I know this is weird, especially for an internet forum, but the only way that we can hire PornLaw is if a California resident decides to sue CamWealth.
Anyone ballsy enough to help us all out?

I don't, I live on the east coast. D:
I'm looking right now for east coast lawyers who are willing to launch a class action lawsuit. I took the day off just to do this. Which means im HELLBENT on getting this in the works
I just found out about this. I haven't had time to read the forums the past few days. I got the email this morning and had no idea what the mail from camwealth was about. I'm shocked at how easy it was for this guy to get our info. I'm 50/50 on the lawsuit. Let us know if you ladies find someone from Cali to start the lawsuit. I'm from Colo, so I guess I can't.

no......

sue them for what, and is it really worth the hassle, and legal fees, and etc.
sometimes suing someone isn't worth it.

Sue them for negligence. Sue them for not taking care of your personal info. For not treating your privacy as important. For even keeping your damn IDs on their WEBSERVER. And who says there will be legal fees? MANY lawyers would take this for a cut of the proceeds.
SUING these people IS worth it. You've been robbed of something. Don;t do it for the MONEY, do it for the PRINCIPLE.
B

Im going to for the principal, beings they have openly admitted they have placed our information on an open network.
Im not worried about the money or the hassle, I have some relatives that will work up the case for me, and tell me weather or not its worthy or not.
As far as being angry at cam wealth , im not. But if one site gets away with it , more are to fallow.
I do understand that this is the internet , and things are liable to leak , but i myself was under the impression my personal shit was kept safe, and they would at least give enough of a care to spend the extra penny to protect its assets. witch if i understand correctly , they didnt.
I can deal with the shitty percentiles , and the fat losers that hurrase us , but complete negligence of my stuff , that could get my killed , for my identity stolen is unexceptionable in my.
And as most of us say , this is our business ,treat it as such , i plan to do just that , and protect my personal assets , Me.
If you do not plan to take further action , that is your own personal opinion , but my personal decision , is to.

I'm in Nevada but I wouldn't sue just yet. I would sue CW if my info on their server was stolen by the people who hacked it and was used to steal my identity to open credit cards, steal my money, and whatever else I have not given permission to do. It's negligence on their part for allowing criminals gain access to our personal info.
Right now, I've changed passwords to all my accounts and am monitoring my credit for fraud. Just more worry in a world we already have to worry about people stealing our identity.

Exactly
Once an identity is stolen , its almost impossible to fix.
Im not just gonna say , well if it happens ill fix it , because thats
HARD, and possibly can never be perfectly restored.
Fraud is the #1 crime in america, and the hardest to undo.

I agree. Negligence is negligence. If CW is willing to PROVE they were actually hacked and that they had your info in a place that was truly expected to be secure, that's different. Otherwise, they deserve whatever they get.
Not one shred of evidence yet about ANY other site.

You're prob. going to have to find a pretty big law firm.. im not lawyer but from what ive read about it sueing a large company thats obviously very rich can be difficult because they can continue to postpone things for ever really because they have the money to drag it out which in turn can be expensive for the people sueing and the lawyer(s) But I would say theres deff. a case I wouldnt be able to sleep at night knowing some creepers know where I live. I feel awful for everyone involved
I really dont undestand how they could be so careless as to keep such important info in a file that was not completely secure, lke someone else said on another thread it should be kept offline on a seperate hard drive.

Have you seen this? They apparently have not given any evidence now.

Also, who says it will get to court...75% of suits settle out of court. It is ridiculous to attack people who were harmed by a company and want to sue...it is like attacking someone for their vote...it is the american right when one has a grievance, to redress that grievance.
Sheesh...

Yeah, they might try to use this and the "slander" card to paint over the mess.
Private information was carelessly saved.
Personal information was compromised including data elements useful to identity thieves, such as Social Security numbers, and driver's license numbers, addresses and GOD knows what else was exposed.
Generally, online privacy is governed by a series of federal and state statutes and regulations that specifically prohibit obtaining and using private information that is contained on your computer and/or that you have transmitted to third parties. Many of these statutes allow private individuals to initiate class actions against businesses that violate these privacy rules. In many cases, civil penalties can exceed millions of dollars.Conduct that has been the subject of legal action under these statutes includes:
- Web sites that misrepresent the purpose for collecting personal information
- Web sites that disclose, share, or sell consumers' personal information to third parties without the consent of the consumer
- Misrepresenting the security of an individual’s personal information
- Misrepresenting the ways that personal information will be used
- Misrepresenting the ways that the personal information of children may be collected, used and disclosed
- Failing to disclose the use and installation of cookies
- Failing to disclose the use and installation of Web bugs
- Failing to disclose information-gathering through spyware, which is incorporated into consumer software to trace consumers' internet activities
Companies big and small need to learn to follow through on their privacy policies and laws. It is not about the money, it is about people's safety and lives!! Specially when we are working on this industry which is full of so many pervs, and sick minded people.
Also the "hacker" should be make responsible as well, and action should be taken against her/him.
This has been such a stressful news for me (and I know many of you). Lets just all hope noting else comes out of this, and that we are all safe and it was just a stupid and "harmless" shenanigan from a unstable "hacker".
xoxoxoxox

This guy/girl has to be a sick minded, no time , compleat loser! And I don't trust this fucker with anything personal of mine!
