    Default Food Poisoning

So after eating a delicious sea food dinner Im now non-stop vomiting in the middle of the night. Has anyone had food poisoning before. Any tips to get me through? I cant even sleep because I just keep waking up nauseous as hell and then vomiting again. Guess Im not working tonight.

If you first started having symptoms immediately after you ate the seafood, it's almost certainly due to preformed bacterial toxins in the food and there's not a lot that can be done to make it go away faster (it will go away pretty quickly on it's own, though). Any antihistamine that causes drowsiness (such as Benadryl) will help to reduce nausea (non-drowsy ones, such as Claritin, will not). If you can't keep oral medication down, suppositories are also available (although in the US they are Rx only). Also, Pepto Bismal (once again, if you can keep it down) is a tried and true OTC remedy that is often scorned but which actually works pretty well on this type of nausea.

Probably a little late but call your dr and ask for Zofran. Miracle nausea pill. Wait until right after you throw up and think you can wait a second. Take it with a tiny tiny sip of water.

-Another tid bit - Don't not drink water because you keep throwing it up. That's how you wind up in the ER for 6 hours. Take little sips of pedialyte, I prefer grape.

This is from having the stomach flu. From what I gather it's similar...

    Hope your better!

Agree with the Zofran! Its amazing! If you can go to the hospital, they will put it in your IV so you stop throwing up immediately! The last time I had the stomach flu I got so dehydrated I was confused and disoriented and my school called an ambulance for me and as soon as the stuff went in my IV I stopped throwing up. It was AMAZING!!

Oh that blows. I had food poisoning once (bad tilapia). After the initial hour long bout of nausea and vomiting, I slept it off and made sure to hydrate myself thoroughly when I woke up again. Like someone else said, if it's so soon after, it may be something different than what got me (mine was 12 hours later and I just sort of stuck it out).

I really have no suggestions outside of that. Feel better soon!
