Default Sick? Come in, we need you.

At the club where I work the girls are encouraged to come in no matter how sick they are. Consequently everyone is always sick. Is this standard practice?

Most clubs don't encourage it, but they come in anyways even if they are coughing up a lung. Next bitch to get me sick I'm putting in the morgue. I was sick for 2 weeks back in November.

IF YOU ARE SICK STAY THE FUCK HOME!!!!! IT IS COMMON COURTESY AND WORKING ONLY HINDERS YOUR RECOVERY!!!

My club doesnt have a set schedule, and if like one other girl showed up on a monday night, then yeah they would like you to come in if its something minor (cold).

The one time I worked when sick, the DJ asked why I was there, and why I came in.

We have had a girl who hurt her knee and was in a brace once, and they didnt put her on stage, she pretty much sat at the bar, and the DJ would carry her to VIP if a custie wanted to go. She wore a flip flop on the other foot, but didnt do any table dances.she would just go with custies who wanted companionship, and a pretty lady to talk to in VIP

If I even have a sign of being sick I stay home... but I'm told you can give it to others before you even show signs of being sick..

Where I work, even if you have such a bad cold that you can't even talk you are expected to come in to work. I told the boss, what are customers going to think when a girl who is so sick she can barely whisper in a hoarse voice asks for a lap dance with the loud music drowning her out? He was like, "Just come in, we need you." If he really wants to he can fire my ass cause I ain't going in.

I think they wanted me there so badly because it was Christmas Eve and no doubt most of the girls took the holiday off. That and if I remember correctly from last year, Christmas Eve isn't a money night.

In my last club if you were sick and let the club know in good enough time they didnt want you to come in. If you were sick on the day they still expected you to turn up but would then send you home and you couldnt work the next shift.

Last christmas i had swine flu, was the most ill ive ever been and the manager called me at 10pm to ask me to come in as only one other girl had turned up. I went to work, did two hours, made £100 and went home as we closed at 1am. I looked like death warmed up but the manager knew if he asked me id go in. When i did turn up and told them i had swine flu all he asked was that i didnt tell the big boss! lol.

I would never have gone in if there hadnt only been one other girl working as id never wish how ill i felt on any other person ever and i was so drugged up on cold/flu/tamiflu medication that i was delirious lol

I think it depends. I've noticed clubs that are more greedy want you to come in no matter what. For instance one club I worked at had a rule that if you had a doctor's note you didn't have to pay but if you didn't, you had to pay house. However the managers liked me so when I called in sick they knew I really was sick and didn't have to pay. Another club didn't care if you had a doctor's note, they didn't charge house as long as you called in.

Probably the worst example was a lingerie company I briefly worked for. I worked a week and found out that not only did you have to pay the company, you also had to often pay the bar. So one evening I worked 2 hours at this bar, made hundred, and after paying the club and the agency I made $40! Needless to say I made about $200 for one weelk doing shows so I was going to quit anyway. However that Saturday I got really sick and had to call in. Their rules were if you had a doctor's note you still have to pay the fee and without a note you got charged double. So basically they told me that before I worked another day I had to pay all these fees. I said ok, knowing I wasn't going back. Long story short, I had a friend take over the money I owed from the previous shows and he told them I would call them when I was out of the hospital. I wasn't in the hospital, just a lie I told to avoid paying more. For weeks they kept calling but I told them I wasn't ready to go back. Eventually they quit bothering me and the owner was eventually busted for prostitution.

For some reason I've had more problems with this in strip clubs than I did in regular jobs. Regular jobs actually told me not to come in sick. Strip clubs wanted me to come in practically on my deathbed. Yet at these places I was paid but the clubs I paid them.

This is ridiculous. If its any consolation, lots of non-stripping jobs are like this too. So, you have a nasty sinus infection or the flu or mad diarrhea...things that don't require a doctor but are super contagious...they make you come to work anyway, or spend your day and your money sitting in a medical clinic versus at home convalescing.

Its all a mess. And it makes no sense. But plenty of strippers (and other workers) flake so much using illness as an excuse...

As much as having no schedule can lead to too many girls a night, I feel blessed that I almost always worked non-schedule clubs. If I didn't want to work or felt genuinly sick, no problem.

I would not go in sick and I don't like it when other girls do go in sick.

There is one girl at one of the clubs I used to work at that used to always clean the pole (she brought some all purpose spray cleaner and a rag) as part of her stage show. She refused to follow any girl (on stage rotation) who came in sick and was very vocal to the management about it. I can't say I disagreed with her!

I think part of the reason people say the sex-industry is bad is because essentially we are reduced down to marketable goods and I have noticed that management/ownership views us (in my situation) only as merchandise or potential income. I suspect this tends to be more evident in the sex-industry but really I think this is an element in any business and in any relationship but the sex-industry reminds some people of what they don't want to know. It is a reminder to me that we all must look out for number one because you really can't depend on anyone else.

The last club I worked at expected you to come in - sick or not. If you were on the schedule, you needed to be there. It sucked big time.

in my last club everyone constantly had bronchitis coz of the dirty air con vent and the fact that it was always set to really cold. halfway through a shift i developed a high fever and i couldnt talk or swallow and my boss didnt let me go, he told me to lie down in the ice cold changeroom

also, he didnt accept doctors certificates because he was sure the girls were faking and making it themselves.

in my current club i dont have to go in, plus theyre overloaded with girls they wouldnt need me.
its only if i have to go home early during a shift for being sick, if its not to severe i might have to wait around for an hour before they let me go

I WISH this was the case at my work.

The ONLY reason why I'm currently sick is because of girls at my work.
No one else I hang around is sick right now.

Well, there are some serious horror stories here. I thought it was tough where I worked. Your schedule gets affected for the next month if you call out *too much* (I had strep and was out for a week). But generally the manger is good about it as long as you give him enough notice to get another girl for your shift. Some times you'll have to find someone to work for you, but most of the time he'll find someone for you. I feel very lucky. We have a pretty awesome manager where I am.

I don't get sick often or for very long but when I am sick then I don't go into work because the loud music and cigarette smoke really irritates me to the point that I get aggravated. None of the clubs that I work at make me had a schedule and if they did and begged me to come in while I was sick I'd tell them to fuck off I'm not their employee.

If some asshole club told me to come in sick, they better have lots of spending customers in the club with little girls in it. Yeah right.

In all seriousness. IDK how the fuck someone could even work like that. One of my clubs has a sign in the dressing room saying that if you're sick, do not come in. This should be in every club.
