Maybe if you just start doing a bad job up there, he won't want you to do it as often.
I don't think it's a dumb thing to ask, especially if it's causing you so much stress.
Is your manager a dick? It sounds like he is, but I don't want to assume based on just that one post.
Either way, it doesn't hurt to ask. Maybe he doesn't realize how badly it stresses you out and thinks he's doing you a favor.

The best thing i have heard in a strip club to date:
customer: we should get married right now! we should get a shotgun marriage!
me: uhh... i think you are misunderstanding what a shotgun marriage means. A shotgun marriage means you knock me up and my daddy shows up at your door with a gun and forces you to marry me and raise the baby. You mean elope.
customer: hmm... nah actually i will take the shotgun marriage. At least then we would be having sex.

Is the manager the dj too? I think if there is a dj can't you just slip him a twenty to forgot your on the stage rotation?
force you out of vip to go on stage? that's just uncalled for.
I HATE HATE HATE stage, so I feel ya Teaze.
why do i HATE stage so much?
I don't get a lot of tips, makes me feel pathetic
It takes up too much time
I don't do tricks, I can barely balance on my shoes
I just walk back and forth, the guys probably think I'm stuck up or something.
but i can give a hell of a lap dance, when i'm walking on the carpet not freaking tiles or wood!
The reason why he might put you on stage is probably because you are pretty and will give the club a good image. or he's trying to send you a message? idk
you might want to ask the girls or house mom for advice. some dj wants you to kiss their ass and give them money at the same time. I'm sure there's a way. usually i just sell a bottle or tip the DJ 40-60.
I don't stress over stage as much anymore and try to be as positive about it as possible even though it's really hard sometimes.
last week, only 3 people came up to tip me and one of them gave me 100. that gave me a whole new perspective on thing, stage is a good way to tell customers who wouldn't otherwise know that you are there. or I sometime I would pretend it's a yoga or stretching exercise.
but I still HATE stage!=)

When I worked a club like that I used to just tip the DJ to put me up once early in my shift then forget me the rest of the night. He was happy to do it for the extra cash and he would just re-write the rotation now and then (they had to do that anyway to skip the girls in VIP) so it looked like I'd be coming up in an hour or so in case the manager went to check the list. When one of the managers finally caught on I just slipped him an extra $20 to keep his trap shut. Fortunately I didn't work with particular manager much and when I did I just tipped him a lil extra on the side.
I was always nice and professional but also always had a take-no-shit attitude and that combined with a few well-placed tips generally got me what I wanted.
It's fair that he decides this because he is the manager and that is part of his job - to run the club the way the owners want. Obviously you're hot and that's why he wants you on stage - you make the club look good and you make the club money. To be honest you do sound a little princess-y but ehh, that will make you moneyhaha!
You really must have a thick skin in this business and to be very frank, you have to deal with doing the basic parts of the job like going on stage. This job isn't for everyone and I mean this in the most sincerely positive way, but if going on stage is that stressful for you, maybe it isn't a good career choice. I hated going on stage for the most part because it was a waste of my time and cost me money, not because it stressed me out. I found a way to work around it most of the time but if I *had* to go on, I worked it no sweat.
It sounds like you do very well aside from the stage thing, so I think you should find a way to manage it and keep making the money for as long as you can handle itOne thing I've always done is a) look at every customer as a wallet instead of a person (literally like dollar signs for heads) and b) walk out there with the belief I'm the hottest bitch in the building. This does wonders for the attitude and sales.

tessarubyxoxo: somehow i ended up on SW's homepage.... then i clicked on "forums." & i was in fucking narnia.

Those girls are probably tipping someone to not go on stage.

Well, I guess I'm the oposite 'cause I love the stage!!!!

Some clubs allow you to tip a little extra to avoid the stage. Here where I work if you pay an additional $20 on top of your house fee you can avoid stage call.
Every girl is a princess =)
So have things gotten better for you Teaze? it's always good to befriend the djs and other staffs, they're much more willing to be flexible with you once they got to know you a little better.
"It's on the same level as being picked last in dodgeball...except we're flashing people hahahahaha." lol, I agree!
My club is actually busy all the time, I think it's b/c I cant do the bad ass "booty hump",lol, that's y I don't get as much traffic when I'm on stage. I literally walk back and forth and do my lame wiggling routine. oh well I can only do my best.
I think side stages are less intimidating b/c you don't feel like everyone is looking at you, the majority of their attention is on the girl that's currently on the main stage =).
btw, thank you for the welcome, I'm glad to be a part of this community. nice to meet ya Teaze! keep me updated.
