    Default Be in a Documentary!

    Hey all,

I am a film student who will be graduating soon. I have decided to make a documentary on something that is very close to my heart and something I have firsthand experience in, which is stripping. I have seen other strip documentaries and I don't think they capture the true life and times of exotic dancers in this country. I want to show how beautiful and strong we are, our individual struggles, humor, and backgrounds.

I'm looking for women of any age, race, etc. I am very passionate about this so I want a wide range of girls from different places - South, NYC, Florida, middle America, Seattle, ANYWHERE! Some films have just focused on white girls or black girls but I want it all. I have so much respect for hustlers everywhere and I want the audience too, as well.

You must be willing to be filmed for a couple days or so. I can adhere to your comfort level. If you don't want to be filmed at work, or discuss certain things, I will NOT cross that line. You don't have to reveal anything but obviously the more open you are, the better. Right now I am in the very beginning stages so I'm just starting the process of deciding exactly how I'm going to orchestrate all of this.

If you're interested, please PM me and include what city you work in, your age, race, other little facts that would help me compose a list. Also include when you'd be free to take a few days to do filming, it'd only be a couple hours a day or so but I don't want to catch you at a time where I'd be disturbing your life! I think together we can make this very memorable. I'd be submitting this to film festivals and it has the potential to be famous, so if you don't want to be seen nationally and possibly internationally, that is understandable, but let me know!

Thanks girls and I look forward to hearing from you.

When are you planning to film this or when is the deadline? I have much support to what you are doing to increase -positive- perspective of the industry.

There is no deadline per se. I am in school right now so I am busy most days of the week myself. I am looking to start it over the weekends now or on the days I do not have class. But mostly I will devote this summer to the project. I want it to be done very well, edited perfectly, and composed professionally. If it takes me a year to complete, so be it! I'd rather take a long time and come out with a classy film that represents all the girls completely than rush through it and leave people feeling as though there is more that could've been said. I of course will be traveling, so that adds time to the schedule.

I watched a Method Man doc on this and he mostly had no game plan. Just went into clubs and hoped to find girls. Also, a lot of it focused on the girls dancing on stage which to me is the more artificial aspect. I want to hear everyone's goals, motivations, issues, etc! That's what America DOES NOT see when they step inside the club!

Do you want only girls still dancing or are us retired girls good too?

I actually am thinking of doing a separate documentary that showcases retired strippers. It'd be an interesting addition to the views of the current industry. But that'd be a whole different film! I'm open to it though and if this endeavor is successful, I will definitely move on to the other ideas I've had.

^I've seen that one! Hahahaha, it was on hulu.com!

Good luck with your documentary, I'd love to share but I'd like to know more about the project. Keep us updated!
