I mentioned before about my friend who was like 45 & jumped into marriage with a guy. In a month he'd totally taken them both into $160K debt, plus she found out after the wedding that he had a fetish for cross dressing in women's lingerie... those type of "strange". I've mentioned their situation on here before because he kept breaking into the house, sending nude photos of her around the net & to her employer... total wacko.

Another female friend got involved with a guy that was still a virgin at 40. He was really socially awkward. Then they slept together & it just got worse... he became super clingy - worse than I've ever seen. When he proposed & she turned him down (as well as broke up with him) he became the total stalker type. Took over a year to get rid of him.

If you find one who's just been super picky you'll be set... its just taking the time to distinguish them from the others.
Those guys sound creepy. Any guys who are clingy or want marriage fast really make me creeped out because my experience is guys who are clingy tend to become obsessed and guys who want marriage fast are either desperate to marry or have ulterior motives, like they are con artists.

Well, I guess I'm in the minority!!!! I DO want a gorgeous ring and a beautiful ceremony. The ceremony doesn't need to be ridiculous and outrageously expensive -- I just want it to be tasteful and elegant and have my most important family members and friends (as well as his) there.

The ring, though? My dream ring is a three-stone oval diamond ring with a platinum band:

Call me crazy, but I'm in love with it!

However, if I couldn't have that ring (which is obviously super expensive, so the odds are that my SO wouldn't be able to buy it), I think I'd lean more toward something like Kylea2 would want...something personal, customized, etc.

For me the ceremony is a must. I will absolutely not marry unless I get the ful church ceremony and big reception with the big train and dress. Years ago I didn't want this, but it's a non bendable thing. I'm not saying a wedding with 4000 people, but a nice one. Figure I'll marry once so I want to live it up.

^^^ If I can ever handle the thought of photographing or even being at another wedding again, I'll totally be there!
    Don't you ever sleep?
Not at night...that's when the stars have rather better things to do. They're coming out, shining, that sort of thing.

    I feel the same way.
Beside, the "M" in marriage stands for Money. Not Love.
And I hate to be a negative nancy on the subject... but I'm terribly against precious jewels. For political and world reasons.

That's just my two cents! But I can still appreciate the beauty and excitement a woman is surrounded with when she's been proposed to. My best friend just got engaged herself. I'm happy she's happy and it works for her.

My engagement ring and wedding rings are both antique Edwardian/Art Deco. I never thought a lot about what kind of ring I wanted, but I find this style beautiful and plus they are antiques and thus not furthering the diamond trade.

I did have a pretty fancy wedding but it was mostly because my parents wanted to pay for and plan it. In the end I am gad we did it, but if I had not had their support we would have just gone to the courthouse or to Vegas.

That's why if I marry I will have a fancy wedding. It would mean so much to my parents and I could never let them down. Besides, a big reception with drinks and dancing means a lot to me.
