She can't hear the tv from her room, so it's not like that's why she was pissed, she was just ticked off that I was still up. I was like... I'm 21, it's 10:30 on a Friday night, and I'm at home, in my pjs, watching Criminal Minds... you should be happy you have a daughter like me!! lol
Girrrrrrrrrrrrrrl. Wow. If you're paying rent, then you legally have the right to your space. If you weren't, I guess I could see them justifying the "no door" etc as you being a guest in their house/their rules. You pay rent, you're not a guest, you're a tenant!
I really, really support being grateful to parents and I can't imagine having a big income and not sharing some of it with my family, but there's a point when someone is just milking you, and that is not okay.

Like others said... get a good excuse for the time being, and in the meantime look for your own place, even if it means it won't be perfect right now. Remember you can always move after a while.

As for 10.30 being bedtime...I'm speechless. I'm between laughing and disbelief. I feel your pain, dear.

Someone mentioned this, but I tell relatives that I do online ESL via webcam because I used to teach ESL anyway. I pretend like the pay is crappy though because otherwise it'll sound too good to be true and I just don't want to get caught lying. People might assume I'm getting by on my looks to a degree with this but that's fine. Thanks to Shelly for posting about reviewstream...I might say that I write reviews occasionally because that sounds like something I'd do. Does it really pay money though? Because I know people write reviews on Amazon and whatnot for free all the time.

Yes it really does pay, but it's definitely not a lot!

Holy hell. I wouldn't do that to a 12 year old, let alone an adult who was paying me rent! I've always given my children privacy.

I'm always shocked at the lack of respect people have for their children. I hope you can find a place that takes pets soon. Living with them sounds like hell!

Respecting your elders and your parents is one thing, but I hate how people use that as an excuse to treat younger people like shit. That is NOT right. The ONLY time MissEgo's parents should barge into her room is when there's an emergency and she's screaming for help.

Things like having a private phone conversation with a guy, etc. should be done without having to worry about family barging in or pounding on your door like they're insane.

^ I can't even talk on the phone in my room. My mom will seriously stand in the hallway. Or suddenly need to be doing something in the next room. I went on cam from home TWICE in January. She's being a cock block! lol well, in a way.

The problem with finding a fake job is that if it's done from home, she'll probably want to do it. She spends all day sitting on the couch watching CSI and bossing me around.

I've moved out twice and both times they've begged me to come back because they were poor, and I *stupidly* moved back in to help them pay bills and everything.

^ If you want to help them into paying the bills... Tell her you need your privacy and you need to respected when you are working and doing your own thing (talking on the phone and such). If she cannot respect that, move out.

If my kid wanted to pay rent in my own house, I'd give them all the privacy they need, as long as they were doing something with their lives and respected my boundaries as well. Its one thing to respect your elders, but your mother is just using them to her bored, or issues, you need to talk to her if you want to live there.

omgg i feel you miss ego lol! my mom is the same way. she comes home from work and gives me the "what are you doing with your life speech" and when I do want to go out with my friends all she does is complain. I decided not to attend class this semester too and just been camming. Trying to save and get the hell out of NY so I can pursue my dreams in Cali. No one understands and living at home makes camming harder because when my mom stays home it's like f***! I sit around the house waiting for her to go to sleep because she loves yelling my name or barging into my room without knocking. SMH! I'm just fed up and ready to move. so yea i feel your pain...we're in the same boat.

my only problem is making enough when i move out so i don't have to move back in. it's just scary moving across country, alone and depending on camming as income.

It's like catch 22 for me right now... If I had my own place, I could cam all the time and make lots of money... but until I have lots of money, I can't get my own place!

    I totally understand Caramel!!

I am sorry Caramel and Ego! Just let your mothers be your motivation to make as much money as possible, so you can get the hell out! Good luck, ladies!!! You two can definitely do it! *HUGS*

We should create a site where cam girls interested in sharing an apartment with other cam girls could find each other.

Just like others have said save up some money and get the hell out of there. I still live at home but my mom isn't like that. I seriously don't know what I would do if I had to put up with your parents. As far as them trying to guilt up into coming back home.. if your making lots of $$$ I'd seriously send them a couple of dollars a month just so that they can't say were poor please come home. They won't be able to use that as an excuse because they'll have a little extra money from you.

    That is an awesome idea.

I would hope it would guilt them into backing off too (but considering the nerve of them to have that sort of behavior toward you not sure).

I would be mortified to take money from my children if they weren't living with me and sharing expenses, unless something prevented me from being able to work at all, and even then it would make me feel bad.

Good news!! The bf and I found an apartment... it's cheap (as in, below what he decided our budget is), in an okay area, and has most of the "extras" we wanted (like laundry and things like that). It's not available for viewing until the 15th, but it's a start!!

There is no way you're going to realistically be able to work in that environment, plus you say they keep expecting you to pay more and more money - that is going to get much worse now that you're not in school. You might as well bite the bullet and find your own place.

I'm sure if you really look you can afford something that will accept your dog. Private owners are often more lenient on that. Even a roommate situation would be better than having no privacy and trying to cam in your parents' house while they demand more and more money from you and harass you to "get a job".

You may not afford a place as nice as your parents' home, but isn't your privacy and ability to actually work without harassment worth a little sacrifice?

^shoot, at that point, I'd move into a weekly motel which is expensive over time but cheap when it means you can work more and you don't have to come up with a security deposit as well, and then work work work and then move. Also, if you move into a place owned by a person rather than a company, oftentimes you can explain what's up with having to move out asap, and asking if you can split the deposit over 2-4 months. So instead of having to come up with, say $2400 for hat $1200 apartment, you could come up with $1200+400=$1600 which divided between you and your boyfriend would be $800 each upfront. Not bad. That particular place you mentioned is probably corporate but it's always worth asking.

    YAY!!! Congratulations!!!

It will be nice having your own place, and how much do you wanna bet after you move your parents are gonna be all "We miss you...we want you to come home." LMAO. My parents did that shit, and then when I did come home, every argument with them included "You're livin under OUR roof...we're callin the shots!" *rolls eyes*

Yeah, you need your own place, so I'm very happy for you!

I really, really agree with this. If your income can handle it, you should give your parents some money to help them out if they're broke. That way you'll be helpful and nice to them and at the same time eliminate the guilt tripping of them not being able to handle it without you living back home, and you'll most likely make more money, too, since you will be able to cam more.

Her and dad smoke and drink though; imo, if you're strapped for cash, you should drop one of your vices, you know? Easier said than done, I'm sure, but still. They keep buying new shit. Like their new Pathfinder. Or new tables for the living room. Or fancy patio doors. If they need money, at this point it's kind of their own fault.

Also, she just told me I should work in a prison in a different city (I'm just over 100lbs, no thank you!) because it pays $20/hr. I asked her if she expected me to walk there every day. She said she would quit her job and drive me to and from work, and I could split the pay with her. Umm... no.
