    Default Drunk Food - Help!!

My downfall is drinking and the munchies I get after it. After looking more at my diet and how I recently haven't been happy with it, I realize it's because I drink a lot and eat a lot after drinking. I eat about 1000 extra cals (min) after drinking, which quickly adds up. How do I stop this? What types of drunk food do you eat to satisfy you? I like greasy/fried food, but it's caused a 1o lb. weight gain in just a few months, which I couldn't afford already. To be blunt, after each time I drink, I basically binge eat, and I hate it. I sometimes eat so much that my stomach hurts the day after, and I'm definitely bloated for the next couple of days. It's so bad that one friend even asked if I was pregnant. I just want to stop the cycle.

Been there, done that. Sometimes it's like you just NEED to sit there, spoon in hand, and eat SOMETHING, ANYTHING, till you ache. My secret weapon: HUGE bowl (like... a SALAD BOWL) full of coleslaw, or some similar salad made of finely chopped veggies, and stuff. You can even drown it in a vinaigrette, add grilled chicken chunks, etc. I basically satisfy myself by gorging to the max, but making sure it's HEALTHY shit.

If you NEED the fried/greasy shit, I can't hep you. That's just bad news, no matter how you slice it.

Try to consume some vitamin B (banana) and C after drinking. Vitamin B is lost heavily from urination.
Vitamin C will act as an antioxidant to help aid the liver in flushing out toxins.

I read somewhere that a few teaspoons of lemon juice along with a teaspoon of sugar in water is useful in stabilizing blood glucose levels in the body.

    Orange juice.
Milk is also great, it gives you nutrients and re hydrates. You could make a banana and honey milk shake. MMmm damn I want one now.
Soup is good too, as it has lots of fluids, salt and (if it's not from a can) nutrients. You could eat a wholegrain roll with it to help fill you up!
Try to have a light meal. Lean meat, veggies and salad.

Its kinda like smoking and getting the muchies. You aren't really hungry, its psychosomatic. What I used to do to curb that was go and brush my teeth. A dietician told me when I was going thru large weight loss like dropping 30+ pounds that I was a binge eater. She also said that sometimes the leftover taste of food in your mouth after your last meal is sometimes what triggers your hunger. I rolled my eyes at the time. But I think it was true. Also food is a comfort so that may potentially be an issue. Try brushing your teeth when you get the urge to eat so much that you eat until you are almost physically ill(stomach pain). Think about how long it has been since you last ate and figure if you are genuinely hungry or just eating for comfort to assuage your feeling about being intoxicated. Hope it helps.
Thank Goodness I smartened up! The old me is dead and gone.

I know that feeling! Then the next day hangover when you don't want to leave the house so you order Dominos. Terrible, terrible cycle ahahah!

When I have the good sense to plan ahead, my healthy drunkie snack is Baked Lays and salsa. The hottness of the salsa makes you drink a ton of water, which has a double benefit of filling you up, and hydrating you against a morning hangover.

Ok my all time favorite drunkie food:

Fresh hot dog with cream cheese, ketchup, and mustard from the Seattle area nightlife street vendors. Omnomnomnom!

Not a very healthy suggestion, I guess, but totally satisfying!!

I used to have this problem too after i turned 21, i stopped drinking for a while and lost it pretty quick, its tough lol everything is just better when you are drunk/high, especially when you are drunk and high at the same time! What you need to do is drink a lot of water and munch on veggies and fruits, i'll have a banana, maybe some apples, carrots, strawberries..celery etc.. whatever you like, staying away from greasy foods and things high in sodium will you help you a lot! It can be tough but if you really want to stop, you will.
Also realize that alcohol has calories in it as well, and if you do binge eat once it a while thats totally fine and if you excercise and stay active you will feel better about it and keep the weight off

I find carrot or other crunchy veg batons and hummus a healthier drunk snack - full of flavour, vitamins and the fact it requires lots of crunchy chewing means that it feels as though you're eating more than you really are thus helping satisfy your craving.

Oh my god you are making me hungry. I used to always get these on the way home from the bar in Seattle. Cream cheese hot dogs are soooo good

Like what spartaca said, I too find that babaghanoush and hummus dips make excellent substitutes for ranch dressing or those other fattening potato chip dips. I dip carrots and multi-grain chips in the babaghanoush and it certainly takes care of my munchies : ) If you have a health food store such as Whole Foods or Sunflower Market in your location be sure to check it out.

Yeah if it's fast food, then that's a problem. Otherwise just stock your fridge and cabinets with only healthy food, so that you can't do much damage when the munchies hit you. I like the idea of making healthier versions of common foods you crave. I like pizza, so sometimes I'll take a whole wheat english muffin and put some pizza sauce, cheese, and veggies on top and pop it in the toaster oven. It's actually pretty satisfying!

I am the same way!! When I get drunk there is NO substituion for the junk I want...I've tried eating veggies or some soup but nope. I wait like 10 minutes and the hunger for the junk food is still there and it just is what it is. When I drink, my inhibitions about diet are gone. I'm currently in the process of losing the last 10-15 lbs to go back to dancing. It was taking me FOREVER to lose this shit, but once I stopped smoking weed and drinking I lost the first 15 lbs like *snap* THAT.

I never really smoked weed THAT often, but I noticed every single time within the first inhale I was hungry! lol...I accepted the fact that that is just the way my body is and had to quit. Now with drinking, you have to imagine not only with every drink you are ingesting 60-200 cals (depending on the beverage), when you get drunk you are eating junk food without a care in the world. So, I had to quit that too. Then if I am hungover the nextday forget about it...more junk food and my ass will not go to the gym.

Unfortuanatly, the BEST way to do it...stop drinking. You will lose weight, your skin will look better and you will just feel better.

I am still in the process of quitting completly! I will go a week, then have a few beers but stop myself on the third one...like "Shit! Whatre you doing?" It is just hard because even when you are not out getting "wasted", drinking is a very social thing. It's hard not to have ONE drink while out with friends, even just after work or like, for dinner. But the cals add up fast.

Well, I got off topic here but yeah in conclusion...you wanna shed weight FAST then no booze...or weed...unfortunatly lol.
