I'm not an expert on this but this is what i have heard when i was shopping for them......

    In general....Plasma vs LCD

Plasma: gives you the best picture if you have perfect viewing conditions, semi dark, straight on. But does not last as long as an LCD, and more expensive to fix. So if you are watching in a room with some sun or have a lamp....the LCD may be a better choice.

based on this description, i have always gone with the LCD and have not regretted it. Obviously there are differences based on what brand and model you go with....

my only slightly educated opinion....go with the LG(maybe go to a store that sells them and see the picture before ordering online)

The cnet.com site has some pretty good articles and reviews.

I believe I'd prefer the LED sets, as the cost is not that much more and they seem to have a better picture. What I need to find out second is the features I'd like.

One thing is about the size. They still give diagonal measurements, even the 9:25 HDTV ratios. The vertical screen height is just about half the diagonal measurement.

I've seen some pretty good prices in Target, Walmart, other discount places.

They are all built in China with no getting around that, even if the brand name is not Chinese.
I loved going to strip clubs; I actually made some friends there. Now things are different for the clubs and for me. As a result I am not as happy.

Customers are not entitled to grope, disrespect, or rob strippers. This is their job, not their hobby, and they all need income. Clubs are not just some erotic show for guys to view while drinking.

NOTE: anything I post here, outside of a direct quote, is my opinion only, which I am entitled to. Take it for what you estimate it is worth.

Hey Kisca, don't go for the 1st one 720p at 42" is going to look terrible. Don't pay too much attention to the plasma/lcd debate, all tvs are pretty good right now. What you need to pay attention to is contrast ratio, which tells you more or less how deep the colors will look (I'm no pro, so somebody correct me if I'm wrong), and also make sure your screen size is appropriate for how far away you're going to be sitting from it. If you're going to be playing video games on it pay attention to refresh rate.

Believe it or not, a great source for TVs is Costco. If you have a membership there you will save a ton of money.

I recently went shopping for a flat screen tv. LG, Samsung, Sony(very pricey) and Vizio are among the best. I agree go with HD 1020. Also think about what else you want to hook up to it. Like how many HDMI ports are there as well as other connections. Also Tv's are internet ready and the best refresh rate is 2400 bps, but they increase the price tremendously, so for the average watcher, 1200 refresh rate is good enough, unless you are a gamer(video games).

It also depends upon your needs and tastes when looking for the right tv.

Ask other people who have them to get a better average of how reliable and good they are.

I bought a 46 inch, Vizio, HD LCD LED tv, and I am loving it.

Vizio only makes tv's and many of their engineers started their own company to produce an excellent product.

The price was great under $1000.00. Hint, if you live in the states or maybe even if you do not, signing on as a member to walmart, they have good deals where buying online will reduce the cost than buying the tv at the store, and you get an email telling you when they have it for pickup.

    Good luck.
