i wasn't sure where else to post this but just wanted to rant for a minute about this utter stupidity i dealt with tonight.

i have an old regular (i.e. a guy who used to spend tons on SM, but barely comes around anymore but still keeps in touch) who has been talking about doing a skype show with me forever. we chat via twitter DM. over a year ago i told him about my indie payment processor, and to let me know when he'd be interested. at the time we had never discussed rates or any details yet. lately he's been hitting up my inbox talking about doing a show soon but being incredibly vague so i'm just like, great, just let me know when you're free.

he comes into my SM room tonight, joins a gold show, then says "any chance we can play after? wink" so i was like "yeah finally!" so i finish the gold show, log out, hop over to twitter DMs, and we start talking.

long story short, i tell him i'll add him on skype as soon as i get payment and ask how long he wants to go for, then awkwardness ensues. he writes "oh i don't know how long what i sent would cover. we never discussed that." so i said, "wait what do you mean "what you sent"? i don't see anything."

so i search for him on my indie site transactions and lo and behold find a $100 tip from A YEAR AGO... it was literally a "happy new years" tip, which is what i took it as because we never discussed otherwise. he basically was like "oh yeah that was prepayment for a show, i can't afford more right now"

like WHAT?! dude what the hell, your random tip from one year ago was just that. a TIP. and you've been talking me up for over a year thinking that tip was going to get you a skype show? omg.

so i had to be like "um no i'm super sorry but this whole time i was expecting you to actually pay for your show."
