Yes, and its awesome! Im about 75% raw right now, and have been for the last couple of years. I find 100% raw is a bit hard because it takes tons of preparation, but some people can do it. Anyways the main reason I kept eating raw, is that the food is sooo yummy also its really helped me maintain my weight and feel really good. Also I've found that after about a week or two I stopped craving sugary junky food, and any time I tried to eat it, it just didn't taste good any more.

I used to date a raw food chef. He was a douche, but the food was sooooooo amazing. For me, eating raw works best in the summer. New York winters are way too cold for only raw. David "Avocado" Wolfe has some interesting books about raw food. I love waking up with a green smoothie. It is so energizing.
I'm making the transition to 80% raw very soon (I'll splurge a bit on the weekends as I cannot imagine life without BBQ). I'm starting with a 21 day juice "fast" transitional thing I found a few days ago... just have to buy a juicer.
As far as recipes, where do you ladies find them? Just google or are there books you can suggest?

I know this post is old but for anyone interesting in the raw lifestyle then definitely do smoothies rather than juicing. Smoothies contain all of the fiber that the fruits and vegetables initially came with, albeit in a blended form.

I've been mostly 100% raw for years & can WELL vouch for it! Now my body DEMANDS it! If I get any dairy (as dirty as my diet gets) in me I will be coughing it up for days. If you want gourmet raw sure its time consuming but at the end of the day if you are comparing it to cooking & preparing meals from scratch then there is no comparison! I eat VERY simply, generally mono eating stuff, listening to my body. I look & feel better than I have done for years & wish I'd found it 30 years ago instead of 5 years ago [thanks CityChick!]
It's not for everyone simply because it affects you deeper than merely dietary; it completely changes the composition of your very core and is a comparatively slow detox which is a notoriously bumpy ride, at which point those who have not done their homework tend to bail out & say that it's "too hard", "takes too long", "doesn't fit with my composition", whatever reason works for them so they don't need to make some serious life changing decisions
Simple facts are it cures Type 1 (supposedly incurable) diabetes & I'm pretty sure cancer but The Hippocrates Institute is better placed to advise on the latter. As with any life style change if done correctly You WILL look better, you WILL feel better and you will have a body that does not necessarily decay as expected on the standard acidic western diet of animal products, cow pus & processed chemicals, washed down with aspartame, prescription drugs & obesity operations
And they say MY lifestyle is extreme!

Kinky-
thanks for posting. i am currently doing a juice fast. i am on day 11 of a 45 day fast.
i have a few questions for you.
i have seen how hot you are. you look way younger that i think you are. do you think this is because you maintain a raw diet or because you have good genes?
also, i am fine with living my life booze free...however, is there anyway around this. i am not wanting to get rip roaring wasted but i would like to have the occasional drink when out with friends. do you ever drink?
thank you for contributing to this thread. it is nice to have an "expert" on the subject. i love what this cleanse is doing for me mentally and would love to maintain a raw diet if at all possible.![]()

I would imagine I look the way I do because of a combination of things, raw food is just one of many optimum living components in my lifestyle of which genetics are but a part. Since we can't do anything about those we may aswell forget about them & start focussing on our priorities.
Rarely I drink but TBH my control where that party lifestyle is concerned is minimal so I just stay away! It's not all or nothing - you have not failed if you're not 100% - just like Hot Bikram Yoga - it's not about the depth - it's about trying the right way
You will find that after 20 or so days on a nice juice feast that the mind is altered & certain psychological issues are naturally addressed
Good for you - keep up the awesome work! x
Kinky do you mind telling us in detail a typical day of yours with food? I have been about 80% raw for about two years now but have noone to swap 'food-diaries' with!

Average day will probably be a handful of bananas, a massive green salad which would probably feed two people and maybe a protein shake, all this is washed down with a litre of coconut water, a litre of green juice, loads of wheatgrass shots, a litre of whole food Vitamin C & a litre of aloe made fresh from the leaf
Ok I so need to be better with my fluids! Thanks for sharing - I actually eat pretty similar but definately need to up the fluids.
