Reminder Scope Requirement to work in Vegas

So along with your business license and sheriffs card, you now need a Scope to work at Spearmint Rhino in Las Vegas. I'm pretty sure this requirement is going to apply to all the clubs soon in LV. A scope is a background check that tells the club you have no prior felonies or warrants. My girl said many dancers were fired at Rhino because they couldn't pass the scope. If you're going to work in Vegas, you should get the scope just in case all the clubs start requiring it.

Where to get it: 400 E. Stewart Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89101
    Cost: $8

That's really funny. I'd like to know if they're scope-ing the owners and managers too. What a laugh. Even though I don't have any felonies this really turns me off the idea of working in Vegas. They are losing their minds.

I had to get one in December. What are they looking for when they do the background check? Prostitution was what I thought. Perhaps that is their extra-double insurance against getting in more trouble (The Rhino) when girls are caught soliciting?

This! I work in Toronto and we're required to have a background check and a license to dance. I wish the managers and *BOUNCERS* were required to have the same. Sure would keep a lot of crooks and dealers out of the clubs! I think it's unfair that the dancers are the only ones who require such stringent screening.

Yeah SR told me to go to that location for scope and it was SUPER packed. Make sure you go right when they open. I went at 12pm and it was so packed it took 2 1/2 hours until my number was called. The scope only took about 2 minutes to get done.

you need to request the 3rd page which is a print out of all the clubs you work at otherwise rhino will make you go back for it. if you go an hour before closing time it only takes 2 minutes.

they're looking for anyone with a criminal history, misdemeanor, or felony.

Actually this varies with location. In general, all jurisdictions that require a dancer's license will disqualify girls with felony convictions for ANYTHING on their record. Where misdemeanors are concerned, the types of misdemeanors that will disqualify girls from getting a dancer's license usually must fall into specific categories ... prostitution / lewd conduct / strip club ordinance related, drug related, theft / financial, assault etc.

There is another nasty 'wrinkle' that also varies with location. In the majority of jurisdictions, in order for something on your record to count against you re rejection for a dancer's license, there must have been a conviction or admission of guilt ( i.e. accepting a plea bargain ). However, in SOME jurisdictions, the mere existance of a charge on your record can count against you ( i.e. being swept up in a club bust, being hit with a bogus prostitution charge, later having the charge dropped, but the record of the bust still remains on your record ). Fortunately for Vegas girls, an unsubstantiated charge won't be held against you ( or at least that was the case the last time I danced in Vegas )

I would also add that the 'private' databases now created for use by these 'scope-ing' services actually contain many more linkages than the standard state LE database. In the old days, if you were attempting to get a license in say Atlanta and your home address was listed as Florida, odds are that the record of a misdemeanor charge from say Nevada wouldn't show up during the Atlanta background check because the Georgia cops wouldn't think to expand their search that far. Not the case with these 'scope-ing' services ... odds are that their 'private' database has records from every US state plus a number of foreign countries to boot !

Yeah! And I feel like it's really just a shakedown. They expect you to have a presidential level clearance to STRIP???? So what if you are a criminal. Does that mean you're never supposed to work as an entertainer? Annoying.
On a side note, I often wish they had background checks for hotel employees. Some of these dudes are just shady. There was a show on 20--20 or something about a hotel in Dallas with a maintenance person who was a convicted rapist! Investigate that.

    Hi exoticchar,

What's the third page? Isn't there only one page with a pink copy inthe back? Thanks for your help

Scope now costs $9, cash only and they do not accept bills over $20. I was in and out quickly... about 10 minutes at 2p on Monday.
