Default I have a Twitter Fake

Have any of you encountered fake Twitter accounts of you?

I just found one of me...kinda flattered and kinda annoyed. How did you deal w/ it and how did you feel about it?

This person just won't quit. I'm trying my hardest to get Twitter to delete them because their impersonation is totally against Twitter's TOS. It's not a "fan" account and it's not a parody account either, but they're speaking in 1st person as if they're me and posting a link to RABBITSCAMS.COM - a whitelabel of Streamate.

I noticed at the end of the link that there was an affiliate program number and Streamate hasn't answered in regards to that discovery. I asked them if they can take a look through their shit to help me find whoever it is that's faking me.

I also Googled the code to see if it was attached to any other links and there were a few other girl Twitter accounts that had the same link, making me think that this same person made those accounts as well. They all link to RabbitsCams.com so it's possible that someone affiliated with that site is responsible.

This person has apparently been watching me tweet for a while and is trying to write like me, but his syntax is way off. He even sends out auto-DMs with the stupid affiliate link. Because of this, I will not cam on Streamate (as if I needed another reason) until this account is deleted to not give him the satisfaction of saying "I'll be on cam at 11pm tonight!" or some shit like that.

Twitter isn't exactly helping the situation. I reached out to a handful of their employees already and they keep passing the buck, saying that all tickets will be answered in the order they were received. Who knows when they'll work on it.

The motherfucker squatted on MY name...Fuck, should've known to also register just my name, without the XXX.

ALWAYS register EVERYTHING with your name and any variations of your name. You never know when some asshole with big sweaty balls and a red dick will pretend he's you on the internet.

PS - NEVER CALL STREAMATE CUSTOMER SUPPORT. THEY ARE THE RUDEST BUNCH OF ASSHOLES.

Wow, WTF?? Like, seriously who has that much free time to impersonate someone they've never even met before? lol people are crazy. But, maybe on the bright side its giving you more exposure and can increase your number of potential customers? That's still totally effed up though.

I thought about that side of it, but if it has an affiliate link attached to it, they are using my likeness to make money from Streamate. I am NOT down with that.

I would just laugh it off and post the link to them and keep up with it. All your fans will know its not you and will block that twitter so to speak. Make them your little pet by saying how cute they are trying to mimic you but your the only one that can put on the real show. Either they will keep trying or people will baby talk your little mini me. Just remember to tell people not to link with them.. it will hurt your feelings or something like that..

hmm.. sorry to hear that i would just tweet a few times saying that you have no association with it and basically tell people it's a scammer and to ignore it (until you get it cleared up).. but i definately would take action- somebody's gotta do something i hope!!

I did that at first, thinking they would just back down and delete the profile. They didn't. Instead, they wrote some more tweets and linked that affiliate bullshit again. I asked my followers to report the account and a lot of them did, but I think I'll have to put in more requests for more followers to do that. Twitter is also being a pain in the ass because they're not even trying to help.

Catgirl, thank you so much for understanding. I'm trying my best to keep this person from getting any more followers than they already do, which isn't much, but still. They even cut my website out of the photo they're using, so I know they're not interested in promoting ME, just their fucking affiliate link.

Wow, sounds like you have one heck of a problem. I had a similar problem once with an affilate, but it wasnt twitter related. Def keep on twitter to have it removed but I dont think that will solve it. If the affiliate took a liking to you (feels you have enough content and are valuable to promote) then theyre going to exploit you. Youre best bet is to complain to Streamate about them. Look into what the rules are for affilates there. I dont know what they are but if making twitter accounts pretending to be said model is allowed then they wont stop him, if twitter suspends that account he'll just make another with a slightly different name and do it again.. If the affilate broke one of their rules, they will gladly terminate him and keep all his earnings.

Its really a catch 22 cause exposure is good, if someones leading customers to you but I know how you feel about being pissed off someone is pretending to be you..

when i first started camming it wasnt full time and I was trying to keep as low a profile as I could and then I discovered a bunch of cl spam posts from someone pretending to be me offering fun on cam. I was seriously pissed but the only thing that made it stop was telling the cam site some of the 'customers' coming from his link were under the impression if they signed up I would give them my number for a real life meeting. And then it stopped.

So if nothing else works you may have to try something like that.

I've already told Streamate about this and they're trying to get in touch with the account owner, but they're not responding. I hope they can just cut this person's affiliate account off and he'll go away if he's after the affiliate $. I have a sneaking suspicion that this same person made accounts for other girls, so SEARCH YOUR NAME ON TWITTER and see if anyone is impersonating you, because I know I'm not the only one this has happened to.

Annabellz, that is reeeeally messed up. I wonder why people pull this retarded shit.
