Any opinions? I'm thinking about buying one and want to hear opinions, especially versus a Lincoln Navigator.

Pretty sure FBR's driving one.
My dad has one and I drive it whenever possible. It's AWESOME, cannot recommend enough.
is it worth spending more money on versus, say, a Ford Expedition? or a Lincoln Navigator? I can get comparable versions of those vehicles for 7k less.

Instead of an Escalade how about the GMC Yukon Danali?
“Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.”
We had a Lincoln Navigator before the Escalade, and it doesn't come near the Escalade in terms of performance or features- a nice vehicle, but nearly as comfortable or powerful.
And both the Lincoln and the Escalade blow the Expedition out of the water in performance, quality construction, reliability, etc.
Yeah, I know, the Escalade is based on the Denali...but the Escalade has a nicer ride and more....I don't know...it just feels luxurious.
If I go with a standard big SUV, I'll go with an Expedition...I like those. I just wonder if the Escalade is worth the extra 7k or so more...

I have an Escalade and have driven a Navigator on a number of occasions... the Escalade is a luxury SUV, the Navigator is not. They are really on different levels from comfort to precision driving IMO. That's why the Navigator is cheaper. If you have the money to blow, go with the Escalade, it's def. a better car. For the new 2011 models I believe the dif is about 15-20k in price.
As far as luxury SUV's go, the Denali is nice as well, the Porshe Cayenne is in the Navigator/Escalade price range and I hear is very nice, although never driven one. BMW makes a few, never driven any of their SUV's, but if your looking, I'd check into them as well, BMW being the company that it is.
Have to admit, being as young as I am, when I picked up my Escalade I was just as interested in it being a status symbol as I was in having a nice car, which it is... so there's always the coolness factor to live up to lol.
Gas Guzzler. What do you need a suv that big for? They are awkward to drive, hog small side streets, impossible for U-turns, and hard to parallel park.
What's wrong with a Acura RDX, Ford escape, or Volkswagen Tiguan?
Obviously this is a matter of opinion.

I'm debating between a Yukon Denali and the Navigator myself. I like the look of the Navigator more so, but still debating on everything else. I'd just feel like too much of a douche driving an Escalade.![]()

I had a GMC sierra danali and the family i nanny'd for gave me there escalade to drive the kids around in and its the exact same interior. I liked the way GMC has always driven, I thought the escalade was a bit to heavy but thats my opinion. Either way there both good cars..
Own 2 Escalade, 1 GM Silverado 2500 4x4 crew cab, a 2011 ZR1 and a 2006 corvette coupe. I will almost on any day take the Escalade. Best of the ones mentioned....a ford expedition is a joke compared to a Escalade. Traded in a expedition for a Escalade.
See Ya On The Pole!

^ Don't get me wrong, they're both good. But for me the Escalade just feels nicer. Another thing is, driving on patchy roads with the Cayenne can get pretty rough. You get thrown around in your seat to the point where it feels uncomfortable.
But if you live in harsh climates, it rides great on snow. I've driven on ice-covered roads and you barely even feel the difference.
To be fair, the bumpy issue may also be a problem with the Escalade, but I only drove it on major roads and highways so I don't really know.

A little part of my soul died when I read the bolded. I live in Brooklyn where the roads are... less than stellar. I feel like the city purposely puts potholes the size of kiddie pools everywhere so that people drive slower and drive less in general. Now I've got some thinking to do.

I heard the 2011 Escalade has recall on it and those that own it have been advised to completely stop driving it. Pins holding rear axle in place can break causing drivers to lose control.

^^yep

well, get this...the Caddy I was planning to buy was a good deal....2008 with 43k miles on it, great shape, for $30k.
I was on the way to buy it...and when I got there, I walked in, and the owner of the lot says to me..."I have bad news..."
Turns out that 10 minutes before I got there, another car that was parked near it slipped into reverse and rammed into it, putting a big dent in a door and the frame around the door.
So....back to square one.
