    Default Checking out clubs

So, I really want to start dancing. The reason (as you might guess) is money. I'd like to be able to actually have savings.

I've been to strip clubs, but not in this city, so I'd like to go check out my local clubs, but seriously... I can't even AFFORD to drop a bunch of cash right now on going out. Any suggestions? My idea right now is to just choose one/week and stay no longer than an hour, hour and a half. I wouldn't want to piss off any potential dancer-coworkers by coming off as cheap and/or rude for staying a short period of time (aka: not dropping a bunch of cash). I live in PDX where there are primarily stage clubs, so I'm guessing the weekend would be a more inconspicuous time. Thoughts?

You're in Portland, the clubs there are generally pretty low key. Why don't you just go to the club you want to check out, buy a drink, tip a couple dollars per song at the stage, and peace out?

Or you could just jump in headfirst and not check out the club first. If you end up not liking it, you can always switch to another club, and at least you'll have a little bit of experience.

Simply say you are there to check out the club. I usually tip a bit on stage if I go scope clubs , but you don't have to. You are there considering if you want to work there. I'd would honestly just try not to over complicate it. The best way to "scope" is to work a couple nights. That way .... you are earning while you are checking it out. If you like it, work more. If you don't, just find another place.

Whatever you do, do NOT hustle customers. In fact, if I were you, I would try to avoid even talking to the customers. It'll make you look like one or more of the following: a prostitute, an attention whore, or an asshole.

You're right...I won't make such a big deal out of it. I'll bring a pole dancer friend (who's a super cool chick who'd be fun to go with). (*tells self to ch to the i-l-l*)

And women customers are more likely to not get dances and just tip at the stage anyway. I would definitely go with somebody though. They might not let you in or they might make you feel very uncomfortable.

It's always nice to check out the club you're planning on working at before starting, but there's definitely something to be said for just jumping right in. Going in as a customer, even if you're observing as a potential dancer, is a very different experience from going in and just working. As a customer, it may seem quiet, but as a dancer, you could be making tons of money off the handful of guys there because they're big spenders or there's high turnover in customers. But, visiting as a customer does give you a good idea of what to expect on stage, so that can be good.
