A lot of strippers don't take their cars to work, as they don't want customers following them, getting their license plate, etc. They hire drivers or ride with friends.
So they may own, but they may not bring it to the club.
A lot of strippers are bad with money.
The fact that they constantly have money coming in leads to poor money management skills and the inability to save anything.
One of my best friends makes enough money in a week to buy a semi-decent well running car... yet half the time she has to borrow money to pay her rent and pay people back later.

Don't you ever sleep?
Not at night...that's when the stars have rather better things to do. They're coming out, shining, that sort of thing.

The majority of my good stripper friends can't drive, so there's no need to have a car
I've never driven a single foot in a car!

i see this problem too, or all my stripper friends have warrants, or their liscenses suspended for DWI, or have those blower things installed in their cars, or whatever. it drives (no pun intended) me CRAZY. WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU WOMEN. PAY YOUR SPEEDING TICKETS. DON'T DRIVE DRUNK. THIS IS A SIMPLE CONCEPT. >.<
At my old club, a lot of girls either had serious problems saving up to get a vehicle (though the club was in suburbia, and so getting a cab home was ludicrously expensive), or they had never gotten a license, or their license had been revoked for a DWI. Like five of the girls had those breathalyzers in their cars, and they'd get smashed every day at work anyways, and get a sober customer to go out and blow in it so they could drive home.
I can see why this would be. It has gotten much harder to get a loan, and many dancers don't report or deposit their income. When its hard for regular people to get a car loan, its going to be doubly hard for strippers with no proof of income to get a car!

In albuquerque we do it mexican style, 10 to a car, you get it, ese?![]()

I never use to drive to work because I would drink at work. So my husband would always take me. Then we lost our car, and I started taking the bus to work.
Then finally got a car, and girls would automatically assume I was a taxi. I don't mind giving rides once in awhile, but when it started to get expected....I just said my car was fucked up and I could only drive to and from work eventually.

There's also a negative flip side. These days, every time a new car title is registered with a state motor vehicle department, the IRS is automatically informed of who the buyer is ( name, address and SS# ), the purchase price, the terms of any loan payments etc. From there, IRS computers then run a cross-check versus past tax return filings to see if the new car owner's previously reported income is in the right 'ballpark' to allow them to afford purchasing such a new car given their amount of reported income versus the 'normal' costs of living in their particular zip code area. If there is a major discrepancy, an IRS audit will probably soon follow. It has gotten much harder to get a loan, and many dancers don't report or deposit their income. When its hard for regular people to get a car loan, its going to be doubly hard for strippers with no proof of income to get a car!
There have been a couple of fairly high profile incidents along these lines in the NYC area recently. It seems that some dancers were reporting incomes on the order of $40k per year ... but they somehow managed to save up $40k+ to purchase 'nice' new cars in a zip code area that typically requires at least $20k per year in rent + utilities + food !!! IRS audits resulted in the IRS 'estimating' that their actual income level was more like $100k per year ... resulting in these dancers receiving a bill for back taxes due on three years worth of additional $60k in unreported annual income ( which cost more than the new cars did ! )

^ Excellent point, Melonie!
My ex-GF reports her dancing income just as you described above and does everything possible to leave a small tax footprint... leases her car, rents her condo, etc.
When life gives you lemons, make lemonade... then find someone whose life gave them vodka, and have a party.

Interesting... most the girls I have worked with do have cars. Some good ones too. But most dont drive to work because they want to drink.

Someone mentioned the need to have a not so nice vehicle bc people do like to damage ur vehicle bc they r just shitty and perhaps jealous n general--or o no u happen to make more money than them that nite..Yea that kids of stuff does happen. Ive thought of getting another vehicle--and driving the one I have now just to work bc its already n bad shape. I wouldnt want to drive anything nice to any bar-club. People r just too shitty and cant be trusted around anything nice. But yea I own my vehicle even though it really isnt worth much.
Most clubs are in Downtown here.. and its a pain in the ass to drive around downtown here, espically with finding parking. Most girls I know, take cabs home, some took busses/trains home because they lived near the area, so the cost wasnt much. I drive to work, since I dont live in the area of the clubs, that the cab would end up costing more than my gas.. as well as taking a bus/train home at 12-2am scares me with all the stuff I carry.

Some places people make extra money driving strippers home. The night deposit, Wallgreen's, -----------> Apartment express.
Minivan and a good rep. All under the radar.
No Sarge doesn't.

Some folks brought up good points...
-some dancers, knowing they're gonna drink at work (or be tempted to) don't wanna drink and drive, so they carpool or take cabs
-it's hard to get financed for a car when you don't have proof of income (if you only started dancing after tax season you don't have a tax return to show the auto companies either... which is what happened when I tried to get my first car last year)
-there are some dancers who are terrible w/ money, make very little money or have a buncha DUI's... but I think this depends on the club/region
I grew up in Miami, my family didn't own a car and my mom didn't know how to drive, plus in miami you can get almost anywhere at any time of night without a car. I grew up knowing the public transportation system like the back of my handMy bf and I only sorta have a car now because his parents gave us their old station wagon, but it broke down recently and we're gonna need a couple grand to fix it, in the meantime I pay $40/day in cabfare to and from work so it's hard to save up. I still don't have a license, because it's actually very hard to get a license in this state when you're 25 and don't have a working vehicle or much driving experience. (or if you think that's bad, try getting it when you also don't have a vehicle, don't have anyone patient enough to teach you, don't have insurance and aren't on anyone else's insurance...)

I take transit when possible or in the summer time I ride my bike (yup even home at 2am!).
I do drive often, but I am a very thrifty person and I don't like spending money on gas.
I own a 2004 Chrysler Sebring, its kinda getting old now (about 150 kms on it or around 90,000 miles) but still runs like a charm. No major problems or accidents. I bought it when it was a year old, six years ago.
six years ago I was in better shape financially and thus was able to buy a nearly new car. Now while I may have some savings (around $3500 saved), my credit is shot. I bought my Sebring for about $20,000 from a dealership and financed about half of it. I finished paying off my loan early, about 2 years ago.

I know TO very well so I hear ya sister!
Cabs at nighttime can be your safest/most convenient bet. Getting "door to door" service by a cab is worth it if you live within 20 minutes of the club. If you have enough confidence and know downtown well then TTC is good too, I would just not wear/show anything too expensive. Try to blend in with the crowd and not stand out. I TTC'd it to and from the club at night, but was just careful not to look "expensive".

i have a car
although now i wish i didnt..everyone ALWAYS asks me for a ride home. annoying..

Either what the lovely Kandie said or you just hang around a lot of broke strippers. Which ain't goodLOL.
