Default to strip or not to strip that is the question

I have been wondering about getting into dancing in Toronto, I didn't do well dancing the first time around in like 2004 and maybe a breif time in 2006 ish.

but now with so many things coming up financially. as much as I love camming I can't spend every day online. since pretty much all I know is sex work I am wondering about dancing.

I am done with escorting, and if I was working a club and client asked for outside meeting I have no problem arranging that but I am just wondering are the clubs even worth it or just forget about it all together nad just suck it up and webcam full-time.

I posted this in other work becuase me trying stripping would be other work for me.

Since you say you've done it before... How long did you try it out for? It took me a month to really get the hang of it before I started making actual money. If you gave it a couple of months and didn't make anything then do NOT go back. Money is definitely way worse now than it was years ago.

The club I danced at was pretty slow during the week. Sometimes I'd work 7 hours to leave with 100, sometimes I'd leave with less. Then again sometimes I'd have a good week night and make 400-500. But the weekends can be great. On a Saturday I always made more than 500 averaging 600-700. One pro to dancing is that you make cash which you can get away with more as far as taxes go.

I personally plan on getting back into dancing since that is what I enjoy more and if there is money there it would definitely be worth it I think. Dancing is a lot easier than camming to me. You go on stage once an hour, no big deal. The rest of the time is spent sitting with guys, giving lap dances, or hanging out in the dressing room. For me grinding on a guy is easier to do than stuffing your lady parts.

I know a couple of girls on this board dance in Toronto, so hopefully they chime in to give you firsthand and more specific information. You would likely have better luck posting in one of the Stripping sections, because even though it would be other work for YOU, the other work section on this forum is for everything other than stripping, so other strippers may not check it as regularly.

From what I know though, you can expect to deal with a lot of extras (and the expectation for a lot of them) and inconsistent money (this can be bad in the sense that you can't really expect to make a certain range every time you go in, but also good because I have been told that you can walk out with quite a bit sometimes). I think the money has gone down in general across the board, but Toronto is still a big city with quite a few men with high incomes, so that certainly works in your favour. You'd have to get the license again, which will cost you a couple hundred. There are some cities in the GTA that you could dance in without a license (Vaughn, Mississauga) though, so you could try that out to see the income potential before investing in the license.

For me money is much much better camming than stripping. But it is all based on how much you make camming and where you are dancing at. Some clubs are doing better than others.

I used to work 3 nights a week to make barely make 1000 sometimes, which is hmmm 22 hours. Camming I make 100 an hour, so if I worked 22 hours on cam I would be more likely to make 2000+ without even leaving the house. You can hop on cam anytime and most importantly you can hop off cam whenever you want. At a strip club you can't leave if your having a bad night.

There are definite pros and cons to both. I had the perfect mix going on for a month or two. I would work only 1 night at the club on the weekend and cam the rest of the week. But then my manager told me I had to start working 3 nights again or none so I got the boot

Ok, I don't want this to come out as bitter or mean (I am a bit bitter I guess): It you are going to escort, just escort. PLEASE. If you are dancing and regularly meeting customers at the club and arranging to meet them for escorting purposes, that is illegal, and definitely NOT ok with many dancers. There is nothing that bothers me more than when escorts use dancing as a means to get clients, it teaches customers bad behaviour and to expect OTC from all of the other dancers, they assume that *everyone* has a price, and while being solicited may be ok with you, its not ok with everyone, I chose to dance because I am comfortable with it, I am not comfortable with escorting, please don't put girls like me in uncomfortable positions by allowing customers you meet at the club to become escort clients, Toronto is particularly bad for girls offering extras and OTC, do not contribute to the problem. I do not have a problem with escorting, but the strip club is not the proper venue to be organizing that, and in toronto, there are many other avenues through which business can be arranged.

That being said, if you want to dance in the city, you will need to fork out $400 for a liscense, $50 of which go to a criminal record check. If you have prostitution charges, you will not be allowed to have a liscense, other smaller infractions I've heard you can get away with. Money can be very good if you are a good hustler, hustling skills are probably most important, competition is pretty stiff. If you have a car you can try missisauga, no liscense required there (the liscense covers all clubs in toronto, etobicoke, north york, and scarborough, vaughn requires a seperate liscense which is... $125 I think? I could be wrong though)

Sorry for the late reply on this thread, I got so much shit going on that I can't even think straight most nights I am not even sleeping at all and now I am facing eviction. I have been in this business for so long that I can't even consider the idea of going into another profeession or I see the idea of becoming a veternarian something that is soo far away that I should just forget about it.

I wonder how I got myself here and how come I have very little to show for it. 2 HDTVs, 9 webcams , 2 cats and 9 in savings isn't really good net worth. I thought I would get my liscence and work in Toronto since I am not driving. when I like 19 or 20 dancing before I remember most nights if I was lucky I came home wit $200 when I made more then that it was when I was be hired to dance for the events hosted by the lesbian community.

getting into escorting only happened becuase I had a boyfriend at the time and he took advance of my good heart it was never my plan to escort some days I wish I never did. so yes I have screwed many parts of my life and now I stll have to fix it.

I don't know maybe I am reaching bitter hood.

hang in there! you just have to keep on trucking. You could always sell the TVs and the Webcams that you don't use.

You cant really think straight if facing eviction. Do whatever you can safely do to quickly get the cash whether stripping or something else, and then make a decision what direction to go afterward. (((hugs))) I wish you the best and a quick solution to the money situation.

I'm so sorry you're going through this.

Are you allowed to work at more than one club at a time? If so I'd hustle my butt off until the bills are caught up. Camming is good, but if my back were against the wall I rather be competing in a club with 20 or so other dancers than thousands of other girls on a cam site.

Also, please don't give up on becoming a vet. It's obviously something you're really passionate about. Once you get your money situation straightened out you can pursue your other goals. Adult work is cool and everything but we all have to think about the future, you know?

I'm rooting for you Minnie! You got this, girl!

You can always find a private owner that will rent to you with no problem. I have done this many times even though my credit IS good.

Um. Wait, you were held captive and abused for a year and a half after responding to an ad? I am so sorry to hear that. This is the way I've always done it and it's worked well for me. wow.
