House fees are high and summers are very slow in Manhattan.

What is wrong with your keyboard?

House fees vary. You will also pay out to house mom, DJ, VIP hosts and hair/makeup artists. It sucks but earning potential is decent, even for the summer, which is why girls still do it.

Your first night is almost always free, so trying it out is the way to go.

There is definatly money to be made in Manhatten. The house fees are high but you usually make enough to cover them and take home a lot still.
Depending on when you come in, they can run 60-150 depending on the club just for house fee. You will also have to tip out managers, dj, housemom, and hair+makeup.
I don't know much about Lace but what I do know is it's right in the middle of timesquare so probably a ton of tourists walking in just to have a look around.. that's what I've heard.

are you a us citizen? cause you should definitely need a work permit if you're not.

it would suck to just move everything over here and realize you're out of a job

True. There is a thread on a girl coming to NY to try to work and she's from out of country. Check out that thread.

i have a green card, just wanted info on what,s happening in ny, are any of u living in manhattan
or should i be looking further out? there doesn,t seem to be a big price difference between
living in the city and out in the boroughs from what i,ve seen on craigslist. any idea,s on which club is the best to work for (nicest people, etc) i worked in stringfellow,s and spearmint rhino in london so i,m not afraid of big clubs but i also like the smaller clubs. i guess the big clubs have the bigger fee,s but u can make bigger money, any advice you can give would be great just want to do right by my kids.

No permit needed, you can work with a green card. My friend works at lace now and she's only been in the states for about two months. Lace is full of tourists who like to look but not pay. Its better during the daytime with businessmen and at night its different class of people. Its harder to get hired on the dayshift than night shift. But once they know you can do well at night too, you can move your schedule up and down. If you don't want deal with dunken idiots who basically spent majority of their door fee and two drink min. Then you might get some tips or few dances. I used love working here, but the weekends drove me insane with working so hard to leave with so little.

If you have kids, dancing in manhattan NOW is the best time to go. Summer is awful!!!! I avoid NY like a plague. The businessmen and the good spenders leave town and bring in idiots. During the summertime the club hires a zillion girls plus they have free entrance fee so anyone can come in. But it rarely promotes them to spend more on the girls. Lace housefees are $110 at bare with everyone tipped out but this was 08, might have gone up by now. Managers are nice but not helpful, housemoms from sweet to plain out bitch, DJ one is cool, the other ones they are okay. If you work wed, DJ Beats plays country and weird love songs.

Living in manhattan is expensive, it will be hard to support your family with the type of money from summetime in NY. Summertime I was banking about $200 to $700. Summertime, they limit dayshifts on how many you can work. But nighttime anyone can work, no limit but you must do four shifts. Living in manhattan can run you $2000 or higher. My studio in manhattan in 08 was $1500 w/out utls. Its bit more expensive in the wintertime but its worth it because you make over a thousand easy a night. I sure miss my NY. I would go back in a heartbeat if life was different. Good luck my dear. I hope this helped.

If you look good no. I am hired at ricks and sarhires but sent several girls younger than me to both and they couldnt get hired. One girl is gorgeous and worked at scored in the hey day and was one of howards favorites, you just never know what they're looking for.

is it true that the new girls can,t work the busy shifts in all the clubs until she proves herself on the quieter shifts? is it possible to make a profit on the quieter shifts and is it possible to work full time in a club or would it be better to work in two clubs?

Ricks is nice but not a fan of constant discounts they give throughout the night. Made me feel like I am on sale. Customers would tell me they rather take me shopping instead (its next to worlds biggest macys) or take me dinner. Loved the stage, but customer wise not my cup of tea.

To try and explain the 'seasonality' in NYC, keep in mind that the majority of the clientele at upscale clubs are stockbrokers, corporate guys, visiting businessemen etc. They get BIG bonuses at the end of the year. This is why upscale NYC earnings are typically much higher in december and january than during any other month.

On the flip side, most of these stockbrokers, corporate guys etc. don't actually live in NYC but in the suburbs. As such, once summertime rolls around, they do not want to hang around in the city after work. This is why upscale NYC earnings are typically low during the summer months.

Once you shift from the upscale clubs to average clubs, the earnings dynamic actually reverses. A fair portion of the customers in these clubs are tourists ... thus there are lots of them in the summer months but far fewer of them when the weather is bad.

NYC club management also follows a 'dancer loyalty' policy to try and retain quality dancers all year long. This means that NYC upscale clubs are very hesitant to hire new dancers during 'peak' earnings months ... in order to give the loyal existing dancers a chance to make up for their poor earnings over the 'slow' months. Thus in reality the best times to get hired in NYC clubs are during spring and fall months.

Yes most NYC clubs are picky about dancer schedules. This is a carry-over from their 'dancer loyalty' policy. Because most NYC clubs try to maintain a relatively stable number of dancers ( instead of allowing additional dancers to walk in and work whenever they feel like it ), it also leaves them vulnerable to not having enough dancers if girls don't show up during scheduled shifts. So yes there are likely to be assigned shifts and assigned days to deal with. However, this has begun to change ... especially at 'new' clubs, where management is apparently more concerned about making money from dancer house fees than from customers !

Lady Amsbition, I've been working at Ricks' since September and I have yet to see any discounts. What are you talking about? You can work as many days as you want but at least 3 days.
WHen I got hired, they didn't give me any restrictions as to nights/days.
I haven't worked the summer here so I can't say anything about that.
We have several older girls...if you're hot, they don't care..

Ricks and Sapphire I both made good money at-but I live in NY now and there are better clubs to work at.

The girl (clears throat) I came with from FL couldn't get hired at Penthouse but I did- so I went back with another friend and made money there too.

You just have to find out what is good for you. All the top NY clubs you can earn decent money.

Oh, and I take offense to who said don't come to NY if you look good- I guarantee the only reason you were hired at those two clubs is who you went with.....

Ricks DOES NOT have 2 for 1 deals, EVER. Just FYI.
Summer, I have never lost money, ever. I have always came out with a good amount AFTER all the fees.
Headturner, what clubs do you think are better to work at? And what do you mean by who you came with? I think I didn't get hired at Penthouse because the girl I auditioned with was visibly too thick to work there so they said no to both of us. Then we went to Rick's and they told us both yes but that SHE needed to tone down in the middle section. So yes, I do think if you feel you don't look good enough don't bother auditioning cause you're most likely going to be told what you already know. They don't play here and they are tactful with how they word things but they will tell you that you what they think and turn you away.
Summer, If you want to smoke, you have to get out of stripper gear and into street clothes and go outside to smoke. What kind of drinks do you mean?

** sorry for the confusion not dances but bottles and it was not in NY but ricks of minneapolis. I did leave half way through summer to travel and worked at ricks. I did work at NY for half but it wasn't anything I liked about it compared to what I used to bring home from winter and fall months.

New York has many clubs and if you do good during the summer, better for you. Not everyones opinions the same. Its just my opinion on how NY summers not for me.
