there are other times when they'll send something as part of an informal deal (e.g. you've agreed to let them have a picture set featuring a wishlist item of clothing or for item x you'll send them content y).
At the moment we've got a simple content package sale model - member pays you x, they get instant access to content y. With this system we can always be sure that our members have got what they paid for. If we allow the option of side deals through wishlist item exchanges for content items or promises, we immediately have the possibility of members being let down by a Virtual Girlfriend not delivering whatever their side of the bargain was. We don't want to have that possibility at the moment.

When you review the possibility in the future... What about having a wishlist feature on the site, like MyFreeImplants? It'd have to be set up similar, I'd imagine, so that personal contact info wasn't given out... I believe they only allow items sold by Amazon to be put on the list, so that the guys don't have access to the girls' shipping address.
And if that gets set up, how about having certain content only available to someone who buys off the wishlist? Example... If I have a pair of shoes from Amazon on my list, the guy who buys me the shoes gets my Valentines Day photo shoot pictures, or something. I have no clue if that'd be possible to set up so that it's instantaneous like the current model, I'm just thinking it'd be cool.
