I'm not sure how much media coverage this is getting outside Australia, but currently an estimated 75% of Queensland in the north-east has been affected by flooding. Flash floods happen around Queensland from time to time, but this has been the worst in 35 years. It has been declared a national disaster zone, and is set to get worse later this week.
Also, the capital city of Brisbane is currently getting flash floods, and an enormous dam designed to prevent a repeat of the flooding in 1975(?) outside the city is at 160% capacity. It's crazy. Brisbane has a population of about 2 million people, and that's just what's counted in the metropolitan area. I get a horrible feeling we'll be seeing something like what happened in New Orleans. Cross fingers they'll handle anything as sever much better.

It would be amazing if SW members could spare a few tips from their next shift for the emergency relief fund.
