    Tired Ouch! Everything Hurts!!

So I'm just home from my first night dancing. I feel pathetic. I only did two stage sets and 4 lap dances and I am beat!! My feet, (especially) my legs...uhhh...everything hurts! I did pretty well on stage with my two or three moves - lol. I fell a ton though while off stage, like 5 or 6 times. Most of them where no one could see and a few where everyone could see... my ankles would just randomly decide to stop supporting me and down she goes!!! again. Aside from all the falling I'm pretty happy with the night. I made crap money I'm sure...haven't even counted yet but I'm probably $80 richer than when I walked in there. I didn't hustle -like - at all. Next time I'll work more on that. I think tomorrow I'm going to end up in bed all day but after that it's game on again!! Maybe tomorrow...we'll see how I feel.

The only couple of guys I danced for I had a bit of a problem with...probably cause I spent all my time split between the same two guys (bad, i know, but a little comfort on the first night isn't too bad). One wanted to go out with me outside of the club saying he didn't expect to meet anyone he liked or could talk to in a (strip)club and wished he had met me out and about...then the other guy would NOT let up on trying to get my facebook account. I told him no again and again and told him no. then "maybe next time" and still...relentless. annoying - I just didn't know what else I could say. I guess it would have been a good time to be a complete bitch but I just didn't have it in me.

Ugh - so, good night all!! Sorry for the rant - just felt like sharing...any tips on the best way to ease sore muscles? I need a bubble bath but too tired...

Take an ibuprofen before you go to work, it'll stop you getting so sore.
Your body will get used to the dancing though. Pretty soon you won't feel a thing.

Don't feel pathetic! You should be proud of yourself! Stripping is much harder than it looks. Most guys don't even know how long we dance for on each stage set lol! They're so surprised when I say we're up for 15/20 min. Dancing slowly is also just as hard depending on the moves you do as you're holding that position for a longer amount of time.

It's our job to make it all look effortless.
I've had to take 3 weeks off due to injury and man... my body is feeling it. It's like I'm a newbie again haha

    My advice:

I second the notion of taking ibuprofen. Also, make sure you stay hydrated! Drink lots of water through out the day. Even if you aren't sweating lots when you're dancing, you will still be using up lots of fluids. A sports drink like gatorade or powerade is good for hydration/energy too.

Stretch! I've been dancing for a little under 4 years and it's taking it's toll. I've become more aware that I need to really warm up and do stretching before and after. It really does make a world of difference!
If you aren't doing any exercise on your days off, you should. If you work your body hard at work and do nothing on your days off, your will be more prone to injury... and be more tired/sore over all.

Look after yourself! This job requires you to be alert mentally and physically. Listen to your body. When it needs a break, give it one. If you feel like you need to have some 'me' time, a night of sex if your horny or hang out with friends do it! Being naturally happy with show and thus show in your income.

I stretched before but def not after, then I was waking up all night every time I changed position...lol. I'm not someone who usually works out but I'm pretty sure I have a yoga video lurking somewhere - I think I'm going to have to find that as yoga sounds like heaven right now! I'm off to find some IB profin, thanks ladies!!

I remember being pretty sore after my first shift - your body will get used to it, along with the shoes in due time. Try walking around the house in the shoes to get a little bit more accustomed to them. I always take it easy with my dancing as well. I fiend floorwork where I can be semi-sitting or laying down, and most of my lap dance moves involve me seating or leaning against the customer so I don't over-exert myself. I'm a bit of a lazy stripper in that sense, but they key is to make it sensual instead. I find that helps a lot in not feeling so sore the next day, but if you do a lot of dances, it'll still happen every so often!

Sounds like you've learned a lot from your first day (hustle and don't sit with timewasters for too long) so hopefully your next shift is even better!

Do a lot of posing and slow movements onstage! Eventually, you'll learn how to save your energy.

I remember that my first ever shift was totally brutal. Then after my second shift, it was totally fine. You're doing a full-body workout, including LOTS of muscle building, and that always hurts at first. But it very quickly just goes into that sort of tight feeling...after awhile, I just kept getting more and more toned, and I was never sore anymore. Not even my feetsies.

