    Default Laptop question

I'm about to buy a new laptop... The think is I'm a bit tech challenged... Do I need a computer with a dedicated video board? (not sure if that's how you say in English)... Is Intel Core i5 really that much better or will a computer with the Core i3 do the job? The difference between the two I want, because of the processor, is almost U$500.

What do you consider the minimum requirements? I wanna be able to stream in HD and work on multiple sites... Thanks!

I don't know about the processor but I would definitely recommend dedicated graphics (video)

When you are talking about laptops, both the i3 and the i5 processors are dual core. The biggest difference between the 2 is that the i5 has turbo boost technology and an Integrated HD graphics controller, whereas the i3 Graphics and memory controllers are located on a separate die, and does not have the turbo boost.

There really shouldn't be a $500 difference between the two unless you are looking at 2 different computers and 2 different manufactures. Which computers are you looking at, and what are the specs on each?

As far as the dedicated video card...those are hard to find for a laptop and hard to install. In fact, doing a search for a laptop graphics card, I could not find one.

If you can find a laptop with an i5 processor for less, I would go with that.
Of course, this is only my opinion.

    I agree with memo_rex

The difference between i3 and i5 are Mhz, are basically the same CPU but the i5 is a bit faster.

In my opinion you will not notice much difference. With i3 is excellent option for camming (Price / earnings).

Actualy, the minimum requirements for HD streaming are:

    CPU: Dual core, 2.0 + GHz, 2MB L2 Cache
    RAM: 2 GB (4GB recommended)
GPU: Dedicated is optional, not required. In laptops dedicated graphics = high cost.

    Up Speed: 800k / s (1 + mb / s recommended)

Thanks girls for all the replies... I'm in South America here, so prices are a bit different depending on whether the computer was made here or not (if it hasn't, there are heavy taxes on it, that's why the prices are so different).

The first one I can buy it's a Sansung with dedicated graphics, i3 (2.26 GHZ I guess) and 4GB RAM.
The other one is a HP, no dedicated graphics, i5, also 4GB.
There's a third one, more expensive, with both dedicated graphics (1GB of memory just for that) and Core i5... Isn't that much more than needed?

Thanks Minnie! I'm going to take a look at the specifications of the computer you bought and see if there's anything similar.
