    Default First Night Shift

I'm going in for my first night shift this Thursday (starting at 3 and although I can leave by 8, I'm hoping to stay til at least 10 or so, depending on how things go). I've been dancing for a few months now but have only stuck with day shifts or early weekend shifts just because they tend to work better with my class/other work schedule and I've been pretty satisfied with how much money I make on them. Plus, I like when there aren't many girls on the floor, and nights will likely be more packed. For some reason, I'm also just a little intimidated by the late shift, not entirely sure why. But once summer hits I'll only really be able to work late shifts, so I want to get used to them, and it's about time I tried something new, especially if it could result in more monies.

So, any tips? Any aspects that will be super different that I should be prepared for? I know it varies by club and area, but even general advice would be much appreciated. I'm expecting less super loyal regulars (weekday day shifts don't seem to be too lucrative at this club without them, and it's not possible for me to work regularly enough to cultivate them) which is nice, more drunks (I've only ever dealt with one, and I wasn't too fond of him) which isn't so nice, and more of a younger crowd (which I find tends to like me, so that could be good) but otherwise, is there much of a difference?

It's a faster hustle, especially as the night moves on. As people get drunker, you'll spend less time chatting them up before moving in for the kill.

^I like the sound of that. I have a hard time sitting around with customers and just chatting for a long while (as most seem to expect/is the norm during the day) before closing. I like to stick with 2-3 songs, tops.

In the night shift there tend to be more large groups, and groups that just want to hang out and socialize with each other. It's also when the female customers and couples start showing up.

At night I ask for a dance a lot sooner and try not to waste too much time so I can get to everyone. It's more fast paced. I tend to make a lot more money at night, although not many regulars come in at that time, so it can be annoying trying to hustle random party animal types.

Dunno how shifts work at your club, but I always try to get the best of both worlds on the weekend, and come in around 4 and stay until midnight when the club is busiest. That way you get some of the daytime regulars and still get the big crowd cash-flow at night. Long hours, but you can always take a break.

Next time I'm definitely going to go in at 4. It's at the point that you can stay as late as you want (otherwise you have to leave at 7) without having to pay the DJ and floor fee twice too. Last night I got lucky and the manager let me stay late without paying again (considering I got there at 3, it'd only be a 4 hour shift by 7) but I ended up leaving by 8:30 because of how quiet the club had been for the past 2 or so hours.

I find that once I've been there for 5 hours, have made enough money that I'm happy with, and there's no one to talk to, I tend to just leave. A couple of times I've forced myself to stay for an extra hour or two and found it wasn't worthwhile, so I'm just not willing to do it anymore. I think starting at 4 or 5, so I'm at least forced to stay til around 10, should help, especially if it picks up by then since it'll motivate me to stay later. I'm totally fine with long hours and bring lots of snacks and can take breaks (especially when quiet), but it's just that dead club syndrome I get where I just don't want to stay if I've been sitting around for a while and there are no new prospects when I can already leave. Bad stripper lol

If you can hustle and make money during the day, you will kill it at night! I find the later croud to be more fun to work with since there are some young guys and guys that want to go to the VIP to get wasted with you. I never "get wasted" at work, but you will find yourself having to get rid of an excess of drinks that custies have bought for you. Either abandon them in the LD rooms or dump them out.
