Obviously MFC has a lot lower bounce rate - they have free cam shows! Lots and lots and lots and lots of tire kickers and cheapass wankers who never pay a dime. I'd be more interested in a comparison of traffic vs spenders vs sales.

Absolutely! Trouble is, no-one will give you those numbers. And in general, I have to disagree that MFC has a higher number of lookiloo's...I do however think that the lookiloos tend to STAY longer....which then tends toward more of them being AROUND for you to notice...follow? I mean, it's obvious that Stream has a HUGE number of people who come, click around for 3-5 minutes and then leave...maybe as much as AdultWork has TRAFFIC...Where MFC has a much lower amount, but they stay around because the show is better.
This goes back to my MAIN complaint about MFC itself, and that is their HORRIBLE adherence to their own rules...If only tease was allowed we would be rid of a huge percentage of lookiloos, and the ones who MIGHT spend, but don't, because..well, why should they.."public Zucchini fucking!", would probably man up and buy some damn tokens...
Think about this...you get to keep $3 per minute for a normal private with NO voyeurs on MFC....On Stream that is $8.57 per minute....on MFC, if they buy a ton of tokens, its as low as $4.98 per minute customer cost, for you to make $3...at MOST it is $6 for you to make $3...So spending habit comparisons would fall short in some regard anyway...since on average, guys would have to spend 20% more minimum on Stream to equal the expenditure of a customer on MFC...add to this the serious difference in the amount of tipping on MFC, and you are playing two different games...
Its worth noting Alexa stats are pretty unreliable as they measure web usage of alexa toolbar users only which is not really indicative of the internet population as a whole. [/quote
By the way...a good idea to understand:
FROM ALEXA:
Alexa computes traffic rankings by analyzing the Web usage of millions of Alexa Toolbar users and data obtained from other, diverse traffic data sources. The information is sorted, sifted, anonymized, counted, and computed, until, finally, we get the traffic rankings shown in the Alexa service. The process is relatively complex, but if you have a need to know, please read on.
there ya go...

PS. So it isn't "only from alexa toolbar users" but that IS a major source.
I did streamrayI had to see what theirs ways:
Streamray.com's three-month global Alexa traffic rank is 13,237. Visitors to the site view 6.1 unique pages each day on average. Relative to the overall population of internet users, the site appeals more to men; its audience also tends to consist of childless, both high- and low-income people browsing from home and school who are not college graduates. Streamray.com is based in the US, and the site has a relatively good traffic rank in the city of Nässjö (#66).

So...we should come up with our new rating system based on this PLUS the other important stuff...
So...what is the other important stuff as far as you guys think....???
B
PS. By the way...I want this because I'm working on better cam sites for us...right? So I need to know what we're shooting for here...I think I have a great idea of exactly what is needed, but you ladies continually surprise me with your insights...

Agreed that a lot of the spectators surely stay longer on MFC than other camsites, but still, I am utterly convinced that a LOT of their hits and pageviews are spectators because of the free show. Not because a camgirl notices them more, but because it is simple logic - a free show is always going to attract a bigger audience than a paid show. This is clearly why they have so much traffic. Traffic doesn't necessarily = money.
I'm not even debating that they have good earning potential. I'm simply saying I'd be very interested in seeing a traffic vs sales vs model income comparison, rather than a simple traffic comparison![]()

Agreed...the Free does attract a lot of guys. But you must admit, that is incredible marketing strategy in the same way the Carnival Freak show used to be....or the Strong Man show, or whatever....because they would stand out front and show you JUST enough to make you be unable to resist coming inside...
This is what MFC designed for us...and they even made rules to keep it all fair and working, and then allowed ALL of those rules to be broken...and many women are so desperate, or unable to see the way a GREAT setup works, that they are dildo'ing outside the tent for free....sigh....
We are designing the camsite that comes later this year (not the Indy deal) to be JUST that...and not be able to be slammed by rules breakers...we are thinking ahead of the psychology involved in this... MFC got it CLOSE, I think we're gonna be dead-on...

I worked for MFC for about a month...had some issues personally and when I came back I took a friends advice and went to Streamates. I recently went back and compared income and it seems I made a lot more on MFC then I have yet to make on Streamates. I am trying to decide which to stick with. My gut says go back to MFC and dont fall for the "fuck outside the tent" anthem a lot of girls use. Any opinions? I could really use some help....Im right there and want to push it over the edge yet cant seem to get any help on how!
Agreed! sign me up for your site!!

Which one?
Hehehe...we have a lot going on right now....I think reading this thread will be really good for all those who haven't yet....
B
MFC really has something going by giving more of a "social network" feel to their site. It's the reason why Suicide Girls came out on top years ago. An unfulfilled niche that was community-driven--crazy business concept, huh? ^_~ (With that being said I hate SG, but their model worked.)

Someone... revived... a Bambalina thread?
Ohh the humanity!

well she is a newbie she didnt probably didnt know how much trouble those two were both bambalina and camwhore were big fish in this thread and they were both banned before i got here but i know how much trouble they were so i get why its like a vow to keep their threads buried.
I think a lot of people start off on LJ tho I did. I think its a really bad mistake in their marketing guys have to know they make all new models start off at 99 cents at 30% to boot then once its over and their minimum per minute rate gets uped to 1.99 all the guys leave her then run to the next new model to pay a buck a minute on the next fresh fish they can find. And from my experience they favor fake plastic European models. I dont have an icon picture up because you pretty much need perfect lighted pro pix for them to accept them. Every picture i tired to use was either too small or the lighting wasnt 'good enuf' so i just gave up even before i found SW
To LJ this is 'poor lighting' and this was taken in my hotel room i was living in about a year ago with a pro cam by a pro photographer but im using this pik as my icon on SM ....

ha ha thax one of the few good ones he got he never did XXX photos let alone a fat one lol

I work for LJ, its because you have shadows. The lighting has to be cover of a magazine type lighting. Don't get me wrong its a cute pic but the lighting is subpar. They have cam apps that you can use to brighten your pics and more lighting, I know it too late now but should you ever go back
in other words you only accept photos if they perfect and you pay 100s for a pro photo shoot. photos are always going to have some type of shadowing unless theyre done with professional equipment not many girls have on had or can afford when theyre new to web modeling.

Well... My "Sub-Par Lighting" makes me money just fine on SM, so if LJ would rather my paying traffic was directed elsewhere, guess that's on them![]()
xoxoxox

Sorry to disappoint you but im a new web cam model and I take all my own pics at home with my cell phone and the same lamps Ive had for years. The only cost was a trip to the .99 cent store to buy 75watt light blubs (which if you use them stock up because their not making them anymore), which was 4 for 1.07. Its not professional equipment, it didn't cost a lot but my photos have never been denied. Im a bbw on the site at 2.99 a min, my worst day 280 for 8 hrs .So my 1.07 light blubs, that gives the quality of lighting that the site prefers, has worked very well for me. I understand LJ might not be for everyone and not every one cares for what they require but for me, its not a set back.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't see what the problem is with Snowy0Star's pic. That's actually better than what I'd expect from a hotel pic. Usually I'd expect to see all sorts of yellow in the pic. I'm a little surprised that a cam site with a not-so-great reputation - who requires new models to start out dirt cheap - is that strict about a model's photo.
I use a Logitech HD C910 cam and a Room Essentials five bulb lamp from Target (though I'll use just one of the five bulbs, and it still gives off plenty of light).
