Question Anyone does webcam from hotel/motel ?

I need advice from those with experience doing camshows from hotels/motels.

Can the hotels/motels monitor from the wireless internet they offer which sites you're viewing also the same with IM chat application skype/yahoo,etc?

I want to ask them this question, but I didn't want to look so suspicious my concern is if I would get privacy when using the wireless internet they provide.

When you're using the wireless connection from the hotel/motel, the speed is it good and stable ?

If you like to share any good and bad experience doing camshows from hotel/motel, I would like to read as well.

i worked out of an inn for almost a month. don't know if they monitored anything, but really wouldn't care because it's a motel, not a monastery. no one ever gave me any looks and the owner and i became cool (he didn't know what i was doing though). honestly, they probably wouldn't care as long as you're not escorting out of it. i was at a place with a really good wireless connection, so it was never dropped. i never received any complaints from custies in chat, and i did chat with HD. make sure you ask and check to see if the connection is good before you get a room.

edit: i also seen that you were worried about your personal information. i'm not a techie so i wouldn't know how to prevent fraud from happening, but no one has used anything against me, or has my personal info on hand. i did look at my credit report last month, too.

I wouldn't even stress about the possibility of internet browsing history being traced, considering that it's a hotel, and mad people are probably up in there committing adultery left and right. And even if your browsing history was traceable, it wouldn't even be a big deal, unless the hotel is run by a bunch of "holier-than-thou...you're goin to hell, missy!" broads...lol.

I've never used hotel WI-FI cuz I just bring my Sprint data connection card anyway (I pay enough money for it every month...might as well use it), but an issue that I have with camming in hotel rooms is the real shitty lighting. Even if you move your laptop as close as possible to that lame-ass hotel lamp, you still end up looking real cheesy on cam. Back in August when I was in a Long Island, New York motel for my birthday, I remember getting on cam briefly (I think it was ImLive) and either making no money or maybe a dollar or two. But at that time, I was still focused on ImLive and wasn't really doing anything with MFC or AW. Thinking about it now, I probably would've gotten some love from the MFC guys being that I was the birthday girl.

Thanks for replying back to me about your experience doing webcam at inn. I used to long time ago do house keeping at motel this was way before wireless access on laptops to guests. I just remember it had rules about respecting the guest privacy thinking that may still apply to those using wireless.

This is good to know about the lighting I'm going to bring my own extra lights to plug in the walls just in case if the lighting from the room looks bad will test it out to see how it shows up on webcam. Thanks!

Ok, I gotta get a Logitech 9000, cuz it seems like A LOT of cam girls have it and are happy with it, and I know CandieCane (a top-earning host on MFC) uses it (one of her chatters asked her what kind of cam she has).

    I'll get one from eBay.

Which of the two is best? Or are they equally as good?

I have Logitech, but the one I have is for the Mac and the quality compare to the i-sight have built in my Mac book is so much better. I used to needed three lights just to balance out the lighting and now only need one light. A long time ago, when I had windows I did had logitech and the quality was good but it's from way back in 2004 and know they did upgrades since then.

I do next want to get video camera with remote control but finding one for a mac is tough probably will get one when can get windows.

Hun I've worked in 4 different hotels and never once did we check browser history hun. We knew when ppl brought escorts in and we new when escorts stayed there. We didn't even care about the escorts staying there when they dropped by because it was more about "Damn! Did you see those shoes? Where did she get those? Do you want to ask her? I'll ask her. I want a pair!" So don't even worry about thr browser hister, just figure out the damn lighting.

I have a c910 and I will note that the software periodically needs a clean install. It's had a fit and distorted audio for me, sometimes no video (this while recording videos, not while live) and sometimes it does this stupid thing where it freezes the flash applications until you reinstall.

I've spoken to two other camgirls who have had the flash issue, but no one yet with the dumb corrupted audio/video issue so that may just be me.. anyways, for all problems I reinstall and am good again for a few weeks!

    Been there, done that.

They don't care. People do worse things in hotel rooms. ;-) As long as you dont trash the place, and you pay your bill, they are happy.

But make sure that the internet is 1) FAST, and 2) Unlimited, for no extra charge. None of this "5 dollars for 2 hours of surfing" BS. I think in North America it's mostly unlimited everywhere, these days.

Yes, your bigger problem will be the lighting. I've gone so far as to pack my own lampBut that was before, when I had my quickcam orbit, which was shittier in dim lighting. And yes.... now that I have a logitech 9000, the lighting is wayyyy less of an issue! Sometimes I even turn the lights DOWN when I am camming, to give that sexy, mysterious 'woman in the shadows' look. ;-) Customers love it... and it accentuates the curves of your bod.... faboo!

*To the lady that is getting Windows 7: I have it, and it rocks. I highly recommend!!!

    -J

PS. Oh yeah... the other thing I would worry about in a hotel room is, how thin are the walls? Are your neighbours gonna call the front desk if you are moaning loudly at 2am? Try for a room with the fewest neighbours. Good luck!!

argh, keep trying to post this and keep getting cut off..

I really want to get one of those data cards but had read there is a limit on bandwidth. Have you run into extra charges with that from camming or anything?

There's no extra charges, because I chose the unlimited plan. Being that I get online every day for several hours at a time, there was no way I was buying one of the other plans (being limited to x hours of internet per week/month) that limits your amount of time of net access, so I knew that unlimited access was definitely the way to go.

Dammit, I probably should've waited just a tad longer before committing to buying that Logitech C910 cam on eBay, cuz I still haven't gotten Windows 7 upgrade yet (I'm on Vista), and this new cam might have compatibility issues with Vista?

All this talk of the C910 got me all excited. I really should've just got Windows 7 first (I've been talking about it for some time now). Oh well. Either way, I'll have both Windows 7 and an awesome new webcam soon.

This reminds me of a time before I did webcam. I booked a room at Best Western and they had thin walls. I had to hear late in the night people getting it on had to use my ear plugs and listen to music to help go to sleep.

I tried to cam from a hotel room before, and everybody here is right, the lighting made it impossible. I want to start again, and due to my roommate, I wont be able to talk on cam (I can have sound on, but will have to type everything) I decided after the first of the year, cam at home a few times a week, and to get a hotel room once a week for camming only...and instead of bringing lamps from home, I was thinking about buying a few of those 100watt handy-lamp thingy's that construction workers use. I haven't priced them out yet, but they cant be too expensive. Plus you can fit them right into your travel bag

Ooh, Wingate Inn is NICE and has nice jacuzzi suites with a nice, comfy bed, large t.v. and video game system, and I think a sofa.

Camming in a hotel is very easy. I've done it while on tour. Just pack work lights and have your logitech cam handy

I'm very curious to how you did caming on the train. Did you have a private area while being aboard on the train ?

This is one of the reasons why want to do cam from hotel/motel. I'm not going to be able to afford to all the time get expensive hotel with Jacuzzi, but do want to take photos of me in Jacuzzi. Other times when being in standard hotel/motel want to do bubble bath shows.
