I know of kayak.com, there's sometimes good deals there. But if anyone knows of anything better, I'd love to hear it, too!

    Try Travelzoo.com and sidestep.com.

Once you find that "cheap ticket" always check that airlines website. Alot of times its the same price but with the airline you have the option to change your flight with no charge.
Got caught with this a month ago and wished I had booked through the airline I had flown with. Turns out it was the same price..... But I couldn't change my plans at all... Unless I bought another ticket..... Check the sitesa for the cheapest then check the airline that has the cheapest and book through them. Most of the time its the same price as the discount site....

I use travelocity.com and kayak.com. hotwire.com is best for cars. I really like farecast.com because they tell you if the price is going up or down so you know when you should buy.

I go for Expedia or Travelocity. They can include hotel and car if you need it.

I would use priceline.com. Unlike hotwire, you CAN see your flights and hotels. I used to use all the competitor sites listed but once I tried making a trip from east coast to west coast and looked up Priceline, I saved $100 and realized its way cheaper than the other sites.

    Nope.

    This one: http://matrix.itasoftware.com/

It's a flight matrix site... which means it is DESIGNED to find the cheapest flight available anywhere, on ANY site, for your selected criteria.

I DARE you to find a better cheap-flight-searching site. ;-) There isn't one.

This site won't SELL you the plane ticket, btw.... it's just a matrix search engine. You go to the actual airline site to book the tix.

    HAPPY FLYING!

PS. Forgot to add: this site shows the price as a TOTAL... INCLUDING ALL TAXES. The price you see on the flight matrix site is the total price you will pay. You might check Expedia or one of the others and it SEEMS like you've found the same flight for less... Well, you haven't. The flight matrix site takes all taxes into account automatically, and is the cheapest EVERY TIME. (When putting in your search criteria, leave the "sales city" field as is - Mine says Boston. It doesn't mean anything.)

I just spent the past 2 weeks looking for flights for my wife to go visit the Philippines. I ended up using Orbitz.com. They had the lowest price and the least amount of layover times. I tried the matrix site, but even they were over $200 more than the flight I booked on Orbitz.
This is my 3rd time using Orbitz. I booked my flight with them when I went to the Philippines to visit her, and used them to book a ticket for her from LA to here. Each time, they were the least expensive.
