Smiley Going to get a consultation for Smart Lipo tomorrow afternoon

Even when I was in the best shape of my life, i've always had a tummy pooch. my mother and grandmother (her mother) have the same body, so I know it's genetics and not me being lazy. I work out for an hour and a half three times a week, on top of work, and eat pretty healthy. I just got my boobs done and was very happy with the results--they look incredibly natural and made my whole body look better. I guess more proportionate. Now I want to fix my stomach. I have been self conscious about it for as long as I can remember, and even if I wasn't a dancer I would want this procedure done--same way I felt about my boobs.

My body looks a lot like this before picture, and I'm hoping to also have the "after" picture after my procedure:

what do you think about smart lipo? any advice?

and the cost of the procedure with the dr I am getting a consultation with tomorrow is $5,000 but they are having a special this month of $1,500 off... I'm hoping to have enough saved up to get it by the end of the month but my boyfriend and I are thinking about buying a house so I want to make sure I have a really good emergency fund just in case something happens while I am recovering and can't work.

    any advice/opinions are appreciated! thanks

Is this the same as laser-lipo? I think so, and if that is the case, everyone that I know who has had it (3 ppl) has said it was a total waste of money - did barely a thing for them, and all went back on.

I'm not sure how it would work for spot-targeting, but I would go for plain old fashioned lipo!

oooooooooh. yes it is laser lipo im just worried about more pain, bruising, and longer recovery time with regular lipo.

what do you think about regular lipo? what IS the recovery like?

i just dont want to be out for another month like i was with my boobs... :/

I would never do smart lipo on my stomach. Ive seen girls who had little fat in that area and after the area was "done" it turned out lumpy and weird.

I have friends who did this, one did it twice because it was cheaper & less imvasive than traditional lipo. I'd say to do the smart lipo before regular lipo. The first few weeks you will be in pain & it takes 3-6 months for the swelling to go down. Major trick, tie a rope to the end of your bed to help you pull up. When the Dr does the smart lipo the skin disconnects from the fat & muscle, & since sitting up uses the ab muscles... expect it to hurt like hell.

My friend is getting it done in a few days. I believe they laser melts the fat down and then its removed. She seems to think this is the end all be all and she can travel anywere and get hired.. I personally would never get any form of lipo as everyone I knoe has gained it back or in weird places that make them look dispraportionate. They also told her she could go back to work in 3 weeks which I highly doubt as well.

I had traditional lipo - and loved the results. I haven't heard much about laser lipo, but if it's anything like original lipo - then yes, expect it to hurt like hell. Your BF will need to help you sit up, and you're going to be bruised and tender. Scar tissue will develop under your skin and make you lumpy for a while, but massage it well and it should go away (about 95% of mine did - you can't even notice what's left).

Go for it. If your body holds fat in your tummy due to genetics then theres really no way for you to shed it unless you go in manually. Get the body you want. Good luck!

My partner's ex did it and regrets it huge. She noticed little change and was in pain for equally as long as she was for her traditional liposuction (which she did after, frustrated with the SmartLipo).

I doubt it's gonna be 3 weeks off. She couldn't sit herself up for 3 weeks much less get to her office job and function.

My friend just had hers last night. She was in pain last night but today she feels fine. She said she was going to walk around our friends neiborhood ( our friend is taking care of her) he said it says to take brisk walks? She says she can already see a difference when she just changed the dressing? So maybe for her its worth it I will update later if anyones interested.

Spend your money on a personal trainer for a few months. Just because you go to the gym for an hour and a half it doesn't mean that you are doing it right. The trainer should also teach you how to eat well. You are what you eat. (right now I am 1/4 can of Pringles and a bowl of ice cream. ) An added benefit to getting a trainer would be that you won't miss any work.

yeah, i think i will do this :/ just nervous about not losing my belly... another reason why i think it won't go away is because i had cushing's syndrome until i was 15 and had surgery. i had high cortisol levels which causes your body to store all of your fat in your stomach. a normal level is 50, 100 is high, and mine was 1100 so i gained like 60 pounds in 2 months before my surgery--all on my belly. its been hard to get rid of. that's why i think lipo is a good option for me... but idk. just scared of the recovery time, but also scared that working out won't help me....

I know girls who have had the normal lipo and it looks great, but others had said the laser lipo don't work.

If you are prone to putting on weight on your stomach then lipo is the only solution. I've had traditional lipo, water-jet lipo and vaser lipo. (Too many surgeries to count lol). I have known people who had smart lipo but were not pleased with the results. The water-jet lipo left me lumpy and uneven, and it was so painful because it's done under a local. I don't recommend it at all. I have just had my lipo redone by a different surgeon using traditional lipo, it's still healing but looks good so far. The surgery was then finished off using vaser lipo as it tightens the skin. The results of the vaser for skin tightening were really good.
To the OP - traditional lipo is your best bet, and maybe followed by vaser for skin tightening. Make sure you go to someone good, I had 1 botched surgery and the cost to repair it plus the trauma was a nightmare. I have also never known a reputable surgeon who does special offers, maybe I'm wrong though.

ok, this might be a dumb question but i'd rather ask here than ask the smartlipo doctor and have him give me a falsified answer so that i will get the smart lipo...

im 21 right now and plan on having kids in 6-10 years. if i get 50-80% of the fat sucked out of my stomach, when i get pregnant, is this going to increase my chance of getting stretch marks on my stomach as my belly gets bigger from being preggo? since i will have less belly there, it will have to expand (and i assume, stretch) more to fit a growing baby. will getting smart lipo now increase my chances of getting stretch marks on my stomach when i get pregnant in the future?

My mother asked the doctor same question when I got my lipo. PS told me it wouldn't cause stretch marks any more than it would prevent them; so no effect either way. I got traditional lipo.

I've always viewed stretch marks during pregnancy as a mostly genetic thing (at least that's what I observed from the people around me who have had kids).

Thanks to the OP I was really wondering about having lipo on my "pouch" Im in the same boat, both my mom and grandma carry fat there and they are both slim, also after they had kids it was really really bad. I figured I should get rid of it now because it will only get worse I think

I used to work out using a personal trainer and did about 10 sessions. It got me motivated and now I work out by myself and I know exactly what to do in less time and get results. It was definately worth the money. However, if you have a pouch (which I did) lipo is the only thing to get rid of it. My last surgeon did a bad job so I just had a correction with another surgeon. It's best to go to someone recommended if possible, botched lipo is hard to repair.
