Since extensions are usually super-healthy, they don't hold curl as well. After curling, roll the hair back into a curl and pin while it cools, then spray. That will help curl longer.

Hairspray. Aussie mega scrunch spray has long lasting hold. Regular Aussie mega has flexible hold. Depends on how long you want it to hold and how stiff you want it to be.
Thank Goodness I smartened up! The old me is dead and gone.

Like someone else said, spray the hell out of em, and also heat them up in the curling iron for longer than you would your natural hair.
I got a really great discounted curling iron from TJ Maxx. Ebay and folica.com are also good bets.
I use a $12 curling iron that I bought a decade ago on my extensions and they hold the curl fine.
Honestly... I find extensions require a bit more heat than my normal hair... I don't typically use product on my extensions... but if I do it's like a light spritz of hairspray or a dab of curl cream that I let dry before curling.

I have this problem too, which is why it's easier just to wear the damn extensions straight....BUT! I have found that the only thing that REALLY holds my extensions in curl is using my Chi straightening iron on the highest (450) setting. Thin straight irons can make the best curls from loose waves to tight ringlets. They'll hold ALL night without spray.
Here's an alright video to explain. It's not my favorite (I was trying to find one by purse buzz) but it will do. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLxdEut800c
It's really easy once you get the basic motion down. The key is to move slow and give that little extra twist at the end. If the extensions are long you might have to finger the curl in the right direction.
