My partner unfortunately shattered 1/3 of his wisdom tooth off by, of all things, chewing on a piece of food from a bakery we were eating at. He felt a crack and
then was picking at his teeth thinking he'd gotten a seed stuck back there and then
felt a bunch of grainy material give way which he swallowed (obviously the tooth fragment was part of that.)
Now, since he swallowed it, I wasn't about to suggest we bring it up with management since we couldn't prove it had happened right then and there and he hates attention---especially if management would think we were one of those fake litigious people scamming businesses. So this post isn't about that.
Luckily it's his wisdom tooth which he wants out anyway, but his root is exposed. He's oil pulling and swishing with hydrogen peroxide so I assume his root is going to slowly become desensitized. I just hope that he'll be able to keep it from decaying. He has military insurance from the VA but they don't do dental.
My questions are as follows:
1. Has anyone had this happen and you weren't able to get to a dentist for awhile? How did you manage?
2. Any product recommendations to help seal the root for a little while?
3. Is there a way to get a tooth extraction covered under medical insurance rather than dental insurance?
4. How much did it cost (if you paid cash for an extraction) to extract your tooth/teeth? I think he and I are expecting to pay somewhere around $600 for one tooth extraction but I have to call around and see.
