Travel Traveling to Las Vegas to work.

I am not sure if this is the right forum for this, but couldn’t really find one that seemed to fit better. I have a question for the dancers, particularly the ones who live in Southern California and commute regularly to Las Vegas to work. I have lived in Vegas for a few years now, and while I don’t visit the clubs that often I have been with friends a little more than usual lately. I have noticed that when we go a large percentage of the girls are actually live in So Cal. I have talked to a few of them and it seems some drive, it’s a boring 4 hour drive, even longer most of the time with traffic, and some fly. Those that fly said they usually fly last minute so have to pay high rates, even on Southwest booking less than 2 weeks in advance is a minimum $341.40 round trip. I have an aviation company in Las Vegas and we have planes that go back and forth pretty often and a lot of times they are empty either to or from Las Vegas. If you have never flown privately before there are a lot of benefits. By flying privately you can avoid the security line at the airport, no one pats you down and nobody goes through your bags. You can fly out of smaller airports like Corona, El Monte, Montgomery Field (San Diego) which may be closer to home and a lot less crowded. Basically you just show up at the airport, walk to the plane, hand your bags to the attendant who will stow them for you, take a seat and you’re on your way. 45 minutes to an hour later you land in Las Vegas. We could even provide complimentary ground transportation to wherever you’re staying.

So my question is this, how many here make the So Cal to Vegas commute to work? And those that do, how many would fly if they could fly privately round trip at a cost less than booking a last minute Southwest flight if that service was available?

I would appreciate any comments you ladies might have. I just want to see if this is something that might be worth looking into. Thanks.

If it was less expensive than Southwest and you could gain a solid reputation among dancers as a legitimate company and not a potential rapist, then you may be on to something.

the 'kicker' in your potential plan is that adding passengers for the 'deadhead' leg of a charter doesn't provide any schedule control ( or repeatability ) for those passengers. I'm guessing that the high roller paying for the charter wants to go to Vegas on Thursday afternoon and return from Vegas on Sunday afternoon. So will the dancers !

However, I agree entirely that private planes and smaller airports are the ONLY way to fly these days ! And if your plane has enough seats available, you may be able to market your charter services directly to a group of travelling Vegas dancers at a 'ticket' price that is somewhat competitive with commercial. This may particularly be the case if flying out of LA. What's your actual flight cost ... 2 grand round trip ?

We are a legitimate company who has been issued an FAA Part 135 Air Carrier Certificate. While most of our experience in the past has been in the tourism market, i.e. Grand Canyon, we have only recently started doing charter flights. But, I do agree that this would be something we would probably have to receive a good reputation among the dancers since our only real form of advertising would be word of mouth.

While you are correct in that flying deadhead legs doesn’t provide the schedule control or guaranteed return flights, I was thinking more along the lines that if the demand is there, the primary focus of the flights would be to fly the dancers. For that to be the case, we would have to 7 to 9 girls per aircraft to originate the flight. Then we could offer the deadhead leg via a more public marketing initiative. There are a lot of restrictions on Part 135 On Demand operations because we are not a scheduled air carrier, so we can’t look like we have a set schedule for our flights that is available to the public, but the deadhead legs offer a little more wiggle room in advertising to the general public. We would actually be catering to the dancers’ schedules so the flying from LA on Thursday returning Sunday wouldn’t be a problem since this would be the original charter flight and we would try and fill the deadhead legs through other channels. I probably should have been clearer on that in the original post.

When you say actual cost are you referring to what it cost us to operate the aircraft on a roundtrip flight or what we charge for the flight?

Buying tickets at least two weeks in advance will get you a much better price that we could never compete with. My point was to illustrate that if you wait until less than 14 days, using Southwest as an example, its cost competitive. But flying with us could save 2 to 3 hours in just not having to arrive early to wait in line at check-in, going through security, waiting to board, any additional delays and waiting at baggage claim to get your bags, if you checked any. So it’s something people would have to decide if the time saved and the convenience is worth the additional cost for someone like yourself who plans a few weeks in advance.

I am really glad that you would like more information. I was hoping after a few days there would be more than one, while I do realize this site has a lot of people reading the forum who this doesn’t pertain to based on geography, I thought a few more people would be interested. I don’t know if I should post any contact information in this particular forum, since that would be advertising a service and I don’t want to get any trouble with the site administrator on my first couple posts. So what I will do is wait a few more days and see if there are any more people who would like more info and if so I will place a post in the services section and pay the site whatever the fee is to advertise there.

Thank you everyone who replied back to my original post. If anyone has any questions, comments, or feedback I would appreciate hearing it.

Geographically your services aren't applicable for me, however I think you're on to something if you determine a cost effective strategy for clients while maintaining your bottom line. From the conversation, thus far, seems like scheduling shouldn't be an issue.

You come across as professional...wish you well with the venture if you decide to move forward.

I meant your actual break even cost per round trip, inclusive of jet fuel, gate fees, pilot pay, amortization of investment, ship maintenance etc. You also hadn't previously mentioned how many you can seat. I was just fishing for some sort of realistic price ballpark per dancer if it were possible to get together a regular travel group of 7 or 8 dancers.

Yup this can be an extremely valuable attribute for dancers ... both in terms of time and increasingly in terms of hassle factor at the full body scanners ! The last 2 times I flew commercial, I got the 'full monty' because the security dudes claimed that I must have been smuggling something in my bra ... which caused me to miss connections ! Jumping on a gentleman's Falcon 20 or Beech 400 is SO much more enjoyable ... especially when smoking, drinking, and other mile high activities in the cabin aren't restricted LOL !

Well there needs to be a real price tossed out a lot of people will not even think about it unless there is some price tossed out there. We have girls who go out that way a lot, on short notice. Now a lot of times we can book into the show cost travel fees and such and to know how much it may be would be nice. So if you ever get this off the ground and can come up with some real prices I know we could use this. I know that we send a "Driver/Bouncer" so our girls are safe. Now You just going to fill seats with Johny Q. Public? You can PM me, so we can talk more and I can find out a few more things.
