Default Pole Work and "Golfer's Elbow"

I started dancing around 6 months ago and I have a pole in my apartment. I used to practice a lot and I could really feel myself getting stronger. I loved doing it, but a couple months ago I started experiencing pain in my elbow, forearm, and wrist. My grip and overall strength in that arm became very weak.

I did some research online and I'm pretty sure the problem was golfer's elbow (like tennis elbow but on the inside instead of the outside of the elbow).
I stopped doing pole work to give my elbow a chance to heal, and it's FINALLY to the point where it isn't hurting me anymore. I tried doing a couple of easy spins with it and still didn't have any pain, so I'd like to get ease back into using the pole.

I don't want to over-do it and injure myself again, especially since I've gotten pretty weak from not working out for the past couple months.

I know I could just jump back in to using my pole everyday, and I'd get my strength back, but seeing as how that's how I hurt myself in the first place I'm thinking I'd better build up some strength first.

Has anyone else had this problem before? Any recommendations of exercises I can do to help strengthen my forearms that won't be too much or re-injure me? Or any good stretches for this? I've read stretching can really help, but have had a hard time finding actual examples of stretches to do.

    Thanks!

Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation. Rest it for 48 hours.

Call a deep tissue massage therapist and explain the problem, or someone involved in kinesology, they can help you

im sure you could try an elbow brace while you're practicing. it might get in the way a little but it would be worth a shot. i'm about to purchase a pole for my apartment as well, i might try it out myself.

Veena posted a video on YouTube with strength training exercises for the forearms. (She has another video for improving shoulder stability too.) Maybe give those a shot.

Would it be worthwhile going to an advanced pole teacher and paying for a session so that she can tell you if you are doing any of your holds in a way that could be damaging you?

Other than that - braces, good warm ups, massages and good nutrition are a must..though sadly, like any really physical job, we all end up with issues with our bodies. With dancing and tattooing, I know that my body is going to be pretty damaged in twenty years!!
