The best thing i have heard in a strip club to date:
customer: we should get married right now! we should get a shotgun marriage!
me: uhh... i think you are misunderstanding what a shotgun marriage means. A shotgun marriage means you knock me up and my daddy shows up at your door with a gun and forces you to marry me and raise the baby. You mean elope.
customer: hmm... nah actually i will take the shotgun marriage. At least then we would be having sex.

How long are you working out for?
If you feel like you can without being nauseous i don't see it being a big deal as long as you are drinking water/juice throughout
If you are going to be running for 30-45 minutes it would be best to have a small snack (fruit or juice) if you run before your morning meal, e.g. apple, orange, fruit juice about 20 minutes before, that is fine, if you are working out for over an hour+ then i would suggest eating atleast something an hour before you run, a simple piece of meat/cheese or boiled egg, it will help you throughout the workout and after
dont banannas help with cramps..? maybe just eat one of those before you run because 5 miles is quite a bit.
I've done both for fat loss...The only problem I see with fasted cardio is that you are breaking down muscle as well as fat for fuel. I would sugest some type of amino acid to help prevent muscle break down. The product that I use is http://www.supplementwarehouse.com/b...FQ-bnAodkCbVnQ
Liquid Amino..choc Flavor is really good & you just drink a cap...no mixing

I would have a small piece of whole wheat bread and a cup of juice right before working out. It gives me the energy I need without the lightheadedness I don't.

I was always told its best to do cardio on an empty stomach to burn fat stores. Just stay hydrated. If you do weights though or something that requires a lot of muscle then some food is good??
I always do this.. but I drink or eat something thick on my way to the gym.. a smoothie, yogurt, applesauce and stay at the gym for 2 hours or so.. But I bring a powder-protein water mixed drink.
I think if your body can handle it and you dont feel sick then you're fine. Whenever I ate before doing cardio I just felt icky and more lazier so I didnt do that again.. and it gave me more cramps.
Cardio on an empty stomach first thing in the morning is great for me as well! I usually pack a snack in the car for the ride home....like a banana and some almonds.
Honestly... cardio on an empty stomach first thing in the morning WORKS for me.
I need to run first thing in the morning, or I just put it off and put it off... and I don't like to eat before working out because it just... doesn't feel good.
I've been doing it for years with no issues.

^ same here.
I always exercise on an empty stomache otherwise I get side aches and feel yucky.
I usually eat something when Im done though, bc Im very hungry afterwards.
if I work out early in the day I'll drink some soy milk first. Not sure if that's the best thing to do but if I take my vitamins without anything in my stomach I get nauseated.

I don't know about cardio but I always eat a light carb before weights, and follow up afterwards with a good natural protein for muscle growth & sustenance. Resistance training on an empty stomach, IMHO, is a big no-no.
Gotta keep them muscles happy!