Ugh, I can't wait for my legs to feel normal again! Even that "tight feeling" would be more than welcome. I was hoping to go dance again tonight and still really want to but two days after my first shift I'm still unable to walk down a set of stairs normally (up is much easier though). It's a bit disappointing. I'm going to be doing a lot of stretching today and hopefully I'll limber up enough to go. When I do - I will do much more posing and floor work and a lot less of the squatting while booty-poppin stuff. That's what screwed me, it's one of the only moves I've got!! I've gotta learn some more stuff... lol

Floor work. Seriously, floor work is very easy to do, and it looks really really sexy. Just move slowly and keep your back arched and your toes pointed. You don't have to worry about doing all the over the top moves and everything, or even the crawl (that can fuck up your knees real quick, especially if you do it on tile a lot)...just laying on your back with your back arched, and basic stretching can be supremely sexy. When I started, I made the mistake of trying to learn all these super complicated acrobatic moves for floor work, and it really wasn't necessary. I gradually realized that all the best stage performers were doing the most basic moves.

I was extremely sore after my 3rd day to the point where it hurt to walk up and down stairs. Not to mention my legs were bruised up everywhere! What I did was take 2 days off and made sure to take advil and stretch for 15 minutes in the morning and at night. I was all better in no time and now my body's pretty used to it.

Agreed! I used to get so worked up and sweaty on stage doing all these insane moves...and then I watched some of the sexiest dancers, and they all moved....so....slowly. Not only does it look super sensual and fantastic, it conserves energy so you don't get tired so easily...it'll get easier!

If it makes you feel any better hurting like hell isn't confined to newbs..when I moved to Springfield MO in 2008 I took a 4 month break from dancing. My first day back I was stoked. Until the next day when I was limping around the house, I was covered in bruises and my legs felt like I had just been stretched out on the Spanish Inquisition's vertical rack.

Bubble baths are great for relieving sore muscles : ) When I first started, I would get sooo tired, but you'll learn how to conserve your energy. I also used to fall all the freakin time! Practice is the best solution for that, just walk around in your heels at home until you feel comfortable with them. Eventually you won't even notice they're there.

Your leg muscles are also going to get a lot stronger and more toned. Dancing is an amazing workout... those custies have no idea what they put us through!

Don't feel bad for hurting. We all hurt when we first started. Dancing is a lot tougher a workout than most people think. I was running 6 miles 5-6 mornings a week when I went back to work after over a year off, and my legs still hurt the next day!

I agree with everyone about very slow, sexy moves. Most newbies dance way to fast, and it's just not sexy. Floorwork can also be a nice way to get off your feet, but it's tough on the knees if you crawl much. If your stage is a runway type a slow, slinky walk around while blowing kisses or winking at custies is also an easy move for when you are really wearing out. A nice hot bath when you get home will help with the aches and pains and Arnica is good for bruising (which will probably get worse for a while when you start on more pole/floorwork).

Feeling much better today - don't get me wrong, I'm still limping - but I'm Soooo much better! I appreciate all the tips from you ladies. I think I may even jump on the eliptical for a little while to try and loosen up a bit. I was so tempted to go to my parents house to use their hot tub but couldn't think of a good excuse for all the bruises! It's definitely going to be awesome - in a couple more weeks I'm going to be in such great shape, I'm so excited. I took some before pictures so I can compare my body later and see how much more toned I am

Your knees will get used to it, but I still get the odd bruise if I'm too hard on my knees during floorwork. I second the arnica to deal with that.

^^Yeah, they'll mostly stop. Like shanna though, I always got the odd bruise here and there. But it's pretty easy to explain a small bruise every month or so. The big bruises at the beginning go away pretty quickly, if I remember correctly. When you get better on the pole though, there may be thigh bruises to deal with. (I didn't get these, but a looot of dancers I knew had a pretty bad problem with them.)

Thanks, that's so good to hear!! It might sound silly but constant knee bruises might have been more of a deal breaker for me with dancing than the nudity!!

^^Yeah, and I didn't mention, cause I figured it was obvious, but the thigh bruises also go away. I was actually less bruised as a dancer than I've ever been otherwise. Drank more liquor, which promotes bruising but toughened up till I rarely ever got a bruise. Oh, and one place I worked....it was embarassing, there was an upstairs stage, and I fell up the stairs at least 2-3 times a week and fell down them a few times too....still was muuuch less bruised up than I was as a newbie.
