She looks just like my mother! When my mother was her age i mean... wow. Except my mums blonde and is of polish back ground.

Nice curls too. I've also thought about getting a perm like this. Not until my hair is healthier though. I need to cut so much of it off from going from red to blonde.

Perms are pretty tricky, you never really know how they'll turn out until you try it. Your best bet is to talk to a hairdresser and have them do a test curl using their largest rollers (based on the pics you posted). Then you can see how it turns out, and decide if it's what you want.

Keep in mind, you'd still have to style your hair, and instead of curling it, you'd need to blow dry it with a diffuser and some styling products to get the results you want.

A perm doesn't mean perfect little ringlets. After a perm, to get the hair in the right picture, you still may have to curl it to get it seperated.

I've never had a perm but have natural curls, and these fuckers can be very high maintenance if you want them to look a certain way. Curls also get tangled VERY easily, and I can't brush my hair when it's dry or else it'll turn into a bushy mop of frizz.

^ yeah my mum has curly red hair so the only problem she has is having to apply serums n that to weigh it down from frizzing....
also i might wait a little till my hair is a bit longer, i dont know if my hair curls up to super short and make me look like ronald mcdonald

What about buying some foam rollers, and putting them in your hair at night after a shower?

I know it's really not permanent, but it gives pretty good ringlets, and you can do it in your sleep. The ringlets last throughout the day too.

The only perm I ever had that looked remotely like the pic was a rope perm spiral rolled. It took two women 6 hrs to wrap it and the ropes weighed so much they had to keep a hand on my head to help hold it up. It did turn out gorgeous though. This was back in the 80's when perms were everywhere, I doubt you could even find anyone who could do a half decent perm these days. With any other perm, you are still going to have to curl it to get the look in the pic.

good idea, havent thought of that.
i use the triple barrel iron and im also sick of heat damaging my hair.

i dont mind if i still have to curl it a bit after as long as i dont start off with dead straight that will later go back to dead straight

Have you tried pincurls at night, or sock buns? They make my hair really curly/wavy with no heat styling required. I usually still have to re-curl a couple pieces by my face, but it takes 90% of the work out of the equation.

^ Like this, but I usually use two buns to get smaller/more ringlet-y curls.

I got a perm a couple years ago and because I let a har school student do it (it was their first perm), my hair was TRASHED and I ended up having to cut it all off BE CAREFUL!

I have naturally curly hair and I think you'll just be making extra work for yourself...I have to actually straighten my hair and THEN curl it to get the loose curls look. Perms I think are more meant to look like you have naturally curly hair not the loose curls that are popular right now. I'm pretty sure the only way to get those is by styling
